    Fun fact:
    Artichokes are a flower bud and belong to the family of thistles. When they bloom they have a bunch of tiny little purple hairlike flowers that emerge from the center.

    I love artichokes almost any way except canned and marinated. Boiled, steamed, stuffed, baked, deep fried, grilled are all good, but stuffed with cheesy breadcrumbs are my favorite dish. I peel the stem and eat that too.
    I am growing artichokes for the first time ever in my container garden. I’m a novice gardener, so I don’t know how well they’ll do, but so far they’ve grown quite a bit and seem happy in their sunny yet sheltered location. I just enjoy watching things grow.

    In Algeria we either just boil it and eat it with olive oil and lots of vinegar or we stuff the hearts with minced meat , rice and cinnamon and we cook it in sauce it's called dolma

      The way my family eats artichoke, is you cut the stem off and you just trim the top of the leaves. Then you boiled the whole thing to hell. Then you dip the leaves and butter. And then you get to eat the heart of the artichoke, which is a little out of its way to eat since you have to get rid of all the tiny hairs. But the actual leaves of artichoke are technically simple and cook. Though you do have to boil it for a good amount of time

    • @beep3083
      @beep3083 2 місяці тому +7

      It's really tough. I think you can eat them technically, but it wouldn't be a very fun experience. The heart and the bottom of the leaves are more tender. :)

      None of it is poisonous but you do want to remove the fine hairs just above the heart - its called the choke and they'll catch in your throat if you dont remove them.
