    I like this family. They let the man have his moment and don't make it about themselves. Even the kid is well behaved and not trying to steal the attention.

      Yes Exactly! This family allowed him to enjoy the moment. So many videos soon as they put on the glasses you hear "Does it work? Can you see color? See what I did to make this happen?" Kids jumping around but not here. Love this family!❤❤❤❤

    This is the best video I've seen for EnChroma. All the other videos there's people immediately screaming "what color is this? what color is this? what do you think this color is? NO it is green!!!!" Like, give them a second. This family is very respectful. Giving him time to process everything and explaining colors to him instead of testing him. Precious!

      realtime36 True. If you go through life and miss all this, you only have yourself to blame. I don't know who could possibly take all we are able to see for granted, but I am sure there are plenty of them out there.

    Im 38 years old, living east europe country, I paid for this glasses my two monthly wages, but the effect is priceless.
    Notice he needs a moment for a wow effect, this was the same for me.
    At first I thought ....well, nothing splecial, I expected more, maybe it is only suggestion, probably it doesn't work for me...
    But after some minutes. OMG! I CAN'T BELIVE THE WORLD LOOKED LIKE THAT ALL THE F... TIME!
    The color of the sky and human skin was the most shock for me :)

    I've watched many of these type of videos, & I have to say, this is one of my favorites. Isn't it amazing what we all take for granted every day? Watching videos like this serves to remind me to look around, & to not take my surroundings for granted. I love the childlike sense of awe & wonder so often shown. It was so awesome of you all to get your Grandfather the perfect gift for him. You can really feel the love in your family. I teared up so much when he thanked you all. He seems like a good man. Thank you for sharing. :)

    So beautiful to see his emotion. Our prior eras, the men were conditioned to be such tough guys and never show their emotion, it's absolutely terrible. Glad things are changing in that regard... I'd be swearing and crying at the same time if I saw colour for the first time after my 29 years, I can't even imagine 72 years....

    I've watched several of this glasses videos and really loved the excitement and awe the young people expressed, but this...well, this was the most heartfelt I've experienced as he adjusted and then took in his familiar world through new eyes. Its easy to become weary and worn as the years weigh upon you. Its good for us old geezers to get a freshh kick in pants once in a while. This one had combat boots! Great job! I hope he had an incredible Autumn and Halloween with all the many shades of orange and a chance to see a Mardi Gras in all it's purple, green and yellow splendor! So happy for him and very proud of his family! Kudos!

    There's a significant difference between seeing color and communicating the experience of seeing color. It's a significant chasm to cross. Well meaning bystanders who simply wish to participate in the newfound ability of the wearer are largely oblivious to the separation, unless they've gone through a similar experience with another sense or ability. It's like you can't talk about what you've never really known. And now that you are experiencing it, it will take some time for you to add the nuances of the experience to your vocabulary. Then you will be able to more fully communicate the experience of color. It's got to be similar to a baby who's senses experience the world for the first time, but they can't tell you anything about it. Nor do they have a personal framework of experience to compare it to in order to have developed a communicable opinion.

    Most colorblind people do not actually see colors with these glasses, unfortunately, as in - they would still fail the colorblind test. They're, however, seeing more definition between the colors they've already known and could see before.

    using the same tech to develop these glasses, i wonder if we can create a pair of glasses that enhances the spectrums of normal eyesight, so that we can see how other animals see the world.
    the only issue would be, how would we know it if we saw it?

  • @deztroyer76

    How would he know the names of ANY colors if he's been color blind his whole life?

    • @cinnamonbun2251
      @cinnamonbun2251 7 років тому +7

      He would still be taught the colours, they would just look different to him. Maybe purple looked yellowish brown or something, but that's what everyone calls purple, so that's what he calls purple.

    • @Fog37
      @Fog37  7 років тому +7

      The colors he was familiar with all his life like on flowers, trees, etc, he would now see in real color. He would only guess at those colors compaired with other colors that look similar or the same. Being colorblind doesn't mean he can't see any colors at all. Only certain colors would look different.

  • @Nipponing
    @Nipponing 8 років тому

    • @act29productions37
      @act29productions37 8 років тому +1

      Well, God allowed the glasses to be made! He's an amazing God, he created these colors and everything.
      Y'know, no man could ever think of another color. Its incredible, any other color is seemingly impossible until you witness it. Just like this old man, he never knew theses colors were possible. His mind can't even fathom it. But God can because he's a perfect God, and he created all these beautiful colors! It's astonishing. Then sin entered the world and we got all this crap like color blindness lol
      It is truly amazing though that we've advanced to making stuff like this. It's so beautiful seeing him experience what the good Lord has given us to experience

    • @act29productions37
      @act29productions37 8 років тому

      thats the result of sin which God came to rescue us from... but were so evil we push away God. How do we epect God to save us when everyone hates him so much, pushes away his love?
      To what extent do you want God to get rid of evil or bad things? We're evil cause weve lied before, stolen before, were sinners. God cant take away evil to the extent of cancer without punishing us ourselves for our sin. If God got rid of "bad" things like cancer, he would get rid of all bad things. Including us. but he alows us to love to choose to follow him.

    A very good friend of mine is color blind. I have a large set of colored pencils, and when I asked him to pick the color of skin (we are both from European decent) he picked a split pea soup color. I understand that these glasses do not 100% correct color blindness, but at least they can help differentiate the colors colorblind people have trouble with, but non colorblind people can normally see. Watching these videos has given me a greater appreciation for how different the visual world is for colorblind vs normal sighted people. This touched my heart.

      These are the EnChroma glasses I guess. =). There really are no "true" colors of the world. We only see a small part of the EM spectrum as colors and different species see a different range of the spectrum. Colors are just labels created by the brain representing different wavelengths.

    Whoever put together this touching video did an excellent job of it. What a beautiful tribute showing the love this family has for this special man in their lives. I'm so glad Ashleigh and Michael were able to share this precious time with her grandfather and her family.

    I fully expect that when I get to heaven, I will have this same reaction-- I was blind, but now I SEE!! I'm so happy for this gentleman that he received the gift of color while still in this life-- those glasses are amazing, for sure.

    People that have had near death experience, say that colors in Heaven are the most vivid,bright, alive, I know that it's true,never had a near death experience, but colors always had a profound effect on me as if I could taste them or immerse in them,hard to explain, but my cat which I adore, does look around my head when she looks at me, I believe she can see my aura.

    I've watched several of these and surprisingly they seem to be most enamored by the different shades of green rather than the bright colors one would expect.

    The most surprising to me is that they now see definition (shapes) of leaves, flowers and so many see various skin color on their family members as well as eye colors.

      Crazy isn't it. I guess just because he saw it a certain way and people had pointed out things that were those colors all his life.

      +Joan Vasquez you'd have to imagine that being colorblind isn't like seeing everything in neutral shades. you can see certian colors but reds/greens blend together into a bland single tone.
      my great uncle was blue/green color blind. he was an excellent ball turret gunner in the Pacific theater because the cammo of the Japanese ships didn't work on him. he saw everything the same color and it made seeing the outline of the ships easy. he said it's like seeing in different shades of grey. you just have been taught that certian shades of grey are supposed to be a color and you just learn to live that way. it's weird to think about it but that's how they live.

      It doesn't change the wavelengths hitting the eye, it actually just removes some of the muddying overlapping colors which make colorblind people unable to see vibrant/distinct color.
