This would actually be so good as a series, like who doesn't love a good ole throwback to those days that shaped us in the gamers we are today! Thank you for another amazing video Nick ^^
@@theASMRnerd Sweet! Speaking of old vintage gaming magazines. My father(44) and I(19) were going through his old post grad and college boxes from his travels in Europe and came across some very (pricey) and nostalgic Nintendo magazines. Maybe I can send a copy and you can do a video?
@@MidApp333 That sounds like a fun thing to do with your dad! I had a couple of other requests to record a video with a Nintendo Power mag and I'd be happy to do it, but if your dad's are pricey or have sentimental value, I wouldn't want you to risk sending them. I appreciate the offer, though! I'll keep an eye out locally and see if I can pick any up for cheap.
I would love to see old Spyro or Crash Bandicoot reviews. I know that they probably weren’t released on PC at the time, but when I was 4 I would watch my sister play them in the early 00’s. It sparked my love of video games and nerd-dom, so if by chance you have a magazine with their reviews, that would be really cool to watch and learn about!
This is fantastic! I don't want to get long winded and will do my best to keep it short. You are the first asmr experience. I came across because i was tired. And struggled with sleep It was your Skyrim walkthrough that hooked me. That was about 7 years ago. And you helped me sleep. I've recently been late diagnosed with autism and comorbidities ocd and adhd. I'm 51 female and always knew there was more to it. Anyway. Life has been happening in a whirl. I haven't taken time I need to simmer. It's been a while since I've listened to you. So, I'm pretty excited. THANK YOU ❤️
This is my favorite ASMR video ever! Not just on your channel, but any channel, ever! I would love a series of you reading through old gaming magazines and reminiscing. I was on the edge of my seat listening to that Morrowind review, despite having played hundreds of hours of it over the past two decades! So cool!
Dungeon siege! Oh man... I used to sit on a stool as a tyke and watch my step dad play until I got my own computer some years later. Absolutely enthralling world... the music and the sound design are so iconic, reminiscent of early World of Warcraft. The gameplay, though a little stiff and monotonous compared to modern games, still holds up shockingly well. One of the goats imo, certainly of my childhood. Thanks for the retrospective, Nick! Fun times 😌
Oh boy do i miss the Golden days of gaming Magazine shopping. As a kid, i did some lawn mower jobs, for a little coin. My dad took me to buy the new magazine every time. The best one i got, was the one with Doom 3!! Must have read that 1000 times. Good memories
Was a Game Informer subscriber for all of middle school and half of high school, still sad my mom threw most of those magazines out, but this gave me some nostalgia for those magazines.
I really enjoyed the trip back in time with this video. I would absolutely enjoy more of this sort of content. Dungeon Siege would also be very welcome to see too.
I used to love getting the free demos with the console magazines, found so many great games though them like Socom Navy Seals, Ghost Recon FS, Metal Gear Solid. Awesome time to grow up in, felt like the last 20 years of gaming for me have been golden!!!
honestly I think you'r partner has the right idea, personally I also would have been apprehensive about bringing up a discount code but as you said it would be a win win . ps love the video idea , these games are just a lil before my time but it's very interesting and relaxing hearing about them.
Wow!! Totally cool. I had an idea. A read through of old Nintendo Power magazines. I remember wayyy back in the day waiting for mine to come in the mail. Should of held on to them.
This was phenomenal my dude! Seems like it would make a great series, just saying. I wasn’t a hardcore Pc gamer back then, but I played a little so this was really cool to see some of what I played and some of what I missed out on
I would have 100% told him about the code, because there's nothing wrong with saving money, there's nothing wrong with self promotion, and if anything it will just be a direct benefit to you and him. Now as far as 90s magazines are concerned my go too's were Nintendo power, and Tips & Tricks.
I guess it just feels kind of awkward in the moment? But I think it really depends on how I say/frame it, so maybe I just need to come up with something that feels right.
@@theASMRnerd I think you think it makes you come off as conceited but it doesn't, to everyone else it comes off like you're trying to save them money. Which we all appreciate. And if you should happen to have a side benefit of getting some of it, that's even better.
Wow this takes me back ! I remember buying these from time to time cause it was the best way to get most cheat codes for the games you owned at the time 😂 It's funny because I am in the middle of a major nostalgia streak, playing through all my old PS2 games. I have to submit a request for Final Fantasy X, that was my first RPG experience and it changed my life. I have been a major fan of the genre ever since !
Ha the classics, of asmr videos and games, all in one video, great stuff. Remember rushing back from a magazine store, finding a quiet corner and diving in, soaking up all the game news I could get my eyes on. I found repositories online where you can get the pdf and even the old demo disks! Not quite as good as going through them with our favorite nerd though :)
Idk if anyone remembers, but in the early 2000s there was a magazine subscription dedicated solely to Dragon Ball Z. I remember my old man would pick me up from school and when the new issue was in the passenger seat, i would be sooo stoked. I remember there were articles on Dragon Ball GT and it hadn't come to the US yet so it was like a myth that we could only get snippets of info from. Awesome video bro, it brought me back to a better time 🙂 Edit: everyone wants to save money, if anything you could keep it ambiguous and just be like "btw man believe it or not i have a promo code if you're interested in saving a couple bucks" then i'm 100% sure he'll ask you about "theasmrnerd" then you can humbly tell him about your channel since his interest was already piqued.
I would have done the same as you because (personally) anxiety! But I think Sarah is on to something. :) Edit: Now that I'm done watching, I absolutely loved it! I'm a sucker for page-turning/reading asmr and I love gaming (and nostalgia!) so this is the perfect video to bookmark to revisit. Would love if you made more of these!!
I moved house not so long ago and came across a pile of old Official PlayStation mags i must have had stashed away for 20 years or so, reviews of Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy IX, Gran Turismo. Just a massive pile of paper nostalgia.
Hey Nick, long time viewer - seldom commenter. I think if I were in your shoes with the individuals asking about your shirt brand/sponsor, I would tell them what website/brand. Then I'd follow up with a "Not to make this sound conceited (even though I don't really think it is), but I am sponsored with this company and here's a 10% discount code if you are wanting to buy their merch" Great video as always, I love the nostalgia vids. Keep up the great work!
Aw man, there's some serious nostalgia here! This format would be great as a series. BF1942 Mafia: Lost Heaven Unreal Tournament 3 MechWarrior 4 Deus Ex: Invisible War - The hype for this game was so palpable for me. Such a disappointment though. The original was simultaneously the first RPG and FPS I played and it basically put every other game to shame in terms of worldbuilding and immersion until HL2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. released years later.
I'd say it's ok to give the affiliate link, just say "They actually sponsor my content, you can use this link to save 10% if you'd like". I'm sure they'd appreciate the savings, you get a bit for the channel, and if they're curious, they might just ask about your content and you can get a new viewer! Win-win-win situation!
I’d just tell a person that I had a discount code they can use and if they want it give it to them, if not whatever. Hope you’re having a great day Nick!
I member my brother playing a lot of total war and age of mythology, that game was sick tbh I played a shit ton of UT and a bit of mech warrior 4 around that time
the first time... well okay the first few... okay okay, the first several times i would definitely have done what you and not mentioned it, but i think eventually i would ask if they would like/mention i know of a code that can save them some dollars on their order; i do think though once you've mentioned it a couple times it'll start to feel normal to mention it when asked about them?
Thanks for the input! Yeah, maybe it'll just take a few times to not feel weird. It probably depends on how I frame/say it. I think I just need to find the right way.
I guess I would have told the guy about the offer code, but I'd have prefaced it with something like "I know this might sound a bit weird but you can actually save 10% if you do x y and z; I'm affiliated with them, so that's why... blah blah blah..." lol. I get your reluctance, though.
Late but GTA 3 did have a pc release, looked nicer and had an “Install” and “Play” CD. (Annoyingly the install cd only had a paper sleeve and didn’t have a place to secure into the box).
I remember spending hours in gta3 - i still to this day didnt finished the first 10missions 😂 Always driving around and killing cops and hookers… good ol‘ days dude - back when i didnt had any problems besides not enough time for playing games🤣
I probably would’ve shared a sponsor code. I do see where the conceited feeling comes from, but for me it is overridden by the idea of saving them money
As far as the t shirt question goes, I would probably have done the same as you. I don't think you would come off as conceited but it would create some questions and could sour the interaction. Especially if they have a negative connotation with ASMR which many people have unfortunately.

Came to the perfect time. Had a very very hard day and now I can go to sleep with a new ASMRNerd Video. So there is a happy end :D

This is a bit before my time but it’s very interesting to see the old style of video game ads! Super relaxing too 😴
Go back a little farther and the ads tended to get really bizarre.
I really enjoyed the trip back in time with this video. I would absolutely enjoy more of this sort of content. Dungeon Siege would also be very welcome to see too.
Thanks for the most soothing videos on the platform
It's my pleasure, thank you so much for your kind support! 😄

God that cd ad brings back memories.
I remember all the demo disc I had for my ps2 and I think even ps1 when I was a child
A part 2 would be amazing if possible! Either way Nick, continue the great content as always! :)
honestly I think you'r partner has the right idea, personally I also would have been apprehensive about bringing up a discount code but as you said it would be a win win . ps love the video idea , these games are just a lil before my time but it's very interesting and relaxing hearing about them.

Magazine ASMR rambles are the best!! Great video
Wow I love this idea for a series! Very cool and so nostalgic!
I’d absolutely love to see more of these! Definitely my era of games, although I think I was a GameCube player at the time
This would make an awesome series. Loved this! Brought back alot of memories! 😊👍
Perfect Sunday here we goo!!!
And a stream tonight too! :D
That gta poster hung on the wall of my gamer cave back at my parents for years! massive nostalgia!
I’d *LOVE* to hear a soft spoken showcase of the magazine with the review of the game American McGee’s Alice in it! 😃
Ooh that's a great idea! I'll put that on the list for the next time I do one of these videos!
@@theASMRnerd 😁
Everyone loves a discount so I'd say telling someone about it when they ask about the shirt is fine.

its not conceited, business cards is a good idea, helps bridge the gap between asmr videos and t-shirt discount
If its the original book then it's considered vintage. Retro is something that is meant to look old. Just to let you know :)
Loved this
(Btw yeah, ibuypower is still around. But now theyre scamming users on amazon lmao. The pcs sell for 700$ with a gt710)
Dark souls is the only game like morrowind to me
Its just waay harder
And way smaller
So its hard to get in that head space entirely
Sorry i talked so much i just get giddy for early 00s/late 90s games too 😄
How are cars, girls, and guns “sleazy”? I’d say those are all wonderful things.
