    I have a similar one I got at Costco a few years ago and I love it! It doesn't have the extra features this one has (bubble level, pencil holder, etc.), but it works wonderfully. I've used it for many types of jobs and it is reliable every time! I highly recommend this type of studfinder!

    If used properly and the batteries are charged all types will work the same. I ran similar test with 4 different stud finders and a magnet and all yield similar results. I will say the type you featured in this video tends to be more consistent due to the 13 sensors. I use the Franklin stud finder in conjunction with a magnet and dead on every time.

    Thanks for the video review. I bought my first electronic stud finder about 20 years ago. it worked OK but gave a lot of false positives. Bought a second model (different manufacturer) about 10 years ago. It's a bit more accurate, sort of picks up wiring and pipes but also not perfect. It's time i bought a new one and this one seems to work much better than what I have

    One of the reasons I haven't bought one yet however, is the size. Won't easily fit in my tool pouch.

    I own the Franklin because to me it is the easiest to use, my one gripe is that you have to press the activation button constantly. Sometimes in awkward situations it can be a challenge to keep that button pressed. Bosch makes a model with that feature, but the Franklin overall is best for me. Thanks for the video!

    I was wondering how accurate it is if you glide the stud finder and watch the led closely as it approaches the stud. Will it show the edge better that way ? Like a zircon it will light up from each direction
    I like the idea in this tool even if found a faster not creeping up from each side use ..if that makes a difference…

    I have that same yellow stud finder and it works sometimes but it never seems to be perfect. and if you're hanging something heavy like a TV you want that lag screw to be dead center in the two-by-four so you don't split it!

    • @ThatKiltedGuyDIY
      @ThatKiltedGuyDIY  4 роки тому

      When I need that much accuracy, I find the center best I can, then drive screws part way on the sides, to ensure I'm dead center.

    • @raymondb3884

      I use a 5/64 " drill bit to find the center. First hole than left & right 1/2" .If you hit on both, you could go left & right a 1/4 " for more accuracy. Good Luck !!!!

      Hi, thanks for your service btw. I bought the hat here- amzn.to/3ndQ3ye
      As for the clock, if you mean the digital one, I don't know. If you mean the metal one in the Air Force pattern, it's not a clock and was bought at a local exhibit booth at a music festival last year, when we could still have those. Thanks

    Just bought one of these stud finders because I was having a hard time finding the studs to hang a hand rail for my basement stairs. Using this stud finder I found that the braces were running diagonally through the wall. And I love the fact that it uses two AA batteries vs the 9 volt! Can you put the link to where I can purchase the case for the stud finder? Thanks

    You should do a video of stud finers with differant material.....My walls are (1940's) 3/8" drywall and some kind of morter over it like 1/2 to 3/4 inch think also lath and whatever else has been used. your video is good but simple drywall and stud dosnt test much.
    Thanks

    I watched a video comparing 4 different stud finders over studs, electric wires, conduit, pvc, for detection... A major problem was it showed conduit as a stud! He did it twice, then said, that’d be incredibly dangerous. I canceled my order after his video.

    • @ThatKiltedGuyDIY
      @ThatKiltedGuyDIY  3 роки тому +1

      How close were the wires and conduit to the surface? Pipes, wires, etc. are supposed to be located more in the center of the stud bay and therefore most Stud finders won’t detect them.
      In all my years of using them, I’ve never hit anything like a pipe or a wire.

    • @ThatKiltedGuyDIY
      @ThatKiltedGuyDIY  3 роки тому +2

      In my other video, I show how they detect density difference and if you understand that concept better, you can use them safely.

    • @ThatKiltedGuyDIY
      @ThatKiltedGuyDIY  3 роки тому +2

      The other problem with that is, I’ve never seen electrical conduit run inside of a wall. Conduit is for the outside of the wall. Inside the wall they just run wires loosely. And my final issue is, you would need a screw that is roughly 2 1/2 inches long to reach far enough to even touch the conduit. And conduit is very tough and would be very difficult to drive a screw through.

      I spend roughly 50 to 60 hours a week planning these videos, filming them, setting up for them, editing them, promoting them, responding to comments, and all the things that go along with this business. I also spend thousands of dollars on the equipment to do it, and I even had to go through three computers and finally built my own spending $2500 just on the materials. But if you don’t feel that my time is valuable, you are certainly free to watch these videos for free and not appreciate my time because I can’t stop you from having some consideration of all that goes into this business.
