"Are you interested in investigating the accuracy of any of these big assumptions?" That is a powerful approach as it reduces resistance. As Ramit astutely points out this is opposite the (expected) next question, "Are you willing to 'give up control of XYZ' " so it becomes something you are still exploring, not something you are being confronted to do. That is a huge "Aha!" moment.
i think it actually did, even though this might not be the full video. They didn't dive into the nitty gritty but, it went through the process. it just used "delegating" as an example, because it was something that was a problem for Ramit, therefore they could dive into it. Preface: this is just my interpretation of the video so do not take the number of steps as gospel :) I think that "how to always finish what you start" was highlighted in these steps 1 Set your goal (weight loss, delegation, better conversations) 2 Self-inventory: Become aware that while there is a part of you that genuinely wants that result, there is another part of you working against that result. This is because we are subconsciously inclined to not change. This can manifest as fears of what could go wrong if things were no longer as they are now. Before becoming conscious, the second part of you, the one fighting against, is "winning". This is because if it were not winning, then you would be doing the thing that you, genuinely, want to accomplish. 3 Become aware of what your fears are, and what the big assumptions of what would happen if things were no longer as they are now. So, why is that second part of you is working so hard to keep things where they are? What could go wrong if -insert fear here-? If I do, or don't do, X, this awful, terrible thing (big assumption) will happen. Give those fears/assumptions names. List them. 4 Are you interested in investigating the accuracy of these assumptions? Hopefully the answer is yes. 5 Develop a process by which to test said assumptions and their accuracy. She suggests to begin with simple observation (because observation leads to mindfulness). Whenever you take an action influenced by that second part of you, ie. you act in a way that works against your goal, simply take note of it. 6 These points you have noted become the inspiration for how to test these assumptions. 7 "What is the data that, if discovered, would prove your assumptions are NOT 100% accurate? Your goal is to seek that data. In Ramit's example of delegating, he noted there has been content released which he did not write, and that content performed well nonetheless. That is a precise data point that proves a couple of his assumptions 100% not accurate. 8 The process thus far leaves you with a stacked deck of FACTS, and 2 possibilities. Possibility 1: Your big assumptions WERE 100% accurate. This means you should NOT work toward that goal, and validates the second part of you that was working against it. Possibility 2: your big assumptions were NOT 100% accurate. This means you SHOULD work toward that goal, and completely invalidates the second part of you working against it, which should inspire and reinforce the part of you that wants that result. It just so happens that possibility 2 is far more likely. 9 *Not mentioned, but I presume is implied* ACT! Ideally in accordance to and with great consideration of your findings. Also ideally toward progress of the goal, since, again, possibility 2 is far more likely. Some notes about this process: If your big assumption is 50% accurate, that is still not 100% accurate. This means that, at least, there is wiggle room and some action could be taken. Discover what that is. Should there be more than one big assumption, then steps 4-8 will have to be repeated for each assumption. Beyond this, there is the slim chance that some big assumption could be 100% accurate while another is not. This is unlikely, but in the event that it happens you should be prepared to weight the importance of each one to help the decision to act.
+John Rumsy Dad used to manage a band in the 80s that got fairly popular locally. When they played in a nearby town, the lead guitarist would always take girls back to his room at a nearby Ramada Inn. That's how that hotel gained the nickname among the band: The Ram it Inn.
The second thing that comes to mind when I get a thought of what I want is 'You're crazy! You can't do that!' Basically, almost every single person from my childhood who didn't believe in themselves and so decided to put me down starts yelling at me at me so many years later. And that's exactly what stops me. So, I sit and cry and feel frustrated at this imaginary person (most of whom are dead now) not letting me achieve. It's really difficult to break out of that moment.
After every 5 writeups delegate . Inform your readers about it.If there are three such people you can delegate give all of then this chance. Do it for some time where you get an idea of what gets written by whom it's character et al.so now you can have a" designed" and scheduled write-ups . Because sincerely speaking nobody can write like you,(for that matter you too cannot write like anybody else). Accept it.Don't disrespect your fears.
Delegating? I'm afraid someone will get mad at me-get in my face about it. And then there's social fears. They make me pick up any little side interest that I come across. These consume me and short circuit drive in what it is I really want to do. I end up having a life long string of 'hobbies' none of which reach completion.
Sounds like you are distracting yourself with smaller things. Pick the big goal you started and go after it. However, that goal may not come into fruition until much later. Remember that.
This video wasnt what what the title said.... If you are going to talk about increasing self confidence, name the title of the video something which matches that. Why are you giving wrong titles?

Is it just me or does the title not describe what this video is about?
+Lori Lee seems like maybe they were getting there, but the interview was cut off.
It started out so, but the interviewer made it more about himself than what the audience needs to hear.
i don't feel like they even talked about the topic of finish what you started but then again i was doing something else at the same time
