@@danieltorres5055 the idle was jumping up and down like it was close to dying ,and when I would rev it it would go back down fast and dip below idle .occasionally it would stall out I’ve noticed that my suburban had more power output after I cleaned it ,I’d say it was more smooth and efficient felt like a new truck
I am not a “car guy”. I don’t even change my own oil. If I can do this, almost anyone else can too. You need to remove the throttle body because the gunk behind the butterfly is much worse than can be seen or cleaned without removing it. There are a few extra things I learned (not mentioned here) that I want to describe. Disconnect the battery completely to reset the PCM. Take care in removing the electrical connection on the throttle body. The white clip needs to be removed first. I used the same can of cleaner seen in the video, scrubbed with a toothbrush, and it did a great job. It should take no more than 30 minutes to clean the throttle body and reinstall. When finished, leave the battery disconnected a while longer to make sure the PCM memory is cleared. Reconnect the battery and restart the truck. Let the truck run in idle for 3 minutes so that the PCM relearns the correct idle speed. Turn off the truck and then restart it. Drive it for a while normally at speeds of at least 45 mph. This will also help the PCM with settings. My truck idled terribly before this and even stopped sometimes while driving. Now it runs great. Best $6 I ever spent on my truck. Good luck.
Same here. Cleaned the TB on the truck-as best I could. Did NOT disconnect the battery and when I started it up, it ran rough for a few days. Wished I woulda seen this vid BEFORE. I had a feeling it had to do with the PCM relearning idle speed. Oh well, lesson learned. Good vid!

Went through the video step-by-step and everything worked out perfect. I had a low Idle and it fixed that problem. When I pulled the throttle body off and disconnected the coolant lines I realized there was no flow of coolant through the throttle body, completely clogged with dirt and junk. Cleaned it all up and running like a champ.

Glad this exists. 👍 Just having "reduced engine power" issues which according to everything I've found so far are typically accelerator or throttle body related so looking foeward to getting in there and seeing if it's a dirty body.
Make sure to use throttle body specific cleaner, as the metals in your throttle body can easily be damaged by using the wrong chemicals, example: brake clean

only thing, never ever push the plate on electic controlled TB's you end up messing up the timing response to the TB computer setting. turn key to on position and have someone press the accelerator to open it. then clean it.
Don’t push on the butterfly to open it! Clean it as much as possible without opening the butterfly and then when you put it back on the vehicle. With the “key in run and engine off” have someone push the throttle to the floor and then clean where the edges are dirty. The gears in the electronics are plastic and very fragile from the heat. Just pointing out something that can ruin your day! Don’t ask how I know 😉
DO NOT USE CARB CLEANER ON A THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM LIKE THIS!!! It ruins the seals, and can leak in to the throttle control (TPS), and require a TB rebuild/replacement within 10-15K miles, and kill the TPS in the same timeframe.
According to a comment ontop you should disconnect the battery before then after putting it back start up the engine and let it run for 3 minutes then turn it off and restart your vehicle once more and drive it around at speeds around 45mph to rest the PCM
so i did this and cleaned everything but now when i start my truck it idles high then drops and then just like starts going up and down on the rmp not like up high and down but just starts idling and the rpm is going like up and down but it doesn’t turn off now , do you know why that might be happening? i disconnected the battery before i did anything too and im not sure why now it’s doing this?

After cleaning the throttle body and the mass flow sensor " it didn't happen this morning. It took me about a half hour and you can buy the sprays required at walmart in a combo pack for 8$ Good luck!

Im not the poster. But i have the exact truck. Mine was so bad a few years ago that I was stalling anytime i let off the gas. High RPMs at start up is another indication. Thats why im cleaning mine now. I only clicked this video because I thought it was a short cut to see if i could just clean the front. But those are a few signs that its time to clean it

You don't need to remove the throttle body to clean it. Spray the shit out of it and wipe it out. Only use TB cleaner. Not Carb. Let it sit for half an hour before starting it. You'll be good to go.
Man man man my truck has been shutting off on me. Ive changed the fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter and it was still shutting off now im about to do this hopefully she pers like a kitten

I've read that if it is blocked or bypassed, that in cold weather the throttle body can get ice buildup which can prevent the butterfly valve from fully closing. Never use carb cleaners on throttle bodies..u never push on flap of.the throttle body.there are gears in the throttle position sensor and u will run the chance of damaging it..turn key to on position. Use a stick and depress throttle to the floor. Now butterfly is open and u can clean throttle body with rag and cleaner..spray on rag and wipe down..u can spray minor amounts in throttle body,butt know vechile is going to start hard and run rough for 10 seconds or so, until the cleaner is burned up..just saying there are much better how to videos on line for this task..

my truck is having that exact problem too recently everyone has told me throttle body and spark plugs ima do both to be safe but glad it worked

Did your truck stutter at all when accelerating? Mine sometimes dies at idle and it might stutter when accelerating but it drives fine after

I figured it would be easy like this, but it's nice to know before you go taking things apart.
Only use throttle body cleaner and it is best spray on a rag not direct onto the throttle body.

My 03 Silverado was dropping down to about 300 rpm and would sometimes stall out when coming to a stop. Cleaning the throttle body actually fixed it.
This help with throttle response cause ive noticed mine has lost a decent amount of its response

My 2003 Tahoe didn't seem to need any programming. Just remove, clean, reinstall - fired right up no problems. Runs great.

I thought you don't suppose move the butterfly cover for no reason, otherwise we need recalibration. .is this correct?
I've never had any problems moving them by hand. It's about the only way to clean it.

Yes. As long as the vehicle is off and the throttle body is unplugged (as shown in video), it will be fine.

You can clean it with MAF sensor cleaner. There is a can specifically for cleaning MAF sensors, use that one nothing else.

I took the one hose off as suggested and coolant came out of both the hose and throttle body. How do I not have this happen?

no. always use CRC TB cleaner different solving agents in certain chemical cleaners will ruin or even cuase more damage using the wrong cleaner
