Eggs dehydrate over time, that is why old eggs(store bought, 7-9 months old) when hard boiled will peel easier because the inside has shrunk and separated from the membrane. It is not a good idea to store them in a container that can't breathe unless you watertable them(submerse clean, UNWASHED eggs in water with hydrated lime). I don't know if it is ok to eat eggs that have molded, that's why I'm here.
My dad drilled holes in the tops of their containers and ours to allow moisture to escape. It has drastically cut down on the mold problems for them and for us.
It may be possible to do a vinegar wipe, but we would rather not take the chance. Besides, we got 18 eggs in one day this week, so we will be able to replace these in a short time.
@@homesteadingatkookergehoft8131 Im going to crack some open and cook them anyway. I can always give my dogs the extra protein and am sure some mold spots wont upset them.
is it possible to boil them ? ran into the same problem. I soaked them in salt water wiping the mold off first hand. I can't find any information on this subject
@@homesteadingatkookergehoft8131 i boiled them and ruined about 12, but scrambled the rest and gave them all to my flock. They are fjne and now I don't feel like a total failure. lol!
As a heads up I just had some moldy eggs; they were in moist basement. I hard boiled and when cracked open the mold did penetrate shell and left spots on egg whites
I know. *sigh* It's almost as bad as throwing out breastmilk when unfortunate events occur. But at least our resident outside mommas will benefit, so it's not completely wasted.
I came here searching if it's ok to eat eggs with mold on the shell 😂 ok then i'll throw it away

Honestly, I don't know. We usually have enough fresh eggs that we decided to purge these and not take a chance with potential illness.

Could you lay off the laying mash for a while till you almost catch up?
I wish I lived near you. I would be an egg customer if you sold them.
I just had this last night. Just got the eggs from TESCO
