I just purchased this machine and one of the first things I washed was a queen comforter. I had ZERO problems with soap remaining in the comforter. In fact, I could just barely smell the Downy softener I had used. Coming from a Kenmore Elite HE front loader, the difference in rinsing the comforter was night and day better with the LG machine. I have never used any machine that did a better job rinsing all clothes or the queen comforter. It is possible that you used a Tide pod, which really is not what this washer is designed for, and that caused your problems, it is hard to say. I would suggest that you rerun this test using liquid detergent loaded in the top tray. It's my guess that your results will become completely different. I think that you owe it to your viewers to redo this test properly. Also if you put too much soap into ANY front loading washing machine, it will have a suds lock feature. My Kenmore Elite was the best washer made at the time (about 15 years ago) and if you put too much soap in it, it would stop the cycle and and a "SUDS" notification would come on. You think had to rinse the clothes without the wash cycle completing - just like what occurred with you. It is quite possible that by adding the Tide Pod, you added too much soap for this washer and it was just functioning as it was designed. I have never used Tide pods or any other pods particularly for this reason. Unless the washer is designed to use them, using a pod can cause problems. So far I have only read of one machine designed to use pods and that is Electrolux. I did not purchase that washer because it has a very poor reliability rating and it cost substantially more than the WM3900.
I,m just grabbing at straws here but to date everything thing I have thrown at this washer has come out clean without any problems. I always toss in my pod before I do a load. I rewatched the video and the pod was just kind of pushed into the middle of the comforter. I would also use the bedding cycle too. I know the chances of this causing the suds lock are slim to none but I will do what I have been doing when washing my king size comforter. I mention this as I saw it now says epic fail in the advertisement for this video. I find this washer and the companion dryer to be excellent machines. Words used in a video or the advertisement of such video have power, good, bad, or otherwise. To express this occurrence of suds lock as an "Epic Fail" when to date it has washed everything you have thrown at made me wince. I'm not a shill for LG or any other corporation but simply the owner of this model of machine. I will revisit this post when I get around to washing my own comforter.
To me, this video is not realistic anyway. that comforter was obviously way too big for that tub. And like you said, if the Tide Pod got thrown in the middle it wouldn't have been effective.
Yes, it's always amazing how people have problems when they use machines in ways contrary to how they are intended - like not putting soap in the dispenser, tweaking the fill switch to overfill, etc. It's never the half-baked crap they do contrary to the manufacturers instructions, but the machines fault :p
The suds lock use to happen to me when i had my Lg and then one time it happened, I put a little fabric softener and a cup of water into the detergent dispenser so that it would go down to the pump and it cleared it up 1,2,3 in a matter of just 60 seconds!!! Thanks for the video Eugene and have a great weekend!!!
This is not a case of the washer failing, its customer misuse. I have repaired and tested hundreds of LG washers and never had one with a suds lock yet. Lots of Samsungs, not LG. The machine did its job in flushing out the excess suds and completed the cycle which is great! put the soap pack in first before the laundry so it can dissolve properly or use liquid HE OR POWDERED in DISPENSER. You only need about 2 tablespoons usually. I think you should re-do this test.
Pods can’t be used with comforters. I really don’t recommend pods with anything as they’re the most expensive way to wash and can’t be made proportionate with laundry loads or types. For instance if you’re washing dark laundry you should use less detergent or clothing can be faded. It’s worse with dishwashers. Examine the inside of a dishwasher’s dispenser. Those hash marks are there for different water hardnesses and the protection of the surfaces of your glasses from permanent acid etching. People use pods use them because they’ve been sold a bill of goods based on convenience, don’t know how to care for their hard earned fruits of their labor, and think it tastes like candy.
@@fadidan84 aswell they do tonnes of suds, my grandma used Persil pods in her washer and nearly the suds started coming out from the drawer, it sudslocked so badly that the washer enabled automatically an emergency extra rinse + pods are super expensive as you have said

I'm washing my queen comforter now I hope all goes well so far so good I definitely didn't use a pod. Default setting was used with a extra rinse and turbo wash next time i will keep that setting off it looks like it produced extra suds.
I use liquid Detergent when I use the bedding cycle to wash comfortables. Since it don't use alot of water I use half the use and still comes put clean. I also use extra rinse to make sure the subs are out.

I have a set similar to this one, works fine for me. I think the laundry pods don’t distribute as evenly as liquid or powder detergent do so I tend to avoid them. Works great though!
Excess suds and soap residue can be removed from wash by using 1 cup of white vinegar and running the item through a cycle. For future washes of these types of items, use Tide HE liquid detergent rather than a Tide Pod and reduce the recommended amount by 1/2. A little goes a long way in front loaders and certain fabrics react differently to laundry detergent. Then use the vinegar in the rinse cycle instead of fabric softener. Place 3 wool balls in the dryer with item. Tumble dry as usual. The item will come out soft without any detergent, fabric softener or dryer sheet residue.
It also decreases the opportunity of smells and mold growth in the washer. I use vinegar with every load because of it's disinfectant properties and it prevents my laundry from smelling stale when hung in the closet for long periods of time before wearing. And it is a great fabric softener when used during the rinse cycle.
@@mfrmll3786 No. The vinegar enhances the smell of your laundry detergent because it kills germs and odors on fabrics. I'm sure if you put too much it would but I haven't had that problem.
Suzanne Russell don't use pods when washing your comfortable on a front loader. Use the liquid and make sure you use the correct setting like bulky/bedding or comfortable cycle
Agree with David use a small amount of liquid or powder detergent In the dispenser. Tide pods even tho HE work great on mixed clothing loads but even then make tons of suds.
I have a pair of LG model WM5000HVA and the cycle I used is always towels with pre wash, so the steps I follow put the kingsize comforter and put in the pre wash space a bit of powder to start and watering the comforter, then as soon as it change to main wash I love to stay watching al the time, and agitates for 15min, at the end of this 15min I put paused and move the soil level to reset and add another 15min of agitate, and follow this step 2 times, in this cycle the water level is massive that why I choose this cycle, and.results become fantastic
I was wondering , did you tried washing it again with less soap? I agree with the rest. It’s clearly the machine was struggling with all that soap and reading that it needed to start its spin and not releasing soap. I can see the machine not knowing what to do here. Anyhow when that happens, I think out would of put pause and restart the process and again wash but no more soap .
Had this same problem just needs hard reset . Unplug hold power button 5 seconds then replugged. I think there is a calibration that gets out of whack when u move it while still plugged in
My LG seems to have a desire for suds lock in that while it is cranking up to spin the pump is off more than it's on. I'm guessing the proximity of the inner tub to the outer one is so close that almost any low-suds detergent will froth unless so little detergent is used the wash is inadequate. Also it seems unable to recognize a balanced load, slowing and sometimes reversing until the load is unbalanced. Once it gets through what I call the resonant frequency during the speed-up it can often complete the spin cycle, but the balanced load would have been superior. It seems the highest speed is never quite reached with unbalanced loads.
Looks like I am now shopping for a replacement for my Amana ALW480DAW top load washer that served me flawlessly for 23 years. I can't find a replacement tub seal, so it looks like the end of the line unless I can find a more modern Speed Queen tub to put in there. So I have been considering the LG front load washers, and I saw your other video about replacing the tub seal in bearings in those units (excellent video, BTW). I am fairly mechanically inclined, have rebuild car engines and transmissions, but that looks like a fairly involved job. Is 5-6 years about all the life I can expect to see out of those bearings? My brother had a couple of other brands of FL washers and disposed of both of his for bearing issues as well. Is it too much to expect a modern washing machine to last 10-15 years like my old FL?
What is the noise level like? I have to have my washing machine in the house with me and so a machine that doesn't make too terrible a noise is important. My old Kenmore was loud but not grinding noises. New Maytag top loader impeller style makes a terrible grinding noise that I hate. How does the LG WM3900H stand noise-wise?
Suds Lock? was it due to the cycle chosen? I notice you use pods so I don't know if Roberts comments apply? If this is a potential issue on front loads, a suds lock video (how to resolve) would be great!. Keep up the good work, if i lived in Cleveland i would certainly buy from you sir! Go Browns.
It's not washer's fail! The amount of suds depends on the amount/type of detergent and the type of fabric (synthetic lightweight fabrics tend to create a lot of suds)
The term suds lock is a new one on me. I can't help but wonder how and why this happened? I am glad I watched this video before I decided to wash my king size comforter. I am a little disappointed but glad I don't wash the comforter very often. Will be watching my machine when I do.
How would suds (bubbles) be such a major issue that would prevent this big bad machine from spinning ? Just how temperamental are these front loaders ?
it was a problem with the pod, not the washer. i think the pod popped during the spin. imo pods are bad and you aren’t supposed to use them with bedding
There is no need to take it to a laundromat. This machine will handle it just fine. From my own machine, it is not good to use pods on blankets, comforters, large loads, ETC. I have had mine suds lock every time I used them in mentioned loads. Now I just use Tide Sport and use WAY less than even Tide suggest and everything is good!
Great upload and nice looking comforter. Where did you buy it? I believe that’s the fall of modern washer technology; they don’t perform to the efficiency and effectiveness necessary to launder people’s clothes. I’m not fortunate to have a in house washer, I have to go to a laundromat.
Front loaders are a general overall fail, especially with suds. Our 2006 whirlpool direct drive would've spun this easily even with 3-6 inches of suds on the stuff.
Costco has a clearance sale on the WM3770HVA | DLGX3571V gas combo for $1,549. Do you anticipate washer dryer prices to increase with all these tariffs?
I just got the WM3900 for $1800 from Costco (delivered, $150 more for black vs. white) so the pricing seems to have been pretty steady. If they still would have had that model in stock, it would have been at a similar price still.
Do a bit of research on detergents. I would never use a tide pod when doing a comforter, or a pod of any sort to be honest. I would use liquid detergent and linen wash and that’s it. Rewash the comforter with no detergent.
I am waiting right now to get my new LG set to be picked up for return. These new NO WATER units are a joke to anyone who knows how to do laundry and keep clothes looking NEW for decades. Taking 2 hours to wash towels! How does that conserve anything. Give me some dam water and cut the cycle to 30 minutes and the towels are not scrubbed to death and power use reduced by 75% and the items will Last several years instead of weeks. My description of the “New way” is YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE DOWN AT THE CREEK SCRUBBING CLOTHES ON A ROCK. And for those of you who are biting into the new theory of BLAME THE USER - NO WATER IN THIS THING IS NOT MY FAULT. I do know how to do laundry and know very well. IT TAKES WATER. Sometimes HOT water. These new regulations have been bought and paid for by clothing industry interests. These units save NOTHING by shortening the life of your items and ruining the items washed in them. THANK YOU FOR THIS EPIC FAIL VIDEO LETS GET THE GOVT OUT OF OUR DIRTY CLOTHES! I think we can handle our laundry on our own.
LGs definitely are bad dealing with too much foam, but using pods definitely dont help. Most comforters I seen say use max 1/3 of normal amount of detergent, so I think one pod was clearly too much...
Just another LG hater.... Hey, try to do that to your beloved Whirlpool, GE or Kenmore. LG just built and started manufacturing locally in TN. LG is not a foreign brand anymore. It's our TN's pride now.. I can't wait now how LG is going to stump and grind to dust those sarcastic and inferior manufacturers like Whirlpool and Kenmore....... Kudos to LG and the world No.1 washing machine manufacturer. So glad we now have our own plant here in the States!!!
suds lock on HE detergent? impressive tbh... this is why i tend to use a home made detergent anyway (borax, laundry soap etc. look up diy powder laundry detergent). its better for the washer anyway because it helps combat the corrosion that these washers suffered from years ago where the backing plate for the drum would corrode away as one of the ingredients is a water softener in the detergent
@OneDayAfterAnother correct, sudslock is where there are too many suds and not enough water to drain effectively. the pump is designed for liquids and not foam and therefore will take forever to drain because suds are mostly air bubbles. on top of that suds dont flow down to the drain as quickly so even if they ARE being pumped, it takes quite a while
@OneDayAfterAnother Old Kenmore and Whirlpool belt drive washers were prone to suds locking with the high sudsing detergents back in the day. A suds lock can be detrimental to a washer as it slows the spin down and also because the foam causes friction between the two tubs which puts more strain on the motor.
@Polo2k 98 Wrong detergent ? What would be examples of wrong detergents? Aren't they ALL supposed to be for washers ? When I use powder detergent the water gets a slick feeling to it. I have somewhat hard water. Don't know exactly though. Liquids don't make the water slick even in a front loader I've noticed so I don't know if they actually soften water . I imagine hard water has a lot to do with corrosion of these spiders in front loaders. I assume powders to be better as far as protecting washer parts. Do detergent manufacturers even put washer parts protecting chemicals in their product anymore ?
That is a lie in my opinion. I have had my WHIRLPOOL DUET HT Front loading set from 2004, and it works beautifully. The reason it suds locked was because of the pod.

He put the pod in the middle of the comforter. Throw pods in first.
I think there is a calibration that gets out of whack when u move it while still plugged in
LG doesn't get comforters wet enough let alone clean them. Still dry at end of cycle. Comforter still dirty after two 2 hour cycles(normal).
Either way, they spin up to whatever was selected.
Have you noticed any issues with mold forming around the jet things?
You are supposed to use a third amount of detergent for duvets.
Could you do a samsung washer
Go Browns.
pour in some fabric softner. suds are gone instantly.
It was the pods fault. Had nothing to do with the washer, or its performance.
When that drain pump is running at full speed, it kinda sounds like the old type
I heard a air compressor in the background were u airing up something
It's not washer's fail!
The amount of suds depends on the amount/type of detergent and the type of fabric (synthetic lightweight fabrics tend to create a lot of suds)
The term suds lock is a new one on me. I can't help but wonder how and why this happened? I am glad I watched this video before I decided to wash my king size comforter. I am a little disappointed but glad I don't wash the comforter very often. Will be watching my machine when I do.
The term suds lock, has been around for YEARS, even in the 80's and 90's.
I've never heard the term until today either. I've never had a front load washer.
You had to take it to the dry cleaner man, smh. Too big for that washer.
They tell you to put liquid soap
Yes - detergent pods are beyond evil - and wasteful; that's WAY too much detergent for low water consuming machines like these.
Hi, what's the capcity in kilograms of this front loader? and what size or how many kilos should i buy for me to be able to wash pillows 20x30" size?
😂😂 I can just hear him talking about the solar lights he's bought for his garden. 😂🤣🤣
This is exactly what my LG washer does.. doesn't matter what type of soap or how little I use it happens every time.
Using HE?
I would have used wool cycle. I would stop using tide pods. German made Persil products. Persil professional universal. Only 1/8 cup
Sorry, new to front loaders...Just what is a suds lock?
A "Suds Lock," is when there is a lot of suds, preventing the washer from spinning up to speed.
How would suds (bubbles) be such a major issue that would prevent this big bad machine from spinning ? Just how temperamental are these front loaders ?
What do you think about the "Exploding" Samsung machines?
I think it's great.. Yes, for sure Samsng machine sales are "Exploding"!
If turbo wash were to be switched off would this still occur?
Just curious.
it was a problem with the pod, not the washer. i think the pod popped during the spin. imo pods are bad and you aren’t supposed to use them with bedding
Can review any other washers then LG’s I got really bored tho show Samsung or any other brands
Sultan Sultan Why would anyone want to waste their time with crap washers? Keep reviewing LG...
@@hsew What are crap washers in your opinion ?
@@patcola7335 I think he was referring to SAMSUNG
Did you take the plastic off?
The phrase “EPIC FAIL” is only used for elevators, not washing machines.
For real ?
Use Persil powder and take that thing to a commercial laundromat with a bigger tub!
@@ericpippen7915 These water efficient front loading washers that use only 16 ounces of water to clean an entire comforter are just no good.
How many kilograms can this machine holds?
Great upload and nice looking comforter. Where did you buy it?
I believe that’s the fall of modern washer technology; they don’t perform to the efficiency and effectiveness necessary to launder people’s clothes.
I’m not fortunate to have a in house washer, I have to go to a laundromat.
Front loaders are a general overall fail, especially with suds. Our 2006 whirlpool direct drive would've spun this easily even with 3-6 inches of suds on the stuff.
@@nl.515 front loaders are the best you can get.
Costco has a clearance sale on the WM3770HVA | DLGX3571V gas combo for $1,549. Do you anticipate washer dryer prices to increase with all these tariffs?
LG is made in Korea. Are there tariffs for Korean made items?
Please do a review on GE GTW845 or GE GTW725 with agitator. Thanks!
suds lock on HE detergent? impressive tbh... this is why i tend to use a home made detergent anyway (borax, laundry soap etc. look up diy powder laundry detergent). its better for the washer anyway because it helps combat the corrosion that these washers suffered from years ago where the backing plate for the drum would corrode away as one of the ingredients is a water softener in the detergent
although iirc the corrosion issue was mostly samsung, not lg...
@OneDayAfterAnother powder detergent is the way to go. Liquid detergent wl kill a washing machine
Plese sports wear program !
Seems like LG doesn't do good on comforter.
Alec Bailey I wash king size comforters and quilts with no problems in my older model turbowash LG. I never use pods, just liquid or powder detergent.
@@brigitas9176 yeah. It just might be the pod has too much soap in it.
Tide pods are not good for this washer.
Not a fair test - pods don't work well!!!!!
WELL DUH you used to much
You would watch this for an hour....this poster is a fool!!!! Skip to 1:07:00
Only in ohio washing machine 💀💀💀
All front load washers for home use SUCK!
My old machine lasted 21 years...now i own a AEG, they are perfect.
That is a lie in my opinion. I have had my WHIRLPOOL DUET HT Front loading set from 2004, and it works beautifully. The reason it suds locked was because of the pod.
While I appreciate the upload, I would have preferred a narrated review. Thanks.
