My interpretation of the story is: the blue knees demon in that children's story book was looking to cross into the world by possession. Madison was it's first target but before she could complete the ritual she was shot and killed by cops, however since she had already killed 4 people the demon probably already had a good hold of her and half taken over her soul. The camera was the conduit for the demon to cross barriers into the world and the ritual involved sacrifices and taking pictures of the dead bodies. The story book and camera eventually came into Elizabeth's possession, Luca's grand mother. The demon attempted to possess Eli but she must've committed suicide before it could. Eventually the camera was passed down to Luca, who cut off mother leg and sister's arm killing them both. The demon then controlled him to finish the ritual with Luca being the final sacrifice needed. With Luca dead his body would be fresh for the taking. The ending when we see him gasping and resuscitated, that would be the demon inside of Luca's body in full control of it. The old naked and bloody women we see in the hallucinations isn't the grand mother but was Madison, the way she looked when the demon was already half done possessing before she was killed.

She was about to complete The Ritual before being shot by Officer Russel. Blue Knees then lived on in The Polaroid Camera of Madison and The Children's Book she wrote "Blue Knees". Johnny's Grandfather and Grandmother then bought Madison's House in The 80s to live there. They brought home The Blue Knees book through unknown (for me, at least) means which makes The Demon able to possess Elizabeth. But before The Demon could complete a full transformation of Elizabeth. She committed suicide before it had the chance. Albert then became obsessed in contacting Elizabeth again that he refused to leave the house and used different kinds of rituals to contact her. Some time passes, and Johnny grew up, married, and had kids. One of them is Luca. The Polaroid is passed down to Luca by His Grandfather, that's when Blue Knees started possessing Luca. He killed His Mother and Sister before waking up and running away from his dad. Which led him to The Old House belonging to His Grandfather. Here is where The Game starts. You are tasked to complete the ritual through The Polaroid Camera's help. Blue Knees slowly deteriorates Luca both in body and mind until he becomes The Final Sacrifice, replacing His Father's Place and being fully possessed by Blue Knees shortly after. Bringing The Demon in a Physical, Real World Form.

I had no idea what was going on in the story but I totally agree with you now. I actually didn't like the game due to its confusing plot line feeling as if it wasn't connected or thought out, but now I think it's actually a hidden gem. I'm planning on watching this back with your plot in mind, but to add to it I think the gas chamber dude might have had 7,5,4, or whatever the number of kills, Madison had x amount of kills, and so on until the ritual is finished. The ending is 100% inspired by outlast 1's ending comparing to the wall rider possessing the main characters body
The thing that makes me scratch my head is that when Luca finds his grandmothers diary she speaks of unusual happening around the house dated 1972. And then madison did her thing in 1987. 😭
Was watching this and falling half-asleep to the sound of it, then Charlie did his little 'Jumpscare prediction' thing at 35:49, needless to say the quick shot of adrenaline definitely helped me stop zonking out. Thanks for that, bud.

Love to see Charlie find an actual decent horror game, made me smile when he jumped at 9:23. Goes to show you can make a decent horror game if you know how to pace storyline and jump scares really well. For me F.E.A.R is a prime example for me but its outdated now but still holds up well if you've never played it before. Hope we get something similar to it in this century.

Finished this game about 2 days ago, VEEEERY good horror game, one of the problems I always had with horror games (especially those which contained puzzles in them) was getting lost around the map not knowing what to do at times, BUT I noticed something strange in MADiSON, no matter what I did and how I did it, the game would almost lead me to the answers, that just goes to show you how much thought the development team has put into the game and its progression...
How is this good? The player's voice is annoying and the scares are predictable and monster designs are uninspired. Would've been better if the player didn't speak at all.

Doing some research and going over collectables it seems like a relatively cut and dry ending. Luca is dead, Madison is in possession, the priest was too late, and the whole family is dead. That's at least what I was able to find

Always love when Charlie finds a genuinely good horror game and is like "This game is actually really good and really scary!" Then he just doesn't react to anything. Even in his old school videos it was the same way.
Charlie. Early on in the game, in the room that had the wall with all of the scribblings for the well, there are notes on the wall detailing Madison Hale's story. She was murdering people to perform a ritual and transfer her soul into another body. According to the book that was sitting in the chair, the body exchange ritual Madison was trying to complete needed 7 sacrifices, a sentimental item, a guest and a host, and human ashes. I feel like Blue Knees was just a red herring. The someone that was watching Elizabeth and her family, as Grandma describes in her diary, was Madison all along. We know this because we do see the two entities, Madison and Blue Knees, separately as we play through the game, and the family is living in the house of Madison Hale who at this point we believe is still there trying to finish her ritual. I believe Madison was trying to use Grandma to finish the ritual initially but she turned out to be too weak to finish the job and was losing her eyesight as a result of Madison trying to exert control over her. I think this is backed up by the priest's audio logs and the diary entries in grandma's diary. "The Dark Entity manipulates its host with visual hallucinations and voices in the mind. Destroying the sanity of the host is for the purpose of making them malleable... compliant." In the end, Grandma dying and being cremated ends up playing in Madison's favor because she needed the ashes anyhow. Madison had tallied up 4 victims before she was shot, killed, and able to complete her ritual. Luca wasn't chosen for any particular reason, he was just gifted Madison's camera. So, she ends up influencing and using Luca to finish the job. Luca killed his sister, his mother, and was supposed to kill his Dad, but since Dad was nowhere to be found, he had to sacrifice himself as the 7th murderer for Madison to complete her ritual. The ending with the picture signifies that she did end up possessing his body after he died since the picture burned and he reawakened.

I love watching Charlie playing horror games, it’s hilarious having a monotone guy playing a supposed to be scary game with the straightest face possible.
The dialogue and voice acting in this is hilarious lol. It sounds like the devs just recruited random relatives instead of actually paying people who do it. If you're making a game, especially a horror game, remember that voice acting and dialogue is not always needed and it will probably be better without it lmao.

Finished this game about 2 days ago, VEEEERY good horror game, one of the problems I always had with horror games (especially those which contained puzzles in them) was getting lost around the map not knowing what to do at times, BUT I noticed something strange in MADiSON, no matter what I did and how I did it, the game would almost lead me to the answers, that just goes to show you how much thought the development team has put into the game and its progression...
Even if its a very good horror game, its still a horror game, so its trash lmao.

Always love when Charlie finds a genuinely good horror game and is like "This game is actually really good and really scary!" Then he just doesn't react to anything. Even in his old school videos it was the same way.
Charlie. Early on in the game, in the room that had the wall with all of the scribblings for the well, there are notes on the wall detailing Madison Hale's story. She was murdering people to perform a ritual and transfer her soul into another body.
According to the book that was sitting in the chair, the body exchange ritual Madison was trying to complete needed 7 sacrifices, a sentimental item, a guest and a host, and human ashes.
I feel like Blue Knees was just a red herring. The someone that was watching Elizabeth and her family, as Grandma describes in her diary, was Madison all along. We know this because we do see the two entities, Madison and Blue Knees, separately as we play through the game, and the family is living in the house of Madison Hale who at this point we believe is still there trying to finish her ritual.
I believe Madison was trying to use Grandma to finish the ritual initially but she turned out to be too weak to finish the job and was losing her eyesight as a result of Madison trying to exert control over her. I think this is backed up by the priest's audio logs and the diary entries in grandma's diary. "The Dark Entity manipulates its host with visual hallucinations and voices in the mind. Destroying the sanity of the host is for the purpose of making them malleable... compliant." In the end, Grandma dying and being cremated ends up playing in Madison's favor because she needed the ashes anyhow.
Madison had tallied up 4 victims before she was shot, killed, and able to complete her ritual. Luca wasn't chosen for any particular reason, he was just gifted Madison's camera. So, she ends up influencing and using Luca to finish the job.
Luca killed his sister, his mother, and was supposed to kill his Dad, but since Dad was nowhere to be found, he had to sacrifice himself as the 7th murderer for Madison to complete her ritual. The ending with the picture signifies that she did end up possessing his body after he died since the picture burned and he reawakened.
He didn’t have to hang himself tho? He could’ve just left like his dad did.

You may be hearing a combination of both and you may not even notice the difference. Also, Voice acting was fine.
