The games after that were all good, but the addition of voice acting and buggy releases like Beyond Gotham took away some of the magic.
I'm so proud I found that Darth maul light skip by myself as a kid when I first played it, when I saw the lamp on the right I was fixated on it and trying to jump at it and eventually it worked, I showed a few friends and it was how I usually got past that part of the fight whenever I'd free play that level. Never knew I'd found such a big speedrun strat as a kid haha.
I like the way the pendulum swings in speedrunning - times get optimized over time, the harder the time saves the more incentive for a new strat, new strats get developed, which incentivizes players to optimize times again employing the new strats. All very interesting

Fun fact: my brother and I got this game for Christmas the year it came out and had a ton of fun playing it, but we were sometimes really unclear on how to make progress and I remember accidentally discovering some of these skips while trying to figure it out. Specifically I remember being in that room with C3P0 where you're supposed to build the cart to get him up on the ledge to open the door but that metal idiot can't jump the 3 inches up to reach it. I can't remember how long we were stuck there but I do remember I figured out you could run into him and slap him up there you just had to be careful not to kill him at the same time but you could always tell how many hearts he had by his limbs. That and I remember flying around the gates, but I don't remember having to do all those flips to get up there, I think what happened was I'd get stuck along that edge and before I could figure out how to get up it my brother would get frustrated and insist I stop wasting time because we knew how to do that one. Fun memory trip, hadn't thought about any of that for years.

The thing about the complete saga release on the xbox 360 and mobile is that it uses a localized save file so if you for some reason deleted the game wether it was an accident or not you cant get your saves back

Being a speedrunner sounds like such a waste of time to me. Like sure, you may hold a record after spending weeks of your time figuring out the perfect route and possibly even longer to get the perfect run on record, but then a month later some other guy comes along and undercuts you by 20 minutes.
have you ever played sports? ever heard of enjoying being competitive? the point is competing to push a game to its limits. just as you lose your record, you can keep getting more. it’s about the continuous cycle of improving yourself.
If raid just replaces all of their goofy knock off characters with real life celebrities rendered in a fantasy game with their own personal touches, it would be kinda fun!
