Nice one! Congratulations! I also own a Schecter E1 Evil Twin. Quality is insanely great and I love the look of it. I only wish that they offer a 7 string version.
Korean Schecters are the best value for money on the market. Made by World Musical Instruments, the factory that used to make the PRS SE models, before they moved the SE line to Indonesia and makes the ESP/ LTD Deluxe Series. One of the things that I really like about the Korean Schecters: they have high-end pickups instead of some cheapo humbuckers. They have either active EMG or Fishman Fluence pickups or Made in USA custom Schecter passive humbuckers. And Schecter was originally a pickup company, before making guitars. They have a long history in pickup design, the first after market humbuckers with coil-splitting were Schecter pickups in the early 80´s, even before Dimarzio & S. Duncan had this function.
This video of yours made pick this guitar while searching for an Explorer. And man, am I glad I picked this one. I don’t have many guitars and I really did not want to choose wrong. Thanks!
I recently bought a E1 FRS in green from Schecter as a very long time, seasoned superstrat-only player and I didn't expect to like it as much as I do ! The Schecter pickups did grow on me quite a bit too, I didn't like them at first coming from BKPs and high output actives but after a few weeks and recording sessions they're really good pickups. I will still change the bridge for an SD Jupiter rail to be able to tune it down to C standard without having to deal with any mud
Well, since Gibson sued everyone else this is one of the few Explorers which isn't Gibson and still doesn't look ridiculous. I'm still not done modding my old LTD EX and Dean Z but in case i want another Explorer-style guitar this is probably first choice for me.
I've had the Schecter C-7 FR for 15 years. It has served me incredibly well, and it plays and sounds great to this day. I will always recommend Schecter guitars to anyone looking to buy a new guitar. I think the E1 Apocalypse looks great, but I have to say that the strings not being in line with the tuning pegs to that extent is a no-go, especially in this case without a locking nut. But that is my only nitpick. The rest of the features are stellar. And your observation about the neck shape are certainly my experience as well.
I have the Custom E-1 and the Apocalypse E-1. Both are outstanding guitars. I too have kinda gravitated away from my Gibson Explorers for these. Big reason why is the neck shape. It feels like it was custom made for my hand. They are so well built too. Great review as always. Thank you.
@@ChiefRunningBear56 The stock bridge pick up is the Sunset Strip. It was pretty good. Solid pick up...but I swapped mine out for Seymour Duncan Custom 5 (SH-14). It NAILS early Met tone to a tee. Get you an e-1. They are as addicting as cigarettes. Edit: The Apocalypse E-1 picks-ups are pretty close to the Custom 5, there was no need to change them.
What a beauty ❤️🎸❤ been eyeing this guitar for a while now… wish they made a 7 string V version of it. All my guitars are Elixir Optiwebs … great strings 💪 cheers and great review 🍻 I would want to keep that beauty as well 😂
I've always wanted to track down the wood finish Apocalypse explorer. The red and the sweetwater purple look cool, but there's something about the wood finish one. Looks like a solid guitar, not sure how I feel about the pickups but they performed better than I thought clean.
very nice guitars, my favourite is the les paul shape (solo 6) without any BS tremolo system!. the pickups are a bit dark sounding and unfortunately, you can`t get any replacement parts from schecter for the special matt painted hardware which crumbles easily👿
@SonicDriveStudio guitar looks and sounds amazing. Just wondering if this body shape would be comfortable to play sitting down in the classical position? Would the bulky back and jack placement get in the way?
Adrian Smith and his red Ibanez then later Jackson made him a red one, id love to see him play one of these live, but! He is Jackson endorsed. My E-1 Schecter is friggin killer, i was blown away. I see purchasing this modal in the future. This shape along with the V fit my personality, they just say play me. Great demo., I feel these pickups are most certainly hotter than my E-1 Standard.
Pay attention 9:13 The reflection of your fill light on this guitar…giving the whole thing a Resident Evil Umbrella Corp vibe with the ominous music….*drool
This is a beautiful guitar - Schecter knocks it out of the park again. BTW - Sweetwater has an exclusive PURPLE Reign (get it?) finish version of this guitar that is gorgeous. They are both backordered right now but I may pick one up when they are back in stock!
I just picked up a e1 evil twin about a week ago. It's similar to this guitar except it's a 7 piece neck and it has fishmans. The finish is also different obviously. Great guitar, it sounds amazing and the build quality is outstanding. Schecter is putting out some really high quality guitars these days
I got my Apocalypse C1 EX 2 years ago, same pickups, just a longer scale and its a fantastic guitar ! 🤘 The finish is all rusty grey satin and I prefer it that way, but those are very cool guitar ! 🔥
Finally someone does this guitar some justice! Been thinking about picking this up as my Drop C/B guitar considering the shape is my favorite. I was curious as to how the stop tail would work with that ibstead of it being a string-thru. Other than that everything else would be things I'd choose for a custom EX guitar. I MUST HAVE IT!
I really dig Schecter's take on the E-shape. It's probably the best one next to the original Explorer. I own a PT Apocalypse and would like one of these as well. Maybe one day...
Amazing guitar!! The only E type that makes me want to own one, they are not my style, but I'd be happy with this one. I'd love one that has the front finish just the same as the back of this one, I'd get one in a pinch!!!
That is one sexy guitar! Also, tasty riffs Jon! What bands or genres inspire you when writing these kind of riffs? I sense some Melodic Death Metal, Black Metal, Metalcore, 80's Heavy Metal/AOR and Megadeth in those riffs haha!
Dude, I’ve been running Schecters since 2007 when I saw it was good enough for Papa Roach. I simply don’t understand WHY they do what they do for such low cost. At this point, they’ve been doing it for so long and IN a society where people work hard and don’t quit their job all the time so I feel like the skills of the builders and teachers of building at Schecter have gone way up. On this guitar, I love that back. It’s obviously not a AAA piece of wood but it’s “true to itself”. There’s no hiding, “I’m making these sounds with a hunk of wood yet I’m riding this flame (top) to the apocalypse”. Dope, Schecter! I’ll take one with an OG Floyd Rose!
The pieces on the back may not look A grade, although they made it look like apocalyptic wood 😅 so it's kind of on purpose, but, the body sounds A grade for sure!
I've got an solar gc1.6 tbr that a guys want to exchange with an schecter E1 apocalypse rusty grey. I am thinking because the single cut shape is not for me. I think this guitar would be more comfortable. How it is comfortable and how the pickup compare too??
That shape is a really nice take on the Explorer. The 'Red Reign' finish I believe it's called does look bad-ass...but I'm sure they also did these with an all over finish like the back side i.e. that greyed swamp ash and I think that looks really classy. I know they did the more traditional C1 shape in that finish, I'm sure they did the E1 too. A shame they don't currently offer both finishes so you have one that is more in your face and one that is, as I say, a bit classier. The thing that puts the E1 further down my Schecter wishlist is the neck...it's certainly not fat but is one step up from their ultra-slim C shape. I love the feel of the ultra-slim C on my Reaper-6 so most of the Schecters I'm interested in getting in the future have that ultra-slim neck. There was an E1 Exotic a while back with a koa top that looked awesome but had an even thicker neck than this one. I suppose if your budget is big enough you can get a Schecter USA Custom Shop with whatever specs you like. These Apocalypse pickups sound great. A lot of clarity despite the output, and great clean tone too. Perhaps not so heavy on the low end but that can be EQ'd to taste. I'd love to see you do a review on the new Sunset Triad models...the ones with the triple coil bridge pickups. You seem to have the best tone of all the guitar UA-camrs so it would be great to hear those triple coils through your amps. They have both a 6 and 7 string version. Apparently the extra coil boosts output but also low end which could really make the Apocalypse pickups more versatile...clarity and mid-range grind in the normal humbucker mode, plus a thick low end in the triple coil mode. The Sunset Triad models even have a single coil version of the Apocalypse pickup in the neck so it's cool to see Schecter playing around with their own in-house pickups.
I have a question....beautiful guitar btw, schecter is so good......I can get a Peavy 5150 2x12 combo from I guess the 90s? for about $750 US.......is that too much? if so how much should I offer, I have other amps so im not dying for this one but it be nice to have.
Ok...this or the LTD Phoenix 1000? I love Schecter and have 2, but I think the Firebird shape is more "livable" and I prefer the Duncan Custom and Phat Cat over the Apocalypse pickups.
I have a REALLY hard time accepting Schecter. I’m only speaking on my experience with them, so it makes wanting one practically impossible because I’m reminded of how bad mine was for what was seemingly a nice guitar
WHAT a killer guitar! Thoughts?
