I’m glad Darrel is one of the few youtubers who gives Schecter the respect it deserves as a brand. A lot of his videos say good things about Schecter and as someone who has owned 5 of them I can’t say enough good things about Schecter.
@@chrisflashmusic Went to their factory to pick up a guitar the owner donated to a charity fundraiser in Sun Valley, CA a few years ago. Yeah they import price point for Guitar Center, but their made in USA product is unreal. Muscle Cars and metal. If it's not for you, that's fine. but don't accuse them of not making quality product. Sounds like the brand isn't your style.
I have an omen extreme sii, Damien platinum seven string, and a c7 deluxe (the cheap one). And I’m in love with all three to be honest. They beat out my stienberger spirit and guild x-88. The X-88 is amazing but it’s so damn heavy for a six string and I’m not a huge fan of its 80’s khaler trem. I’m for sure getting the E1 special purple
I feel like Schecter is getting more and more recognition as a high quality option for people who play all kinds of styles. I haven't been playing guitar for very long even, but when I started I saw Schecter as just a metal guitar brand along the lines of ESP, but now I feel like I could see someone playing jazz on one and not bat an eye. Plus as you said, their South Korean models are very affordable, but still amazing.
Same conclusion here, I bought a C-1 Exotic Star some 10 years ago. The dark gray one. It looks like it's all metal and mayhem, but I've taught kids music in elementary school with it, and I love all the of smooth jazzy sounds I get from it. I haven't used the bridge pick-up that much. On the other hand, the tone pot has quite a lot of wear...
I've been playing schecter guitars for about 22 years and other guitar players knock me for it. They don't get the respect they deserve. They are always so well built. Love these schecter videos
I've always liked Schecter and felt they were underrated. I am not, however, a fan of the Thunderbird and Explorer shapes... Great tones from those pickups! I do like the finishes as well.
Hands down: That is a beautiful clean tone you have there. I enjoyed all the distorted parts but when that clean tone came in my Jaw dropped. Amazing stuff.
Your video drops are becoming sign of my sleeplessness :v 3 AM here I'll try to act responsibly and go for another round of falling asleep. I'm leaving sound demo for the morning. So far they look amazing I got soft spot for them neck through neck joints This binding matching looks cool too
@Jasson Poirier I'm not so sure it's all about the allocation of resources. The key thing that links PRS, Taylor, Schecter and a few others is that they're all headed up by people who have a passion for their products. Gibson, Fender et al are simply parts of short-sighted, soulless corporations where QC is perceived as a costly chore.
:D +1 I'd prefer Gibson as they are made in America, but currently they are on my do not buy list because of their corporate behavior. However, in my opinion Gibson management is very passionate about their primary product - trademark lawsuits and related extortion.
@@mikewhitfield2994 Just because something is made in your country of preference, does not mean that other countries can not make a superior product. American companies go to other countries for cheap labor and made with cheap parts at the choice of American CEOs, etc. Not the choice of the other country.
The banshee extreme 7 has the most beautiful fret work and rolled frets I've ever felt. The neck is shreddy yet still kind of chunky some how. The frets feel so smooth and chonky I love it. I have never found a company that checks it all of as well as them; old school updated or modern metal this company always tempting me
Great demo! Subscribed! Schecters quality for the money never ceases to amaze me. I've been a proud owner of Schecter over the years. I currently have a 2009 Schecter Ultra Classic neck through that I absolutely love. It's a pretty rare model that was around for 1 year. The following year Schecter changed the name to the Ultra DD for Dan Donegan of Disturbed. If you can find one used BUY IT. The other model I have is the A6 which is another relatively rare model. It has a nice ebony board with MOP Blocks like the E1 in this vid. Came standard with Hipshot Hardtail and Seymour Duncan Nazgul & Sentient set! Best bang for the buck guitars I own!
Love the Ultra. That 2 tier headstock is incredible I went to Schecter's site and I saw they made it in Satin white and Satin black as well. Just a suggestion, when you demo a guitar, maybe mention the available finishes and/or show pictures when possible. I was disappointed to find the E-1 just had the sunburst which I am not overly fond of. Great video as always!
Finally! I’ve been waiting for someone had a good mixed review of the e-1 custom! Sounds so good! I’m not the the biggest fans of the sunburst on this body, but it sounds awesome!
Thanks to Darrell’s great review of the Schecter Solo ii Custom, I got one, and I absolutely love it. I hadn’t heard of Schecter until I saw that review and I am so glad I did.
Bought a Donegan signature Ultra 2 years ago (2008 model year). Split pickups and only the one volume and tone pot. Kept the el Diablo in the bridge and ripped out the SD 59 in the neck, signal drop was too much for my tastes. Threw a JB bridge in the neck position and was simply delighted with the sound. Sounds great from clean to high gain and everything in between. Saw the new ones and wanted to hear the new pickups in them and am loving what I’m hearing so far. Will have to give one a serious test drive whenever one comes available near me, or any of the other ones I’ve seen you review actually!
The way that Ultra is built reminds me of the Reverend Gristlemaster.. looks like the neck through is raised from the body a bit. Definitely like it! The pickups in both sounded good, although I think I preferred the pickups in the E-1, especially with the split tone.
Funny story about my experience with Schecter that started with a review you did about a year ago featuring the T S/H 1. I fell in love with it only to find that it had been released a few years prior to your review as I searched for one to no avail. Fast forward to last month and I stumbled across the new version on their websight! Only this version is better as it rocks a Bigsby! I know I'll problably start an argument but.dare I say it plays better than my mid tier ( South Korean made) Electromatic Gretsch which is a pretty nice instrument itself. BTW the amount of offerings on Schecters sight is exhausting. Thanks for the vids, Darryl. Love your channel!
The finish on the E1 is my favorite type. If Epiphone had a Les Paul with that amber-red-black burst and black back, it would have been my mission in life to get one.
Great playing demos Darrell. One of your best videos. I preferred the sound of E1 it was a little brighter and less muddy. They both look fantastic but I couldn’t keep my eyes off that quilt top on the E1. 🤘
Definitely the Ultra ! Great looking guitar and seems like it would be very comfortable to play. I have the Schecter PT Special myself and absolutely love it. Very comfortable and the neck feels great. I also have a PRS Vela , an Older SG, and a MIM Strat, and I play the Schecter as much as any of them. In fact, it is my 2nd favorite just below the Vela. The Schecter is amazing quality for the money. I could easily see the Ultra being added to my arsenal.
Have loved Schecter for years. Owner of a C-1+ and a C-1 Hellraiser, both sound and feel fantastic. Great quality for the money. Nice retooling of the Thunderstruck riff, too. Caught my ear immediately!
Schecter has been killing it, especially over the last few years. They got rid of that skulls and abalone kick they were on and made instruments for almost every type of player. They could’ve leaned even heavier into only appealing to Metalheads (which is cool with me) but instead they made something for everyone with stacked specs at great prices! Looking to pick up a Km-III from them soon, but I dig the E-1!
I have had 4 schecter guitars. They're incredible and almost perfect (build quality) in every aspect. Very comfy and sounds great, easy to set up and sound great for every type of music. I only tried their diamond series guitars made in Korea, they look and sound and play like custom shop american that cost 3 times more.
I had 2 Ibanez, 3 ESPs and 2 Schecters in the past. I can confidently say, overall Schecter is a better company and they produce better guitars. Their Korean line is better that LTD and their custom shop reminds me of 80s Jackson USA quality. I am soooo happy with their products.
ThatBadGuy Im aware, but the price gap between the two are significant... LTD/Schecter are on par, and prefer schecter from my experience. As for ESP, it obviously will be better. Unless. Schecter Custom Shop is going head to head
Been loving all the attention you've been giving to Schecter recently. What a good brand. The E-1 might actually be my number one desired guitar at the moment. Such a beautiful instrument :)
I honest to God think that both Schecter and ESP are truly trying to think outside of the box and put out guitars that offer features that the bigger companies just won't budge on.
Must have individual volume for each pick up. That's a deal breaker. So the custom model s a no go even though I'd prefer the compound neck to the 14 inch radius. Will be checking out other schecter models like the 7 strings once the guitar shops reopen in Melbourne Australia after October 28. Can't wait. Thanx Darrell.
Love the look of the blue Ultra. I’m generally a traditionalist; prefer Teles or Les Pauls over shredder type guitars. The stepped front face looks really cool on the Ultra; looks like a Thunderbird/Tele hybrid. I just did a quick eBay search and was surprised to see a used black Ultra listed for only $450 (buy it now) and a couple others below $400. That’s a lot of guitar for sub $500 pricing...
That explorer style is pretty great. Are you going to look at Reverend guitars at some point? They seem to be doing their own thing and not just making standard S, T or LP models
I got a schecter e1 in black pearl for 400 dollars open box on ebay and it is right up there with my favorite guitars that are 1k and above. Absolutely love the sound and the feel and it stays in tune wonderfully
I'm not into the E-1 Body Shape, though I am into the woods and the finish on the E-1, along with the E-1 Neck Shape, Locking Tuners, Tusq Nut and asthetics, but would be better with the Ultra's Carbon Fiber rods in the E-1 Neck along sides of the double action adjustable Trussrod that are in the necks of both guitars. The pickups are the same on both guitars, so if the body of the Ultra was built with the E-1 Woods and Neck, and add on the Locking Tuners, then I would consider the Ultra for the raised center I have Schecter guitars with all these best features and Coil Splits. My Schecter C1 Exotic Vine of Life & C1 Exotic Spalted Maple & CR6 Aurora Burst, Apocalypse, Omen Elite, as well as my Carbon Black but it is just too dark finished on the top, so I sanded mine to Natural Satin Finish and I will Re-Finish it in a Trans Red or Blue in the future ! ! ! Schecter guitars are one of my go to electrics for Rock & Blues, pups & electronics can always be modified for just about any tone and genre you play. The whole guitar and strings gives you it's own Asthetics, Playability, Feel, and Unique Tone Dry or Wet Signal. Regardless of Logos, All of my guitars are Different and Unique. B's videos ! ! ! 👍🎸😎🙏 DDH 9-18-2020.
I own about 10 schecters, my ultra is my favorite, (mine is the limited run of Shelby blue with white racing stripes) but I also have 4 tempests, 1 being the tsh1 semi hollow. One thing I love about schecter is they're very consistent, all my tempests feel exactly the same. The sun valley super shredder does super strat thing better than most with the exception of charvel or a boutique manufacturer. I've never picked up a schecter that had sub par fret dress, even their entry level guitars are good. The only concern I have ever had was on their entry level guitars that have a unbranded float (floyd) on them, the blades wear out rather quickly.
Love the schecter e1 take on the explorer. In fact I think Jackson has one almost identical. But I was lucky to grab the custom e1 trans purple when it came out and absolutely love that guitar
The E1 looks like a Washburn Culprit. Dimebags "other" signature model when he played Washburns. The shape is damn near identical. A really cool take on an Explorer.
The E1 is beautiful but I like dedicated volume knobs for each pickup- I like the ability to dial in all those shades in the middle position and flip between a clean o one pickup and full-out on the other. Nice body shape on the Ultra but not a fan of the colour.
I like how schecter took the Peavey explorer design. My Peavey explorer was great. I loved it until I had to change the strings. I had the floyd version. It was my first floyd guitar, so i got frustrated very quickly and wound up selling it. I wish i wouldn't have. It was a great guitar.
Lol I got an Ibanez with Floyd-type bridge (also my first one) and I'm just waiting for the day I force myself to change the strings because even the previous owner didn't know when was the last time they have been changed.
Which guitar did you guys like best?

@@wandersongchicoryfan1748 they can but they may be a little over your price range so :/

The E-1 sls elite comes with a pair of modern fluences which makes it even siicker!

That Schecter E-1 rocks! amazing I love that catchy shape! Ultra sick as well. Great video I enjoy checking out these unique guitars!
Wow, the single coil mode turned into a SRV.. and funky

Dude you’ve gotta do the E1 apocalypse. It’s such a cool guitar.
pffff
Dude that Ultra is siiiiiiiiick. Should you ever decide to do a giveaway, I’d gladly take it off your hands lol. Good work DB.

Definitely reconsider, they’ve come a long way over the last few years and are really going for the throats of some of the other major brands!
Started w/Schecter. Sticking w/Schecter.
Can't beat the quality price ratio.. Never had one one but I would own one.
Awesome demo! I preferred the looks of the ultra but the sound of the ep1. For crunch. Both were nice with less gain. Great job!

I plan on upgrading to a Schecter bass when Im ready to graduate from my beginner bass. i love schecter 🤘
That E1 is fricken sick
Exceedingly helpful...buying today!
Man I dig that blue ultra. Wish it had locking tuners. Schecter has some great locking tuners, curious why they didn’t throw them on there.
The Ultra has been more of a retro guitar in their arsenal, perhaps it has something to do with that?
Perfect, I would only change the hardware, black in the Explorer and Chrome in the Firebird!
Love the schecter e1 take on the explorer. In fact I think Jackson has one almost identical. But I was lucky to grab the custom e1 trans purple when it came out and absolutely love that guitar
For an all around guitar, I would choose the blue one, and I would use the E type for cleans.
The E1 looks like a Washburn Culprit. Dimebags "other" signature model when he played Washburns. The shape is damn near identical. A really cool take on an Explorer.
Schecter E-1 love the explorer shape, sounded great!
The E1 is beautiful but I like dedicated volume knobs for each pickup- I like the ability to dial in all those shades in the middle position and flip between a clean o one pickup and full-out on the other. Nice body shape on the Ultra but not a fan of the colour.
Awesome bends on the Zeppelin riffs!
Hey Darrell, I was remembering the fatal flaw video, and I found something called tremsetter by hipshot, maybe that can beat the flaw
Bro, those guitars are GORGEOUS ngl
