This is the best video about Goree Island I have ever seen. I'm really surprised you were able to record the tour. It is such a gift for the many people who will never be able to make the trip. Thank you for this.
Thank you so very much Sly for this video. Just seeing this is so heart breaking 💔 What my ancestors went through. I cried through the video 😢 My dream is to visit Senegal and Ghana. Many African Americans want to visit Mother Africa. Well done Sly ❤
Very informative. Thank you! This makes you feel some kind of way as a black person even though you were not there. I saw some white people visiting this place I wonder how this makes them feel...
@@cheikhniang7247 Because I’ve visited those places and seen their reactions! Also why would they feel anything if it wasn’t their ancestors being captured.
And It Is not to say these people are done with their oppressive ways they are still till this day oppress our people in various ways that are subtle and not so brash but we are being oppressed more so than ever.
Thanks a lot, Sly, for the amazing video. I went to Gorée Island myself in April this year. But I didnt have the chance to spend 3-4 hours in the island like you. What was your experience with regard to the language? Since I learnt French at school I didn't find it particularly hard to communicate with people. But I realized that most people don't speak English in Dakar. You can see it in my own video about Gorée Island that everyone approached me in French: ua-cam.com/video/ATAsQZ-kTdI/v-deo.html
All foreigners charge more! Native to the island charge less to go in and out and have a monthly fee for all travel. Senegalese have a lower fees as well
@@guiguiregismercer5720 Thank you for the information. They charge the descendants of those taken away from Africa in chains the same amount as the descendants of those who took them away. Understood.
“Every morning they hear the cries of the kids, but they don’t care” wow. How can so call humans, be so demonic. Very sad
My heart skipped a nest 😭
I can't believe they didn't rescue them it's so heartless 💔 😢

Thank you so much for sharing for those of us who can't afford the travel. What an amazing guide.
312 years of slavery on Goree Island. So much history has to be a emotional experience. I definitely have to visit.

Do they charge a fee to tour Goree island?? If so, is the fee the same for everyone, or are non-senagalese charged more?

It was really bad l, for those who suffered to reverse it into what it is now, they just put it over here?
There are plenty videos on this topic but none as details as yours.👋

There’s some lies surrounding Goree island. But hey, tourism dollars!!
