- We are cranking away on Slough Creek, making good progress every day. So for this week’s devblog, I thought it might be interesting to look at the build notes from a private beta build earlier this week, which had a variety of improvements and refinements to gameplay, animal AI, and the 3D world. Some represent slow, steady progress on our feature list and some are revisions based on feedback from our private beta testers, who have been playing the game intensively for several weeks now. So here’s a peek at what Tommi, Andrei, and I were up to this week. (Mikko is enjoying a well-deserved vacation but will be back next week to tackle some multiplayer improvements before diving back into the multiplayer component of Slough Creek. George has been busy on a secret new feature, and Susan been keeping busy with social media, office tasks, and animal behavior research.)

WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition is available now for PC/Mac on Steam and itch.io, as Early Access. The game currently includes Episode 1: Amethyst Mountain, Lost River: Classic, and multiplayer mode in both maps. Slough Creek is in development! The mobile version will come after the game (including Slough Creek) is completed on PC/Mac platforms. The next episode, Tower Fall (DLC) will follow. We do not announce specific release dates. We will release them when they are ready!

The fact that "pups cannot die when parent *is in the den* " isn't redacted for spoilers, but other stuff *is,* is just super exciting. Am I the only one that noticed that?

Have you guys not been keeping up with all the videos..? It’s been mentioned many many times that you’ll be able to go into the dens. They have videos showing the process etc.

I'm not here to be first, I'm not here to write jokes, I'm here to appreciate the team's hard work. They put SO much effort into this. It's not easy to program. I always get so confused during these types of videos, but I'll still watch 😂 I will wait as long it will take for this to release. After a few years, so much progress has been made. I am always waiting each Thursday for an update. Take your time! Outstanding job WQ team!

I've been playing this game for longer than I thought, and I'm so excited to see where it's going and the progress that's being made
Honestly I started watching these updates for the game but I kinda stayed for you. These videos are really calming to watch, I’ll kinda be disappointed when they stop but I’ll be glad when the game is out! It’ll be a bitter sweet thing definitely. Thank you for always keeping us updated and explaining everything to us so kindly, it’s really refreshing and nice to understand how making a game like wolf quest goes. Especially knowing the people working on it are such nice people!

So some questions.
1. In the last wolf quest pups kept whining when being picked up for a certain amount of time then when tried being carried again they would whine and be put down. Will that be change?
2. Will there be more coats, markings, and scars/injuries?
3. Will there be like rare coats for your pups that you have to do certain things to earn?
And lastly. Wolf quest normally ends when you reached a destination with your pups and you don’t get to see your pups grow up and be a actual pack, will there be a chance to see your pups grow and be able to be a actual pack and hunt and do all that? If so I have some suggestions.
For your last question I believe they are making a DLC called towerfall which follows the lines of that. :)
For the third question, I asked a few weeks ago if the albino/white pup would be in the game and they didn't think it would be added. BUT they did say that there would be over 30 different coat variants the pups could inherit which will be really cool :3

I have an idea,many you should add forest fires to the game and when the fire reaches the den the wolves would run away and the pups would follow,the. The player would need to find a new den.

Or they could come back after awhile if they really like the den
I would love forest fires, but maybe not moving dens. Maybe there could be small fires that the player and mate wolf needs to avoid, but the den and pups will be safe. That reminds me of the game Shelter, both the first and second one.

every little update always excites me that the game is still being worked on! the thing I love about this game is that when you guys come up or are developing a new feature, mechanic, ect., you always talk about it and post it! So we're practically in this ride of the development of wolf quest while we wait until the update's finally released, instead of not getting ANY or barely any news about the development of the game. and honestly, you guys work on this game quicker than any other game I'm interested in!
Of course, I love you guys' work! You guys are doing an amazing job and I cannot wait until the update is released, but of course, we have to be patient because good things come to the ones who wait. Take your time, team.
Hey! Thanks for this amazing video and hard work! Seeing all the beta-testing patches you read in this video, something came to my mind and I want to leave a little feedback about it now, if you mind reading :)
When a pup dies, it will clearly block the puppies, your mate, and everyone else including you because of the collision it has; Especially if it dies near the den's entrance, it will get really annoying. I have two solutions for that in mind!
1. Pup carcass doesn't have a "collision box".
The easiest solution is to disable collision for the pup carcasses. It has good points but also bad ones; It will prevent numerous bugs (and consequently speeding up development) and the body will no longer block the animals and den, but it isn't the most realistic choice.
2. Pup carcasses are carryable
Just like dead hare, your dead puppies can be carried. As a very realistic solution, it will also prevent it from blocking the entrance of the den. And it not only is a realistic *solution*, but a great improvement for the realism on the game. After all, a dead puppy decomposing will attract multiple scavenger and starving competitors, and the parents would probably take the body away from their live puppies. Now it's up to you to choose any of these solutions!
Seeing this game’s progress makes me so happy!! I was almost worried about the game releasing ‘too soon’ so I wouldn’t be able to watch new updates, but then I realized how cool and new the Tower Fall updates will be!! I can’t wait!! Good job!!

Hello! It's such a nice surprise to see that the game I've been playing since I was 10 years old is still going strong! I've been waiting so patiently and will continue to do so. Even if the game comes out by the time I'm 40 you bet I'll play it!

(Edited part) Here's a great idea for tower fall even though its pretty far away but... here it is...fighting pack members for social dominance! When you win you are awarded 500 exp. but when you lose you lose 100 exp. and the more you lose it adds 100 exp. points taken away but you can earn back loss points by winning and the max loss points is 500.
one of the things i really like about this game (and whats going to come) is the AI, it feels like you're interacting with a real person they have personalities, they can go off and do their own thing its really fun cause you feel like you arent alone

Yeah pc is great! Tho you can find some for way less then that, especially with black Friday coming soon. If you want some good recommendations I have a few
Lucky for you WolfQuest isn’t a money-hungry company like many game producers out there, so you don’t have to spend very much money to get it. I guess the really only expensive thing about it would be getting a computer that can run it well if you don’t have one already.
if you have a computer, ought to grab it on Steam while it is still early access. a computer is soooo much better than a phone (not only game-wise, everything-wise. except maybe mobility.) and it would be a great investment. still your choice, but i made this choice and i don‘t regret it one bit.
@@rokukou I'm actually planning to buy a gaming laptop, so I won't have to play mobile games and the three games that my mother's laptop can handle for the rest of my life. Would you recommend any stats of a laptop that can handle high graphics? I'm not experienced so I wanna know what is needed to run a good game.

When I first star playing the game my years agi I found out that it was awesome and I started telling my friends about it and they started playing too. Now everyone is waiting patiently about the update because it's going to be amazing. I have no words to describe how amazing this game is. Obviously a classic favorite. Take your time to make it don't push yourselves to hard the result it's going to be amazing anyway.
It's coming together really well! Can't wait to see Slough Creek, then it is 100% the most realistic simulator game in my opinion. Great work!

Amazing this is coming along so well congrats to Rosco and their owner that's one lucky dog and one lucky person, I can't wait for the Slough creek episode to come out, but take your time to make something you can be proud of.
In the old game, holding pups will still not be safe

This is gonna be so fun and exciting! I won't let the pups die, until then, I'll watch the updates and work on hunting strategies, Hawk (Another one of my wolves, he has brown fur and yellow eyes, like a hawk) and Lily (Hawk's mate, she was from the Rosebud pack, she has white fur, a brown face, and yellow eyes) almost died from a bull elk, so hunting elk methods need improvements, until then, keep up the fantastic work! (The wolf pups are so cute!)

WolfQuest is looking great, I started to replay the entire game from the first WolfQuest game released, I totally forgot about how you couldn’t use shift to run and how slow you actually were. This game has come to far and I’m honestly in love with it.

You can probably make it so smaller animals like Coyotes and Foxes are able to crawl into the dens, grab a pup, and run away. Along with possibly make it so if the pups are in the den, animals like Cougars and Bears will claw at the entrance trying to reach the pups.

Is the cattle ranch going to be in Wolfquest 3 too?

Here’s a tiny idea: When a coyote is attempting to get the pups while your away, it could be trying to dig into it to make it a bit wider. (I don’t know much about their size.. but I hope this is an okay comment.)

It would be really cool if the den was interactive with the entire pack like if the den could help the pups regenerate health, you could drag an entire elk carcass in the den so when your out hunting the pups have a continuous food supply and when the meat is gone they can naw on the bones like wolves do
Yeah, it'd be more realistic and easier to have your pups to care for. I just finished taking care of my first litter of pups on mobile and I think it was pretty good! I spent a good six hours on that game.

I think you should make the wolf’s body look different for certain things, for example if you have a strong wolf they should be more lean and muscular, a faster one should be more aerodynamic, maybe having a slimmer body, stamina can just be a normal wolf, if they’re lazy they could be more plump, if they’re energetic they could look like the wolf will always be alert, etc etc

If wanting to keep the hunger and sleep bar the same of you did a notification that was like "pups born soon it gives players a chance to hunt and sleep like in 2.7 when you'd get close to a den a notification popped up
