Unfortunately I was misdiagnosed with this condition in 2021, when in the Army I was actually suffering from Major Depressive Disorder due to toxic leadership. My symptoms of depression lasted for years, and it wasn't until I went to Behavioral Health, wasn't given therapy, and was further abused by my therapists did I end up losing my career within a month. I got 100% P&T disability for "chonic adjustment disorder", but asking for help was literally the worst I ever did in my entire life. I suffer from severe PTSD and constant ideation now. Adjustment disorder is a bs diagnosis, and anyone who ever took the time to talk to me would understand why. I actually transitioned just fine into the civilian sector, despite starting out homeless, and everything I did was on my own with no support. Only thing holding me back now is the PTSD and the fact that I live so close to my abusers.
Adjustment disorder is super super common especially when service members first get out. Overtime this does develop into all of the other poisons of MH - Clay

WOW. This is everyone who served in the Army. I wish I knew this back in 1999 and 2005!
Great info! Thanks!
I was diagnosed with this in the late 90s and was never treated. It’s in my service record
I wonder how common chronic adjustment disorder is compared to PTSD or anxiety for VA claims?

Thank you for the great content. This not something you can claim secondary to Anxiety and depression right?
