  • A quick guide to what's in the box, how it goes together, and a fitting guide. Feel free to post suggestions, questions, or corrections!
Plumbing the cold air intake into the same room you're heating, will increase the efficiency and make sure any fumes are definitely kept out. I did say in the video, but ALWAYS fit a carbon monoxide alarm into any area you're heating with one of these.
The intake and exhaust pipes will be fitted properly when it's installed. They are clipped to the base for the fitting demo, and then transportation.

Installed same heater recently. Maxspeedingrod sell this as an improved kit. The only improvements were imo gloves, exhaust wrap, wiring loom wrapped, threaded section at bottom of the tank. but I still had to buy proper fuel line and spring clips. Like you, I would buy same spec but cheaper... Ideally I'd like included a proper fuel line and clips, exhaust wrap, Small tub of exhaust paste, two (rather than one) 3 inch hot air pipes. If the units were supplied good to go I think it would save waste, improve safety and save us having to buy additional stuff. Having said that, the heater chucks out a lot of heat. I just need to find a supply of heating oil that I can get in small amounts. It's almost half the price of diesel. I think there is a gap in the market for someone to supply a battery, power supply, trickle charger all in one kit. I too run mine off a power supply. I'm working on getting the battery side sorted.

Agreed. The kit I got my wife on the other video I did was much improved. I was disappointed with the fuel line and it was lucky I still had some solid pipe left over. When I ran this heater up, I had to angle the fuel hose to allow air bubbles to enter the solid hose and get pumped through. The threaded tank does save a lot of messing about though. The only worry about running these heaters off mains power only are if you get a power cut, as it needs to complete the cooling cycle to avoid melting internal parts. And yes, a kit supplied ready to fit would save people hassle of sourcing other parts 👍

These Chinese heaters are typically supplied with the worst possible jubilee clamps, definitely agree they should be replaced with better clamps. Great to see that Maxpeedingrods have received the standard China shippers memo that all items shipped to the West should be provided with a pair of gloves, regardless if there is any association for gloves with the product being sold. 🙂A couple tips, when permanently installing these outdoors, try to protect the components from UV light, so they don't degrade so rapidly. Also, when joining the rigid nylon tubing with the crap PVC tubing, try to push the nylon tightly against the item you're connecting it to, eliminating any gaps at the end of the rigid tubing helps reduce diesel contact with the PVC tubing and removes spaces for air bubbles to gather into a large bubble. power supply is best provided with a battery to allow proper cooling at shutdown in case of power outages. Best of luck on the install!

Great tips, cheers. I did consider butting the ends of the solid pipes together, but it caused a kink. So I've left 20mm or so to give it some flexibility. I'll keep an eye on it, and if it causes issues I'll do what you suggest. It's going to be placed in a large covered area, so the weather shouldn't be a problem. But I will keep an eye on the sun, as that's not something I'd considered 👍

Nice video, Not sure if the fuel tank should be put higher than the unit in case of floding just a thought. Think I will buy an all in one unit to save the faff lol

This was only screwed to my workshop door to give an idea of where stuff goes. And yes, it'll all need to be up high, or easily moved for those spring tides!

@flybobbie1449 yes, you can't hold you hand in front of thebair outlet once it's warmed up!

This was purchased for my Dad for the same reason. In the winter gas bottles were a ridiculous cost, and not always available for delivery at the right time.

I’ve just installed this in my shed and it’s a great job however I chose this model for the smart option it states unfortunately it’s a load of horse shit the app keeps disconnecting from the unit and the control panel has no way to set the time on the clock lets you set the timer for on/off so unable to use that option so in my opinion it would have been better to just buy a cheaper unit

I have to agree to some extent. This one was cheaper than the one I fitted to the wife's office, and it shows. The green hose is the biggest give away, as are the poor clips and fittings. The wife's has the app, and I tried it once and gave up! Apart from the better pump, a cheaper one may be a better bet?

Well just fitted a 5kw at work. It is noisy. I have 2kw in my Berlingo camper, it's much quieter.

What's noisy? The pump or the fan? On the wife's office I suspended it on cable ties with it wrapped in foam, and it's absolutely silent inside. My previous video shows that.

@@MrDesmonick The fan. It's sounds like the blowers we had on the furnaces at work. The van heater is much quieter, smaller unit. I bought the 5-8kw as it was a good price at £80. I tried using it at home but noisy. So fitted at work.

Is it rubbing, or just noisy 'air' wise? I guess the wife's only runs on low so it's airflow is quiet? They are a bloody good heater though, especially with the low running costs. Your van must be toasty!

@@MrDesmonick Yes 10 minutes is enough in the van. I am bit disappointed with the noise on the bigger heater, sounds like wind rush noise, like hoover, not mechanical.
We had at work 3 foot fans blowing into furnace, heater sounds the same.

Maybe 30-35cm? It holds 10 litres if that helps?
