Such a fun tag 😊 I like the simple shapes too. I think you can use bookmarks on digital books kind of like tabs, to mark a clue or quote or something you’d like to get back to. Or if you want to go back to check something, it would be useful to mark where you’re at!
Fun fact: I own a lot of bookmarks but very rarely use one. Also, I used to love Borders except for one extremely annoying thing about their stores here in the Twin Cities: they used to play music in the book departments at a volume similar to a rave ... and then the music areas would be utterly silent.
I think my favorite bookmarks are those from indie bookstores I've never visited but that I've found in used books, often from faraway places. It's a nice thought that some of the books on my shelves are well traveled. 😊
I love using and saving bookmarks especially from independent bookstores. When I travel I always buy postcards that I will use as bookmarks and also a nice reminder of my trip.
The bookmarks from Debs are fabulous. I love that she includes things she's made in packages -- I have a few bits from her too, they always make me smile! Lovely tag, and a lovely collection of bookmarks you've got there, Pat! Really enjoyed the showcase of some of your favourites 😊
Thanks, Alex. Debs is such a treasure, isn't she? I never thought I really collected bookmarks, but I really do have quite a few. Hope you are doing well, my friend.
@@BookChatWithPat8668 Lol, I think bookmarks are one of those things that whilst one might not intentionally 'collect', they're so easy to pick up here, there and everywhere that you end up with an inadvertent collection! I'm good thanks, Pat, hope you are too! 😊
I have a sweet collection too. Holy cards, bookmarks from when my sister taught high school-every year students would meet in a park and take turns reading a book aloud all day long-it was called Mayfair Reads…I have quite a collection of them. And, of course, from the bookstore I sort of ran for The Friends of the Library in Arizona. Many of my bookmarks have a lot of personality🥰. As meaningful to me as many of my books. Fun tag.
Pat, I loved hearing about your diverse and meaningful collection of bookmarks-it’s such a reflection of your thoughtful personality! Using cards, prayer notes, and gift tags as bookmarks adds such a personal touch, making every read a little more special. Your story about the bookmarks from Ireland resonated with me-I hope you get to treat yourself to some memorable ones on your next trip. As for magnetic bookmarks, they seem handy, but I completely get how they might not appeal to everyone. Sometimes, there’s just something unbeatable about the simplicity of a classic bookmark or a sentimental keepsake!
@@DrCrankyPantsReads thank you for this lovely comment! I do like simple cardboard bookmarks most of all, but I wouldn’t mind having one or two magnetic ones too. 😊
Alright, Pat, a bookmark from The Nation. I'm on to you! 😉 Edited to add that I was waiting for the question, "Do you turn down the corners of pages to serve as bookmarks," and that would be a hard NEVER.
You have some lovely bookmarks. I have only recently started collecting them, and I have been known to match my bookmark to my book, if possible. A step too far?! I enjoy it 😊
I too match my book mark to the book when possible. The Learned Owl bookstore mark to a nonfiction book that’s a new or little known topic. A crocheted cross to a book about Jesus. A birthday card with garden tools and flowers to a gardening book or book with a gardener. The Gramercy Book Store mark to a book by a British author. Etc.
I have acquired many interesting bookmarks found in used books. Everything from bookstore advertisement and family photos, to old playing cards and letters.
I love the holy cards the best. What a great idea to use cards as bookmarks. I have an abundance of bookmarks myself. I enjoyed watching this. Take care.
Oh I love this tag! Not sure how I missed you posting this but I love it! I am the same way with the Christmas gift tags! I use full Christmas cards sometimes too! Looking forward to doing this tag. Also, it was neat to see Borders mentioned. I miss those and Waldenbooks.
I have a pile of bookmarks in my desk, but funnily enough I almost never use them. I just dog-ear the page instead (unless it’s a really nice book). Sorry if that offends 😅 Thanks for brightening my day, Pat.
I use a lot of conventional bookmarks biped I also use shopping lists, daily ‘to do” lists, forms that fall from magazines, pencils, sticky notes, clean paper leftovers from my grandkids crafts, flaps from the book covers, index cards……..well, just about any clean, thin paper! My favorite bookmark is one a colleague of mine embroidered when I retired. She stitched a bookshelf inciding the names of the ten of us who worked together at the library. I don’t use that one at all. It’s on display in my home “library”. Fun tag!
Great video! I like to use the divider pages in old my yearly planners and rotary cut them into bookmarks. I love the sturdy paper with floral and geometric designs. Greeting cards and notebook covers work well too. I would like to try the magnetic bookmarks someday. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for the tag - what a fun one! I confess that I'm the type of person who uses whatever I can find as a bookmark, but I am trying to mend my ways!
My favorite are the subscription cards that fall out of magazines! They are a handy size, they are super thin, and they are free! Since i have a lot of books that are partially read for one reson or another, i do have to obtain new cards every once in a while.
What great bookmarks from Debs! Thanks for tagging me 🎉 I can really "sink my teeth" into this one ☺ (You should do a "Bookmark Video," Pat!) 📚 P.S.: Thanks again, my friend, for all the gifts you sent me, from Ireland etc ☘ 😊🇮🇪
@@anotherbibliophilereads you have a beautiful collection. The only reason I didn’t tag you is that I remembered that you just recently did a video on your incredible collection.
Oh, I also have over 100, even including from book sellers and religious bookmarks, as you do. One time I purchased some books at a large 2 day book sale, and the funniest thing was there happened to be a dollar bill in one book. I guess you could call that an unusual bookmark! Nice episode.
I would add the question: where do you keep those 100+ bookmarks? I tend to use the same bookmark over and over - I don't have many. Plus I read a lot of e-books. But don't ask me about how to bookmark them - I don't know either! 😉
@@Nina_DP no, I don’t have a clue about how to bookmark ebooks or audiobooks. And I definitely reuse the same bookmarks frequently also. I’ve got them all in a basket in my living room. 😊
