I love marks, but a lot of the time I just use whatever piece of clean paper is close enough to grab, including my old fashion hand written grocery list

I know some people use the paint sample cards from the hardware store or home improvement section, which means they can always coordinate with the cover.
I like the idea, but I hope people make at least a small purchase, too.
I like to color for relaxation and I intend to laminate some of the images as bookmarks.

I bought the grandkids a little pack of blank bookmarks so they can give me art they know I will use. The bookmarks have become a tiny gallery of evolving interests and talent.

My favorite bookmark for decades has been that irritating little card that drops out of magazines. They are just the right size and are so thin so as not to hold the book just ajar. I dont purchase nearly as many mags now that i am retired, but i still have a pile of bookmarks! Second common for me is the card put in with a purchased book from a local bookshop. It has the shop's name and contact info and i have a pile of those also. I have been known to puchase ready-made bookmarks at the register in shops, but only if they really are special... one says "go away, i'm reading". Unusual bookmarks i have used would be cash register receipts, a piece of junk mail, or even the paper cover over a disposable drinking straw... i eat out frequently, and i always use that time reading a book (or a Kindle if the lighting isnt bright enough). There are a lot of books in my library that i havent finished for whatever reason.... if i pick one of those back up years later, sometimes i can be amused by what the old bookmark turns out to be! I used to include one of the free bookmarks on the 1st page if i loaned a book out, to hopefully prevent any dog ears, but i have lost too many books thru loaning out, so have stopped that.

Great job, Bob. I, too, have been known to use a holy card from time to time as a bookmark.

Hahaha, yeah, they work well as bookmarks, maybe even lending an air of sacredness to the act of reading.

I only have one bookmark that I've kept bc it was part of a special deal with preordering a book a decade back and use it for a lot of the physical books I read since it was a good design and has endured all that time. But I've also taken some of the apple gift card stickers that was happening a few years back and used them as bookmarks since they had cool designs and I didn't have anyplace to stick them at the time - works the same and are more hardy than one would expect.

Hello and thanks for the video. I often use a simple business card. Sometimes it is someone you know/family member or whatever card you have available. For me it's small, yet big enough to hold the place. I use either the blank side or the printed side up. Anyway... another idea!

I've a generous collection of over twenty or so. Love the William Morris like designs. Waterstones - our popular book chain store on this side of the pond - no longer have their own brand however they sell those fancy gimmick ones - string, electronic, etc. Yuk.
Slightly off topic, I buy antiquarian styled bookplates so I can send to writers to sign. Works a treat.
    Good answers, Robert 😊

I think a holy card as a bookmark is ok, they are meant to remind you of the Saint and to pray the prayer so if it has ever prompted you to think on the saint or look over the prayer I think a holy card as a bookmark is fine and perhaps even a great use for it. However this is coming from someone who isn't religious anymore so take my word with a grain of salt.

Love the vid.... your presence is awesome; straight forward and yet comfortable. Bookmarks can inconspicuously enter into a reader's routine of reading, but the Holy Card.... how interesting! You and i both share the same opinion about "dog ear-ing" pages. Glad you participated in the tag.

Nothing wrong with using holy cards as bookmarks, I use them in my Bible and Missal.

Really cool background Bob, especially with the natural light. Plus you have many cool older books that are just aesthetically pleasing. Oh and i also enjoyed your tag answers 😂 glad you found this one fun! Bob - are you from up in northern Illinois? I am central Illinois. Oh and i really enjoy the Beat Poets you mentioned! Learned about them in my early 20s. Need to get back to them soon.
