    My 2005 Sienna just had the ignition coil #4 replaced after noticing engine idled rough and losing power when accelerating. The car has been reliable over 17 years and 318K miles. This has been the most serious issue. Previously serious issues were 1 starter and 1 alternator.

    We are the original owners of out 2006 Toyota Sienna LE FWD with 193k miles. Common problems so far is power sliding doors, wheel bearings, lower control arms, and leaking valve cover gasket. I have a 2004 Toyota sienna with 198,000 miles on it. For the last four years I’ve had an engine check light and VSC check light on the mechanics at the dealership have replaced two oxygen sensors and a catalytic converter and still have not fixed the poor gas mileage and engine check lights! About a month ago I cleaned my mass airflow sensor and disconnected the battery to reset the codes. Before I did this my van was averaging about 13 miles per gallon afterword I was getting 23 miles per gallon. But now the lights have come back on and I’m down to getting 13 miles per gallon again!

    Just had the rad 3:12 replaced in summer of 2023 for some reason my 07 Toyota sienna van blew off the rad filler neck wasn't sure what caused this issue but may have been low antifreeze or air bubbles. Only 117,000 miles still lots of power mechanic said will need new belt tensioner as getting noisy and new gator serpentine belt
    New plug wires as for some reason they move and then cause the engine light and Trac light to come on.

    Waaa? Sounds like there are no problems. I have 2000 Sienna. I owned it since 135k. replaced O2 sensors soon, ignition coil, steering rack (at about 190k), windows regulators, front struts with sway bars and links, rear shock absorbers, radiator (at about 180k it will blow on any car), 100k service (water pump, timing belt), pulled out power door motor (stuck, replacement is too costly). I don't count brake drums with brake shoes replacement (once in 10 years) and I just put on second ceramic brake pads. Recently replaced alternator and 3rd battery. Voltage started to drop down to 11.8 with all auxiliaries on (AC, front rear fans, headlights). No mechanic can/wants to find what causes voltage drop and as I mentioned before I got new alternator and battery ( went through 3 reman alternators).

    None of these issues on my 19 year old 06 Sienna low miles 95k only. However, OEM radiator was plastic and cracked leak. Driver door broke at hinge. Dashboard cracked like crazy. Both taken care replaced free of cost even after 10 years later by Toyota.

  • @Brave2standalone
    @Brave2standalone 3 місяці тому +1

    #6 - Thermostat 'plastic' housing that cracks along the "welded/glued" line and will leak antifreeze. If you are handy, you can do it yourself. But first buy yourself 5 small acrylic paint bottles of different colors at TARGET. Paint connectors and hose plugs in different colors because reconnecting them could be confusing. While there, replace those 2 plastic T-hose connectors with Aluminum ones - a salesman at any auto-parts store will know as soon as you tell him what you are doing. If you are not handy and you can afford it - let the qualified mechanic do it for you because it will be very frustrating at times!

      Good luck! We also have an 04 Sienna in the same mileage range, and we are among the many, many unlucky people who had the front door weld break. Have been quoted $3000 to replace the door. The problem is that the door check no longer works, so the door will swing wider than you set it for, which risks banging into and damaging someone else's vehicle. Toyota was finally forced (by the sheer number of complaints) to acknowledge the design failure and fix these, but we didn't get the notice or have the problem until after the recall had expired.

  • @mcconn746

    It is counterintuitive but dirty filters actually filter our more particles than clean ones. The problem with dirty filters is that at some point they create too much back pressure or break. In manufacturing plants, they sometimes have backpressure gauges to indicate when a filter is too stopped up. Meanwhile the filter is getting better and better at filtering.
    The logic.
    When a filter is new, they have holes so air can go through. They will catch particles larger than the holes. As particles partially fill some of the holes, they catch some of the smaller particles.
    Bottom line, dirty filters are not the cause of MAFs needing cleaning. Of course you do need to change the filter eventually or it will make the make the fuel air ratio too rich.

  • @Alex.R16
    @Alex.R16 5 місяців тому

    🙋‍♂️ ok so today I did some maintenance on a 05 sienna, and when I was replacing the air filter I thought it’d be a good idea to clean the MAF sensor. And of course being a klutz, I some how disconnected one of the 3 air lines that was going to the air filter cover where the MAF sensor is screwed on to, and I heard it release air like when disconnecting an air hose from a compressor (well maybe not THAT loud). I didn’t even clean the MAF sensor, and just out everything back. Turned on the vehicle and let it idle. After like 5 min the RPM dropped to around 500 but the vehicle didn’t stall. I shut it off and tried to turn it back on, nothing. Tried a second time, and now it just stays at 500.
    Any suggestions how to fix this blunder??

    Have you done a video on the motor mount type of PWM vacuum switch valve? I can’t seem to find any decent info on which of the three hoses go where. The switch has a port on top, that I think goes directly to air filter box. Then two ports in back. I think one of those ports is a vent and the other goes to what I believe is called the actuator. It connects to a second vacuum switching valve then the actuator. But I can’t find anything online that definitely tells me which of the two back ports on the PWM vacuum switching value is to vent and goes no where. Seems to be something I should get right on my 2008 Sienna!

    S 2005 sienna runs and starts fine but every now and then the shifter locks ,there's no power on the windows radio,horn but somehow it still runs not sure if its the computer or the brake switch took it to a few places but they couldn't find the problem?????? When it doesn't have that problem it runs beautifull

    Ok so I have an 09 sienna and I have as to replace ignition coil b 3 times in 2 year.. I’ve replaced the spark plug every time and put new wires on it the last time I did it. Here we are 6 months later and it’s giving me the same code. Anyone know why the same ignition coil keeps failing would be a huge help!!

      Check fuel injectors, spark plug wires, vacuum lines, and fuel delivery system. Most likely your fix will be spark plug wires or fuel injectors.

    I have a 2008 and my gas mileage is horrendous as of late. 220 miles per tank!! Ive changes the purge valve, the MAF sensor, the Charcoal canister and have done a crapload of other things as well. Air filter was done today, wasnt that bad. I dont have a clue what to do next. What the heck is going on that my gas mileage is so terrible? Anyone have a clue about this? thanks.

    I got a problem with my 2004 Sienna, maybe someone can help me? Ignition key out - rad fans start working. (Not all the time, it may happens once a day or once a week) They may start any time when car locked and alarmed. Key in, ignition ON - all good. The same thing with day light. May turn ON any time when not in use. Drain battery to zero. I disconnected day light. And disconnect fans plug all the time when not driving. This happens mostly in rain season when wet. Never in dry summer. Any idea? Thanks
