I have enjoyed watching your family carve out a life in South Central Alaska, I have lived in Northern Alaska for 51 years and have had several very similar experiences carving out a farm and a home. There really is no other place like Alaska. I pray your family stays safe and healthy and look forward to watching your homestead progress. Best to you all, Dave in North Pole
Dave, your support means so much! Thank you... I bet you have some amazing stories about what you have accomplished in the last 51 years! Would be neat to hear about your favorite accomplishments! Alaska always puts a "tougher spin" on things as you know!! Ha! Feel free to share with us some of your experiences when you have time
Ha! You are right. They just come with the territory. I always say "we share space" I use lavender essential oil and that seems to help plus it smells amazing...!
Oh I know...hilarious. They are so the opposite if a camera isn't on them. We love poking fun of each other. It's what helps us get through the hard times here.! Sounds horrible but it's true...! At least we all get along. Our cabbage in the greenhouse is getting out of control! I think it will shade out my beets soon. Whew! Fish emulsion is a great thing we have added on top of our banana juice
Well we are trying James!! It's hard work but at least we are not living in a trailer any more! ...Ha. A cabin with a nice wood stove during winter is waaayyyy better than an RV! Hope your garden is doing good. I remember you have quite the variety going on!...
Well along with all that land DOES come land clearing requirements because it's Alaska Agriculture land. We have to clear 16.5 acres in 2 years. That's a big feat on a low budget income! So a bit of stress there...but like everything "we will find a way"....!😊
Thank you Debbie! Yesterday we fertilized our greenhouse garden with fish emulsion. Whew! Sure smells however it is really helping our veggies get huge! The cabbage is getting big. I just hope they finish nice and I get to make a bunch of saurkraut from it! I will have another video soon on our garden update too. Thank you for watching!!!😊
Great job. 🎉🎉🎉🎉. What a journey can't imagine how cold the trailer was. I remember one winter when I was in high school it never got above -35 temp and we had to unfreeze the pipes every morning before school. Don't like that part either. Cold and dark winters too in MN
I remember my toes could never warm up. Even with wool socks the floor was cold. We put hay bails around the trailer and ran a red chicken light underneath when the generator was on. I will not lie, it was awful. However on the plus side we loved the state so much it made some of the "cold pain" better!.. The excitement of finally being in Alaska was our motivation
Absolutely. They just grow so fast!!! Well we all love Alaska so much nobody ever wants to leave this state! Guess it's a good fit for our family 😊 For now anyways, as I get older the winter does get harder... even in the summer I miss wearing shorts! Lol
Thank you! I would love to sell heirloom tomatoes, lettuce, beets, and potatoes at the market. Lily and I are actually going to hopefully do the market next Friday! We are selling our lettuce, soaps, salves and baked goods if it all works out. Good to expose the kids to business and meeting our wonderful community! 😊
If I don’t hear from you you and your family have great weekend and a happy Fourth of July celebration ours is July 1st we always celebrate with fireworks
Ha. Probably not. I do admit the winter is very hard here. Possibly winter down there sounds nice once in a while? We always say up here " the cold gets old" it's so true... !
Hello there! I try to use lavender essential oil and natural remedies to keep them away. I think honestly after a while you just get used to them as well... Usually as the temp starts dipping they go away...which is probably soon. Thanks for watching!
Ha! Yes good idea. It's just dark in our cabin with the lighting so our faces won't show well... but of course that would be preferred! So ready for those little guys to go away.

Looks like a wonderful family but all I can see from all Alaska homesteader videos is everyone trying to keep the bugs away 😂. I wish you well!

That was an awesome video. Thanks for sharing your journey. The kids were funny at how quiet they got...lol 😊

I can't believe how much your children have grown. To see it in this video is amazing 👏 ❤❤🫶
Thank you, growing like weeds!!
no questions, just jealous of how much land you have!

Yes. It is much harder work than city living but so much more freedoms...!

How are you doing with school?
Doing great. We try to teach lots of

If I don’t hear from you you and your family have great weekend and a happy Fourth of July celebration ours is July 1st we always celebrate with fireworks

Do you think any of your children will go back down to the lower class 48?
Ha. Probably not. I do admit the winter is very hard here. Possibly winter down there sounds nice once in a while? We always say up here " the cold gets old" it's so true... !
Im in the lower forties in the South. Do you worry about bears? I have a phobia of bears dont know why.
Reasonable phobia! They are quiet and very fast! Scary combo. Yes we worry about bears. True concern through the summer.
@@Alaskan6pack I'm sure you have protection and take precautions. I just discovered your videos. Will definitely be following.
Yeah! Thank you!!
The music over powers your voice.
Sorry about that, will be aware of that next time. Thank you
What do you it about the mosquitoes biting you guys everywhere😂

Yes they are an amazing fun couple...!
I like them because they are " real" people that seem very genuine
Do you know a person called Chrystal Carlson she lives in Willow Alaska
Is that the nice gal from Flat Tire Farm?
If it is, she is amazing! I just met her briefly at the farmers market the other day😊
Yes it is those two people are amazing maybe in a couple of years I am going to visit Alaska and meet up with them at a festival she is amazing lady
Remember me I am from Ontario Canada me and Chrystal talk all the time
I completely agree. They are prescious
Of course I do Mike! How have you been? Finally the snow is gone and we are enjoying summer here!!!😊
Do your talking videos inside so you don't get eaten up with misquotes
