    Jeff those leaves you cut off you can plant and many will germinate and produce tomatoes. Won't work late in the season as growing season wont be long enough but for the first week or so

    Always hardware from Georgia always heard to put Epsom salt on the outside of the circle that you going to put your tomato in and it boosted them up

      Yes! We are sprinkling them around our tomatoes. That is another thing I never knew was nutritious to plants!
      I was in the medical field for 20 years so I am a huge newbie to this...but I am trying and love learning 🍅🍅

    Making progress every week! How much land do you eventually plan to clear? Do you plan on getting feeder pigs again? Great pasture area.

    • @Alaskan6pack
      @Alaskan6pack  6 місяців тому

      Thank you! Probably 10 to 16 acres cleared. No more pigs this year, just more structures for us built first....
      Wood shed a must. I don't want to do the frozen tarp under 2 ft of snow again! Lol.

    For a little over 6 years I did firewood for room and board every time I watch somebody doing firewood I just really enjoy it thank you thank. Is this the kind of birch that you can make lumber with, I'm just asking, I don't know.

    • @Alaskan6pack
      @Alaskan6pack  5 місяців тому

      Thank you. Yes with some of the straight birch logs they are the milling logs.
      6 years is a long time to do firewood..
      It's a lot of work!!

    Do you guys have plans for the area that you cleared the trees from? I just learned from my dad about using the bananas, except he put the peels in a container with water & let them set for a time. I did the same.

      Greetings! So we are hoping to do a couple 30x90 greenhouses.
      Utilizing the hoop house program through the FSA. It will be lots of work but imagine the amount of food that could be grown. Also we like that in greenhouses it's a covered area and we have more control.
      We feel like the weather does strange things and the forecast seems to always change. In a greenhouse it doesn't really matter as much! Yes a viewer actually educated us on bananas! I never knew....Fun to learn new things!
      Lily actually made some "banana soup" she calls it. We will strain and feed to our plants today

      I literally don't think we could do all this without her. She is very focused and a natural leader...she is out planting 100 red onion starts today in the greenhouse so I can have time to clean up the cabin.
      It's nice having her help😊
      Plus the best part is learning gardening skills early on.
