Thank you so much for this information! I had code P0018 and P0019 on my 2007 Toyota Camry and could not find anything that got right to the point. Then I found your channel and this video. I followed your instructions step by step and it completely fixed my issues. Also saved me so much money and time doing it myself. Thank you once again!
Hi, thanks for your video. One question, I cleaned the vvt-i and I did the tests and the solenoid excited it with 12 volts and the same thing happens as in the video, that is, it is apparently fine. Then I found that when I made contact and measured at the terminal of the vvt-i valve I have 1.84 volts, is it normal that it has such a low voltage? my car is a corolla xei with simple vvt-i from the year 2008 1ze engine of 1.8 liter displacement.
Where can I purchase the red and white test wires that you have on your video? The wires with the alligator clips that you used to test the solenoid. Thank you for your videos they’re extremely helpful.
Pls can I engine flush my hyundai elantra 2013.. For some reason my engine is quite dirty and dirt keeps clogging the vvt solenoid.. Just changed my engine oil but theirs soo much dirt on the solenoid when it was removed.. I warchanother video here abt engine flush which suggested engine flushijg a modern engine is a bad idea.. Now I'm confused. Changing my engine oil isn't fixing my dirty engine.. I'm seriously confused as to how to get my engine clean so stop the clogging of my vvt solenoid.. HELP!!
hello I have this code P0014 with my hyundai accent which makes noises and consumes a lot of fuel. I tested the solenoid as you did it gave the same result but I just noticed that there was a kind of mesh in the middle which was pierced, I want to know if this anomaly can allow the solenoid to not not work well.
Will cleaning work if my solenoids are clogged with sludge and metal shavings? or do I need to buy new ones? (I just had them replaced in October) Background: I have a 20x12 GMC Terrain with 165 that suffers from the well known high oil consumption issue (I've already had to get new timing/pistons, had a rear seal blow out from clogged pcv valve, and new exhaust system vvt from clogged cat) , most recently I had my vvt solenoids replaced in October when I took my car to mechanic for stalling when idling (mechanic noted that my original solenoids we're covered in metal shavings). Now it's stalling at idle again, so I'm guessing they are clogged with sludge and/or metal shavings, and aren't "bad" being just 3 months old. Cuz I really don't wanna shell out the money again to replace them, especially when I know my engine is probably going to go soon. Follow up question, knowing that my engine has metal shavings from degradation, should I use the engine flush you recommended? or could that possibly make it worse?
Thanks for the info I'm trying isopropyl and compressed air that I have on hand before buying the parts cleaners but do you have a link for the engine cleaner and oil?
You may need to clear you long term trim levels with a scanner. Disconnecting the battery will not reset trim levels. If you dont have a scanner try disconnecting the maf sensor and then start your vehicle and let it run about 20 seconds after you check engine light comes on. Then turn your car off and reconnect the maf sensor and restart it and the trim levels should reset. The check engine light should also go out.
Ive replaced 2 vvt on a hyundai elantra 2018. But even after it still reads vvt issue. And still dies occasionally. But i cant figure out what the issue is?!
Mine woulsnt move with a new dollar store 9v but i was able to get it to move hooking it up to the car battery to open and close it while cleaning. I dont know if a cheap 9v should work or if it was a sign but ill let you know if my code goes away.
I have a Ford 3.5l on an Explorer. Getting codes for all four VvT valves. Is it possible I have one bad VvT that’s causing all four codes? Doesn’t seem possible that all four VVT would go bad at the same time.
I replaced the Variable Timing Solenoid on my 2006 Honda Accord, but the engine shuts off when I plug it in. It runs fine when it's unplugged, and the old solenoid was causing the same issue. Please help
This is okay, I think it has a nice vvt now I used some lime sized seafoam run to the petrol as I tested on a mower when at the body the black soot removed the filter breaks down and it's the best perished I could to done , for leaks at times threads it's cause it's a plastic sensor rev s in wet weather there's nothing to dispel water a cleaner later
Thank you for your teachings. But there something that confusing me and it's a question. I want to ask, while testing the vvt solenoid, is it when it did not open and close that the solenoid is bad. Please you can explain more to me.
READ THIS! A cheap 9V might not be strong enough. I had to use the car battery to get it moving to clean it. Don't think it's broke if it doesn't move with the 9v it may need 12v.
What to do if code keeps coming back (p0014) replaced the exhaust twice (second was oem) and was about to buy another one but realized there was nothing wrong with BOTH of the aftermarket and oem one. What steps do you take? How do you neccesarily know if the wire is bad?
Decent video but not too the Honda CR-V 2.4L engine and what I asked. Changed oil and used the cleaner and ran 20 minutes. Then changed oil, a week later it started mmaking that sound but very loud so I was listening to engine, sounds like I need power steering pump on its way out but coming from engine, I took the oil gill cap off and I'm getting good preasure coming out like exhaust now and that's making a noise also and engine changes like it goes to stall out but catches itself as it does that like the timing advanced to keep running. Have plenty of preasure coming oit tail pipe, replaced both 02 Sensors with a new PVC VALVE TOO. I use 0W20 oil that's Fully Synthetic, anyone have any ideas what this can be, making appointment at garage hoping I have enough money to cover bill. Runs great and quiets down when driving it, doesn't make sense to me. Don't want to blow up engine. Have 147K I bought itv with 116K from a recently retired school teacher left 1 piece of paper with her name on it as owner, small dealer I bought from missed it too. So I looked her up and her Husband answered, I explained who I was taking a chance and he told me that he was retired and now his wife just retired, so they both traded in there vehicles for new, asked me if I mind how much I paid. He fell over since tires was a year old and battery just 2 years old, I took to dealer for oil changes at 1st until they scraped up my wheels on free tire rotation, wheels either fell over on Front face scratching them and I just washed the day before and took pictures like I do. I take pictures of almost everything for records even on gas fill-up so I can figure out mpg. I started changing own oil for less than half the cost. Need help if engine on its way out or what should I do next besides take to shop. Anyones idea's ?
Did you ever get it fixed? I have a 2010 g37 and my code was P0021 but I’m sure we had the same issue. Just wondering what you did to get it fixed. My car studders after going over 3k Rpms
I had to remove the wire pins from the vvt harness to clean them and I accidently reversed the wires and plug it back in. Will this fry the sensor?? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

One of the best channels! Great videos keep up the great work!
This is the reason I think you should always use an egine flush , such as Amsoil or Liqui-Moly . And for a heavy duty cleaning , BG EPR flush .
Awesome video, gonna try before digging into the chain arena
You guys are aces in my book. Thank you.
Where can I purchase the red and white test wires that you have on your video? The wires with the alligator clips that you used to test the solenoid. Thank you for your videos they’re extremely helpful.
Alligator clips, I just purchased in Harbor Freight. Any hardware store like Homedepot, Louis, Amazon, Walmart, Ace...
What if I use liqui molly engine flush with out taking off vvts solenoids does it works too for cleaning purposes ?
Pls can I engine flush my hyundai elantra 2013.. For some reason my engine is quite dirty and dirt keeps clogging the vvt solenoid.. Simple but effective video great job!
Thank you. Fixed my 2011 750Li xDrive.

Worked great, thanks for the tip. Screens were pretty dirty
You cleaned or you changed completely?
After cleaning did you scan again?

What did you find out? I’m having issues with me truck
Hi
How do i can check the connector of the camshaft position actuator, the connector between the ECM and the camshaft position actuator. Thank you
Thanks for the info I'm trying isopropyl and compressed air that I have on hand before buying the parts cleaners but do you have a link for the engine cleaner and oil?
Walmart or any auto store
Thankyou man very clear video ..
Is the a fuse or relay for solenoid?
Would this help for idle surging only at startup? No code and no issues driving.

I thought my transmission was slipping but thankfully it just needed the vvt
I thought it was my tranny shift solenoids!
But Voila it was this!
Sorry to bother you, but did you replace or just do a flush, I have very similar symptoms as you did.
@@friedpiper4658 I replaced both

Ive replaced 2 vvt on a hyundai elantra 2018. But even after it still reads vvt issue. And still dies occasionally. But i cant figure out what the issue is?!
You’re the man
Great video. Thank you so much my friend.
Mine woulsnt move with a new dollar store 9v but i was able to get it to move hooking it up to the car battery to open and close it while cleaning.
I dont know if a cheap 9v should work or if it was a sign but ill let you know if my code goes away.
Makes sense. Probably was so clogged with shit that it needed more current to open.
Can we use battery 9 volt to check selenoid in TCM?
Do you have a video on where this is placed on a mercedes w204 (c180)?

Did you found out what cause it.?
I replaced the Variable Timing Solenoid on my 2006 Honda Accord, but the engine shuts off when I plug it in. It runs fine when it's unplugged, and the old solenoid was causing the same issue. Please help

I have the p0024 code on my 07 infiniti g35x

Ricky bobbeeeee
What is problem if my car doesn't take high gears meanig all gears
👍👍
👏👏👏💯
This is merely a long advertisement. Nothing about how to remove and reinstall the solenoid.
I tried and nothing happened
Don’t try to be cool and go with extended oil change intervals. Costing more money, not saving
Why not just buy a new one? It’s not much easier?
бяло, зелено, червено на фона.
Why you wearing those gay pajamas
I had to remove the wire pins from the vvt harness to clean them and I accidently reversed the wires and plug it back in. Will this fry the sensor?? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Thanks
