Oh man that 'ya' or 'ja' was so spot on! I've been living near the Dutch German border area for two years and that musical 'ja' at the end of sentences always makes me smile.

Well, to be fair, only one living unicorn won't do much good. "Eat it!" was our reaction to finding a fully intact meat-preserved woolly mammoth in the arctic some years ago, so why not?

I read The Fault in Our Stars for the first time in October of 2013 and enjoyed it immensely. Good job, Nerdfighters, keeping Nerdfighteria spoiler-free.

You can get unicorn meat on Amazon. I make unicorn sammiches with it. It tastes like magic.

Loved the new book. My friend and I were about the same place in the book and we were trying to figure out where each other was and who was ahead without spoiling it. ANYWAY. My English teacher introduced me to your books and I loved them!! Now it is time for me to watch every video of yours possible.
I don't think the spoiler is in and of itself the problem, but I do think that a thing should be spoilable after a certain time. If you spoil a new [media] a couple days/weeks/months later, it's kind of a jerky move. A couple of years later? Definitely spoilable, unless you declare your imminent watching of said media into the almost spoiled conversation. I think that since it's been 77 years since Grapes of Wrath was released, the book jacket can be a little spoilery. If it's a good enough [media] that we should [consume] it anyways, spoilers should not be the obstacle that defeats our want of whatever experience that media offers.
There's this common misconception that van in a name (meaning of or from) is pronounced VAN. This is fine when talking about Americans but I think he was talking about a Dutch person here. Maybe he wasn't I don't know. But for future reference it's FUN.

i just finished looking for alaska, and apart from finding many foils of my own life in it, i found it to be one of, if not the single greatest, books i have ever read. you are a splendid author and there is no better book for a recent high school graduate to read. i have no other means of conveying this message to you, so i dearly hope you read this comment and know that it has made me simultaneously excited for college and sad to leave high school. it helped me reach a welcomed epiphany.
honestly, the way I see it is, there is so much media out there, and reading the spoilers is part of the information to sift through when analyzing a work. although spoilers may alter the way one perceives media, it may be part of the destiny of the observer to view a piece of media through spoiled eyes, and this is a unique path that those who experienced the media without spoilers will never trod... as Robert Frost would say, spoilers are The Path Less Traveled

Why on earth did you require an translator while being in Amsterdam? There isn't a single person in Amsterdam worth speaking to who doesn't speak basic English. Okay maybe that's an exaggeration, but its very close to the truth.

From my experience with foreign colleagues, it's mostly governments and companies sending letters that need translating. Especially if they use very specific words like "burgerservicenummer" or "aansluitingskosten".
I don't think I've ever loled as much from a vlogbrothers video than this one.
Thank you for not spoiling HP books, because I am not yet a potter head. In other words, I haven't read the books because memories of HP movies I had watched when I was about 5 or 7 still haunts my mind. Which are like spoilers
I was unsure about the Jacket/Shirt combo until I saw those cufflinks. Now, I am sold. Also, I think the powder blue suits your complexion, and the (afternoon?) sunlight in Amsterdam looks very welcoming.

I gotta say, I think Nerdfighteria is pretty conscientious about the whole spoiler thing. I've read 3 John Green novels and had no idea how they were going to end (TFIOS and Looking for Alaska were 2 of the 3). With such a big following, and Tumblr posts galore I find this rare... and awesome.

I just heard "Edward Spoonhands" for the first time a couple days ago. I wondered for hours why there was this tune stuck in my head, until I started hearing the lyrics again. I think John's right; it is under-appreciated.
Btw, I'm not sold on the grey suit w/ light blue shirt.
It's monochromatic, mono-tonal, becuz it's a very blue grey & it kinda washes you out. Or not washes you out but makes the blood in your face look bright pink. Not. Good.
If LB shirt is used then I suggest a dark suit, like navy. Not black. Navy. Black can also be blue & then it's very wrong.
Or with grey suit then darker toned shirt, blue is works here too.
Regarding the shirt question: it's a good combo, but we need to see how it fits. Fit is almost everything.
John, I am at eighty-seven days before in "Looking for Alaska" and I am thoroughly enjoying your writing and the story. Having only watched your youtube videos until now, it's neat to hear your voice in print. Seems I have a few more of your books to read. Keep up the good work!

Either the contrast on my computer gradually changed during this video, or John's face is gradually blushing during this video.
I tried translating that Dutch and google said "We do not know which of the Unicorn will eat it."

You know what's hard for me? When I'm sharing TFIOS with people, I generally get really excited about it, so it's very hard for me to not spoil any of it, because part of reading a new awesome book is discovering all of the best parts for yourself and not knowing about them in advance.
Today, in my English class I had to write an interpretation of the poem "Daybreak in Alabama" and instead of writing that, I kept accidently putting "Looking for Alaska"... *sigh* The trials of being a nerdfighter..

I saw WILL GRAYSON, WILL GRAYSON at Target for the first time the other day nestled in with some of my favorite book series. I wasn't looking for it and was pleasantly surprised when I noticed it. I then pointed it out to MY brother Hank, who grabbed it said something about he'd been meaning to read it and walked off. It was a good trip to Target.
you should make food and eat it, according to the ingredients marked on a package. EX: the ingredients on sugar cookies from the supermarket, take them and try to make them yourself just by what's on the label.
Gosh after my computer prematurely exploded i was unable to watch your vids. After obtaining a new youtube handling computer i have started watching all the ones i missed (quite a many because i was computerless for 4 months). but thank you for being awesome and giving me a boost through some quite difficult days.

John, I just read TFIOS and I am in love. I wanted to say thank you, THANK YOU for being such a great person and author. My wonderful boyfriend died from lung cancer ( wonderful seems too petty a word now, but I don't grieve because as you know, grief is for the living.) I was inspired to write a sequel( reference!!) about a girl with diabetes and wanted to know if it was ok with you. Please respond!! P.S. that girl with diabetes may or may not be me. This star won't go out!!

When I first subscribed to John's tumblr I didn't know what he was referencing. I just thought it was like "keep on trucking", "keep calm and carry on", and "the fishing boat proceeds."

Actually the Yeti never asked not to be named, just not shown on video. It's why she's called the Yeti, because she features prominately in Nerdfighter lore but seldomly successfully captured on camera. Her real name is Sarah.
