For some strange reason, whenever I quit WoW for an extended period of time, it's my memories in Westfall that bring me back. It's like a real place where I spent my childhood. Oh the feels...
Desperately seeking a rejuvenating escape from the 9 to 6 work grind and continuous self-improvement at home. Exhausted and longing for the carefree days of youth, spent playing wow and finding relaxation.
Started playing in fall 2005. Young impressionable me. Outside in the real world we had our autumn storms, colorful trees, cold nights, warmish days, pumpkins and barren fields. Then, arriving in Westfall which mirrored the real world, with this majestic music and gorgeous (still) graphics. Man, this game manages to deliver the same feelings it did almost 20 years ago.
1:02 When I started playing Classic WoW last summer, I finally got my first character across the bridge and entered Westfall. I heard this and my eyes teared up from all the memories of that place. The quests, the players, the Defias... I was so glad I decided to play again.
I like old Westfall. I've lived in the Midwest most of my life and I like the idea of a zone consisting mostly of farmland. Deadmines was one of my favorite early dungeons as well.
I am a 'city boy', but the more I get old I like the farmland idea as well. Blizzard made afterwards other zones like it, but this was the original one. I did not understand at that time what was the lore in Westfall, I though Defias are just some bandits, but again later, I've understood this is a 'morally grey' issue (like many others in WoW :) ) Salutation Jake!
I didn’t realize it until just now, but Westfall is probably partly based on the American Midwest during the dust bowl. I live in California and during the summer and early fall months parts of CA really resemble how Westfall looks, and I like to listen to this and walk around.
I love music from Westfal it brings memories of many joyful hours of leveling spent there. I miss this time so much. I wish legacy servers will be implemented soon. Then I plan to come back to WoW.
A long years ago, my first day in wow, I was alone. After a couple of hours in Elwyn Forest I decided to look what was a the end of the forest so I discovered Westfall and my real life ended in that moment. :)
Lucky you, I went south to some dark forest noticed a wolf (beasts are no match for mage) and nuked it with Fireball lev 2. That’s how I learned about mob levels, zones and corpse runs.
@@TheOmegaAlfa lol, I remember leveling my first character, a rogue in Elwynn, jumping over the water to take on a wolf and could just barely kill it. Elwynn to Westfall to Redridge. A small step for an adult gamer, but quite a journey for a kid back when Wrath of the Lich King was just released. God, I cherish those days.
Man westfall takes me back when I was a kid waking up and making a little breakfast and hoping on a toon that I created days earlier and finally coming here it felt like a reward
I think that's a good one, because it is played early for both factions (Westfall here for the Alliance and in Durotar for the Horde). It has also instruments which suggest one faction or another (e.g.: drums for the Horde).
Damn, I miss it. Regardless of where you are in life now. Free time or no, as a kid you felt like you had all the time in the world. WoW felt like stepping into Narnia. What you imagined gave the world magic, life. Then once you looked behind the curtain, learning how games were made etc. you saw the limitations. Call it a hallucination, but it doesn't stop the brief period you shared in that world with real people. All of us together, our collective dreaming created a world of beauty and wonder. Camaraderie.
This video is my favourite. It instantly takes me back to the summer of 2005, it's a masterpiece. I fear when I stop playing classic... I'll continue to come back and remind myself on how good it was.
All these years later it still blows my mind how the WoW developers managed to achieve so much with so little. The graphics was pretty basic even back then, but somehow the combination of great art, memorable sound design and beautiful music worked together to create a real sense of place and a living world.
Most epic. Most calm. This is best location in entire game. Back in the days i just came from school and was sleeping and listening this music. Its so restful music.
Any player, no matter the allegiance should like all these starting zones from the Classic WoW. These zones are the true essence of WoW. Every legendary player from nowadays was once low level and un-geared and had to deal with creatures like gnolls, kobolds, imps etc. :) Thank you for watching ❤
Westfall was my favorite zone. I started playing right near the end of Vanilla, so I consider myself a TBC baby but it was still Vanilla times when I hit here. I always missed the Defias quest line here and that was the only thing I did with classic servers. It was so nice to "re-live" it even if it was way more crowded than it was. I might have to go back for another Westfall playthrough now that the release is way over.
During Legion Pre launch I was at Westfall defending against the demon invasion on my orc shaman main, first time i fought side by side with alliance players, idk i just love westfall not just a questing zone but i feel nostalgic when i m there.
During the beta or stress test back in 2004 I played a human paladin and got him to level 19. The last thing I remember doing was going through Westfall and doing a Deadmines run with a large group of people. We got all the way to the giant ship in the secret cavernous harbor. We worked our way up the ship but never made it to the final boss up top, which I believe was VanCleef.
I remember on day 1 of playing I just started running at some point. Ended up in Westfall, but I had no idea how to get back to a place where I could comfortably level up, so I had to delete my character.
I had a similar experience on a Horde character. I saw some guys jumping off a cliff in the starting area of Durator so I decided to jump. I ended up in Ratchet.
Thank god Shadowlands went back to the ambient music. Ambient music allows you to write your own story in a zone rather than having the zone tell you what your story should be (Like Many BFA/WOD zones are super orchestral).

Thanks, unexpected and timely :D Nothing fits the upcoming autumn like good ol' Westfall. It's nice to have a taste of Classic in the middle of all this BFA hype. Although BFA looks good I still miss the slower pace, simpler times of Classic. Some dungeons really feel more like Dance Dance Revolution than WoW these days. The lore, too, is getting tired. I too expect some announcement at Blizzcon, maybe summer 2019 or something. Can even be later, I'm not in a hurry.

Ça rappelle le farm des sangliers pour les foies de brochetripe et le ragoût.
Only years later we realised we were the only monsters in Westfall
nah man I was just minding my own business running down the path and those harvesters hunted me down
@Meisio thank you for the reminder of Westfall
Thanks, unexpected and timely :D Nothing fits the upcoming autumn like good ol' Westfall. It's nice to have a taste of Classic in the middle of all this BFA hype. Although BFA looks good I still miss the slower pace, simpler times of Classic. Some dungeons really feel more like Dance Dance Revolution than WoW these days. The lore, too, is getting tired.
I too expect some announcement at Blizzcon, maybe summer 2019 or something. Can even be later, I'm not in a hurry.
An announcement at Blizzcon that they will launch it on the next summer will be sweet. I know a lot of people (who are not playing Retail) are waiting for it. :)
This comment couldn't be more spot on.
It was in Westfall that I discovered that you cannot drop items down if your inventory is full, like in Diablo II. What a disapointment that was. :)
YEAHHHH MEISIO IS DOING MY DAY, AWESOMEEEEE

Someone should duplicate Westfall in real life, make it a theme park.
