- Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Rae Carruth was released from Sampson Correctional Institution in Clinton, North Carolina. Carruth was sentenced to 18 to 24 years for conspiracy to commit murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Cherica Adams, in 2001.

I get what Alexander is saying. Yes 13% u are right as well. 2 wrongs dont make a right. Both are horrible crimes. But this woman had no choice. She didn't choice to smoke a joint or base. Nor chose to get shot while carrying a child. Most (not all ..... especially children) but most ppl chose to do drugs. This woman had a decision made for her to die and a innocent child was almosr killed in the process. Over child support? He was that greedy that he killed his family or child support? Now what does he have. A jacked up reputation, no money, amd probably a long road ahead of him seeing as ppl are still angry. But this woman was savagely murdered and left for dead with a baby strughling to breathe in her belly. This man still smiles as if nothing's happened. He should have received a harsher sentence. When it comes to potheads (not heroine or meth or crack and etc) but just weed dealers, they are being locked up for 20 plus years. Some eben on there first offense! OHIO!. They need to make a law to where a man can decide within 20 weeks wether he wants to be a legal father or not, that way a man would never murder under duress like that! One of the main arguments for the legalization of abortions is to prevent the mother from performing an abortion on herself risking death or permanent damage to both mother n child. So,to prevent another death or injury scenario, when a woman uses her pregnancy as a weapon or if a man like a woman , decides he's simply not ready to be a father, he can opt out freely!😌👍

This was a result of the jury not finding him guilty of first degree murder. Though I would think being found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder is bad enough to get a heavier term. He should, at minimum, be serving the same sentence that the hitman got, which was 50 years after he took a plea deal.

Nothing he's done (not said done) proves he's ready to finally be the human being he wasn't when he set up the murder for hire plot. It's been years since he was released Haven't heard of him doing anything to show he's ready to take over for the grandmother when she passes.
He couldn't even take real accountability in his letter and apologize and the few thousand dollars he gave at the end isn't even a drop in the ocean of the care his son needed and what he owed him.

Having said that, the prison industry isn't designed to rehab and get them back into society. But that's another story.

Now Carruth is released from prison and the first thing he says is he wants to gain full custody of the son he tried to kill. Why? A change of heart while in prison? Hardly! @ Kris Mars......These type of murder cases are really hard to think about. So many other persons get far more time in prison (for lesser offenses) than Carruth did. He is only 50 and can go ahead and marry and have children. Poor Cherica didn't get her chance at marrying or given the opportunity to raise her child. Her son is brain damaged and has cerebral palsy. Carruth orchestrated her murder (when she was 7 months pregnant) and he should have been given a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Cherica was given a life sentence and so was her son.
