Those sensors are what control the stiffness/softness of the car when you switch between Sport/race/rain etc. Replacing them with normal coil overs takes away your ability to use those features and will 100% have the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Not sure if it’ll throw it into limp mode or not but possibly. Also a lot of those steering racks are the same, the 458, 488, Pista have the same steering rack.
The Motion Sensor system for suspension monitoring and adjustments is not what was on the top of the coil-over and are completely different ., what is in the Coil-over is the Anti-theft Sensor For detecting when the car is being picked up!!!!
I know there is a work around for removal of that sensor. I’ve seen a few videos of guys changing out the suspension on Ferraris similar to this like the 458 and f8. It will throw the car into limp mode until you hook up a dummy sensor that fools the computer into thinking it’s still stock.
@@gamersplaygroundliquidm3th526 According to the part number (234671), that IS the connector for the adjustable electric shock absorbers, present on not just the 599 models, but also a couple of other Ferrari models. The original front shocks had active dampening I believe to stiffen or reduce the ride to suit your needs, the little connector at the top of the strut. The aftermarket coilovers don't have active dampening (hence the much cheaper price) I think you will find the dashboard will give a warning light for this.
Exactly. Was going to write the same. The manetino will not be able to change stiffness in the different modes, snow, sport, race and ct off. So it might be cheaper, but you are also taking away a key part of the 599s handling.
So basically you take the fancy Magne-ride suspension and delete it. People, THIS is why you don't buy rebuilt title cars. It's strange that your description disagrees with both the Ferrari Workshop Manual suspension and alarm systems chapters. "The NRRPS motion sensors read the movement of the chassis and wheel" (on the optional SCM (magnetorheological suspension control system)).
Some soldering and shrink tube is all it takes and some time to remove the intake system. I wouldn't go replacing a whole harness for two or three wires. Good vid though.
Ben, the original shocks are magnaride, electronically adjustable dampening. That is why they have plugs in them. I would also lookup torque values for those brake rotor bolts. carbon fiber is very sensitive to bolt torque and you can damage the carbon.

You may be able to bridge across the strut connector sensor with an appropriately sized resistor to fool the car into thinking the shocks are still adjustable, even though they are not. This will prevent a trouble code and light on the dash.
This build surprised me how great it came through. Anyone that welded Aluminium knows how hard it is. My advice is doing some driving tests, on a track if possible, to check how the welds handle, and if potential reinforcements are needed.
Regarding the grounding modification you did. You are counting on a friction fit of the insert vs welded. HOPEFULLY those never come loose as missing ground can cause all sorts of problems. Anyway, something to chew on.
