Thanks Brian, thanks Slim Jim, thanks Lee... Many of us outside the US knew about Ricky when we found this tune on the flip side of "Runaway Boys". Loved him since...
Wow! I was 3 years old seeing Ricky "Rick" Nelson on "Ozzie and Harriet". I thought he was so cute .I Remember just staring at the television ,Rick singing and then when Rick got done singing I was off playing again. When I got older my attention span was longer and I enjoyed watching entire show with my family!,😊😄
For the Jordanaires that’s the truth but James Burton just joined Elvis only from 1968 to 1977 and got a very special and other lead guitar sound then Elvis sideman on guitar, Scotty Moore. And Burton’s guitar play gave Ricky Nelson songs a recognizable and own brilliant style.
LYRICS🥀 wanna walk with ya, talk with ya, all about love 'Cause there's no greater time than tonight When I get you under the stars above Put your lips to mine with your kiss of fire, woah yeah Just to be with you baby tonight is my one desire I want a date with ya, would be great with ya baby tonight When I get you in my arms tonight Everything's gonna turn out right Put your lips to mine with your kiss of fire, woah yeah Just to be with you baby tonight is my one desire All the times I've wasted baby, be my steady date I wanna make up for lost time tonight and I just can't wait Put your lips to mine with your kiss of fire, woah yeah Just to be with you baby tonight is my one desire All the times I've wasted baby, be my steady date I wanna make up for lost time tonight and I just can't wait Put your lips to mine with your kiss of fire, woah yeah Just to be with you baby tonight is my one desire Just to be with you baby tonight is my one desire Just to be with you baby tonight is my one desire
Jimmy Page is maybe the biggest Ricky Nelson & James Burton fan ever. watch "it might get loud" & watch him sort thru a bunch of 45s. Zep used to cover "Hello Mary Lou" in concert. I love the stray cats version of this song.
Absolutely fucking timeless, legend's' in every sense of the word !! Popular music today is just about productivity corporate bullshit !! Just listen to James B on that guitar, a forgotten legend of "licks 'n' riffs", a creator guitar-playing hero. Fuck me timeless absolutely timeless... Today's computerised music is false bullshit !!!!
Another missed opportunity for a hit record. When Lew Chudd and Imperial Records were reissuing old records to compete with Rick’s Decca releases, should have released this.
I never understood all of the hype about James Burton. He was a good guitar player, but he came from a time when there were truly legendary guitar players and he was not one of them. He was good, but not legendary. Oh well, I guess if you don't play a guitar yourself, you may think he is actually better than he is.
You must remember, he was pretty young here. didn't have decades of experience at this time, but was quite refined for his age. By the 70s, he was considered to be among the best guitarists in the country. He was one of those people who do there job so good that they make it look easy. He was a genius at serving the song and the singer.
Dan Neff I could not agree more the first response to your jealous sounding comment. James Burton is a Master of playing “in” the song. He plays the most tasteful licks and solos that stick in your head long after the song finishes. In this video, from 1960, he was only 20-21 years old, and to be playing with this much refinement at that age is incredible.
Dan Neff I would like to know who you consider to be the “truly legendary guitar players.” I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but your comment sounds so petty and jealous.
Great song!! Ricky Nelson was severely underrated!!
Thanks Brian, thanks Slim Jim, thanks Lee... Many of us outside the US knew about Ricky when we found this tune on the flip side of "Runaway Boys". Loved him since...
I wish I had somebody look at me the way James Burton looks at Ricky
😆👍🏻
God bless you Ricky Nelson and. Thanks for your great music 🎵

James Burton and the Jordonaires as backup singers really gave Ricky that "Elvis" sound. Love it.

This is the Ricky Nelson and Bakersfield sound to me.
Merci pour ce partage en live
J'adore la voix de Ricky Nelson
C'est très agréable de l'écouter chanter
C'est un excellent chanteur et guitariste

Oh Ricky!❤
Supergreat !
Mi ídolo por siempre guapo Ricky Nelson l l love you
One of his best performances.
So many great artists in that era and Ricky was the handsomest I think lots of them got overshadowed by Elvis back then but I enjoy them now.

My favorite Rick Nelson song.
@Thegirlnextdoor42 Glad you enjoyed!
Where in the hell is Joe Osborn
Stray cats just listen to Mr Ricky Nelson sounds great
I have to laugh when i read comments people think the Stray Cats did this first.
garycooper1000 The Stray Cats cover is phenomenal though.
@@spectrelfc1152 agree❤❤
VERY FUNNY....
Ricky Nelson had a date and on this date he had three girls
Rather have Brian setzer❤❤
the backing vocals during the verse ruin it

James Burton not legendary? Ha! Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!
James Burton is ranked 19 in the world ...rolling stone
