As a fan of the Tigers, I feel more confident than I have in a long time. Plus, the division sucks.

Even last year gave me a new level of confidence in this team that I can’t quite put my finger on. It seems like they’re finally playing baseball with a purpose. A couple more solid moves and we have no excuse not to take the central.

I was on the Harris Train when he got here a year ago, and he came with a vision and a plan of execution. But this offseason looks alot like last year's! And while every other team in our division is cutting payroll and retooling; this is the Tigers opportunity to control it for the next 3 to 5 years. The ChiSox and Royals are bottom feeders and will be for the foreseeable future. The Guardians will inevitably trade Bieber, Ramirez and Clase, thus focusing on more player development which will take time. And the Twins are slashing payroll at an alarming rate, and their starting rotation from last year has been decimated. And the Twins almost never spend money. That leaves the Tigers! But mark my words, if Harris doesn't do more than what he did last year; the Tigers will find a way to underperform and either the Twins or Guardians will win the division again with a .500 record or worse. And I'll also say this: I'm not putting all my eggs in the farm system basket, and hoping that Keith, Jung and Malloy are the answers to our losing ways! Because hope is not a strategy! Go get Chapman and plug that hole at 3rd base! Trade for an ACE starting pitcher like Burns or Cease, or at least sign one of the Japanese guys! And bring in Josh Hader as a high leverage lefty for bullpen and go win the Division! No more excuses. It's ours for the taking!!! Go Tigers!!!

Well we have an Ace in skubal. Secondly who do u wanted him to sign or trade for? This offseason didn’t have a whole lot names people seemed to care about. This team won 78 games with Riley only playing 99 games. Tork starting slow but beating up from June onward and missing skubal for most of the season. I don’t think he’s essentially putting all his eggs in the basket of the young guys. What I believe his mindset is see what young guys do show themselves to be worthy and then add from there. I do expect this team to be above .500 and possibly win the division.

Also we don’t need a 2nd version in javy Baez in Matt Chapman. Dude has gotten worse year by year at the plate and last year go look at his numbers by the month. They are horrific. The guardians also aren’t trading Ramirez. He’s signed through the 2028 season and that deal was just done in 2022. Unless they receive a haul for Clase he’s not going anywhere either. Assuming they pick up both club options he will be a free agent in 2029 and he’s not getting paid a whole lot either. Bieber sure he’s a free agent at the end of the year but this is Cleveland they seemed to able to just produce pitching. The white Sox seem to be in free fall and the royals just suck. The twins and guardians are the only teams standing in our way and one of those teams is a lot like us. Win on our pitching and the offense isn’t the greatest. I do expect the division to come down between the twins and us. I do assume we finish 2nd again but more at like 84ish wins.

Besides Kenta Maeda, we also added Jack Flaherty, Andrew Chafin and now Shelly Miller, we need to establish some bats on offense, besides for Spencer, Torkelson, Kerry Carpenter, Jake Rogers and Javier Baez we need to add another big name bat, I know we just traded for Mark Canha from the Milwaukee Brewers but that’s not good enough for our team we need to establish some offense, we need to stop being subpar, the ownership needs to find a way to spend a little bit of money if they want to have production if we want to compete in the AL Central division, whether their ownership will do it, or not, will be determined most of the people say no but only time will tell. it’s disappointing that we can’t make the playoffs because our ownership doesn’t want to find a way to get big-time players here, it sucks because we have young players who are willing to stop off but that’s not gonna be enough to make it to a World Series anytime soon, it sucks, it sucks to be a long time Detroit Tigers fan being 31 years old and watching them, going to 2 World Series and both come up short and we just did not execute as planned. I wish that we could build a team like we did both times but the ownership is going to have to make moves that are going to impact our future build around Spencer, Torkelson, and Riley Greene, get Casey Mize healthy, keep some of the young core pitchers we have like Mize, Skubal, Manning,Faedo and bring some veteran leadership to teach those guys how to command the baseball better because if we do that we’re going to be in a better place. The bullpen needs to do a better job and the closer needs to close out games better but whether that will happen will be determined.

Luckily Harris wasn’t the guy who signed him. That was the second coming of Matt Millen, Al Avila.

Benetti is absolutely the biggest addition of the offseason, and will likely remain that way. The Tigers are a AAAA team “competing” in a woeful division. 78 wins is awful, and for some reason it’s a reason for celebration with this group….AJ gets an extension even though he was already signed through 2025….typical of an organization with no expectations whatsoever.
