I'm taking an accelerated chemistry course for nursing school----never had chemistry before in my life. This was EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you so much! I couldn't figure out how to make connections to remember the structures/names of these compounds and this video is the only video I could find that helps make those connections.
What a remarkable way to teach us such a profound chapter in a simpler way! Sometimes I think to myself and wonder why we never ha d teachers of your caliber back in our school days. You have comprehensive grasp of this subject. KUDOS!!!
I am a British doctor studying for my Anaesthetic (you say Anaesthesiology) exams and this has been such a great help. Fantastic video, thanks so much!
Thanks so much! This help me alot! And about how I memorize Ether, remember the grammar 'either,...or'? I make it eitheR OR --> R-O-R. And that's ether. Hope this'll help and thanks again for making this video! ^^
Ester sounds similarly to Easter, imagine the O as a person's head, the double bonds as the body, two bonds coming out of c as legs, and attached to them is a basket of eggs. Lol this made me smile. O II C = BODY , 2 BONDS FROM C ARE LEGS, AND BOND O BOND = A BASKET OF EGGS
How I remember ketones, esters and ethers. Ester always seems to have her hands full. But this time, Ester leaves the house and has free hands on "ether" side. But before she can get back into the house, Ester grabs her keys. (Keys are ketones). "Come ON!", she exclaims, the "ON" said at double volume, voicing her frustration. (Double volume means double bond). She associates her keys with being frustrated. Poor Ester.
Thank you so much for posting this, it's incredibly helpful! Functional groups are something I struggled with memorizing, and I feel way more confident now!
Wow, thank you so much, I'm not so nervous now. The evening before my exam and this will help me visualise what I need to know and recognise. Ester, to recognise the word ends in ...oates so I remember it by Oats for Easter (oates for ester). This can be added to Weqar's ideas too. I like David's trigger (see below).
This helps a lot! I’ll be trying to use lookalikes in the future to study. I’m going to apply the “key” from ketone to most of them. Like acid anhydride is just an O holding two keys? That’s brilliant 🤣
2:24 to 2:31 "I know it sounds silly but trust me these things work" Me: Proceeds to enter car after finishing a box of wine (or two) Just kidding😅😅. Thank you for this video BTW

Thanks for helping me ace my test! Great way to remember these groups!!
I'm so glad you liked it!
@@willowbellisle7328 thanks mam

I hope your a doctor now!
Ester reminds me of Easter. So then I correlate that with easter eggs and that reminds me that there are two oxygens in Ester. :)
Same i also did that😅
Nice trick but I’ll be honest they both sound like easter when spoken
Bro thanku I'll also remember like this , i literally get so confused in ether and ester but no more now 😅
that's actually a good one lol
😂😂@@Proxy77777
This is so awesome! You made me smile with the ketone and carboxylic acid examples! 😄
Thank you so much for your time.
Love from pakistan. 😍😍😍
Superb. Lot of videos on what are functional groups but few on how to remember them. I loved it.
Thanks so much! This help me alot! And about how I memorize Ether, remember the grammar 'either,...or'? I make it eitheR OR --> R-O-R. And that's ether. Hope this'll help and thanks again for making this video! ^^
Thanks for the extra tip!

Thank you so much! I wish there were more content. You’re really great at teaching chemistry.
Wow, this video makes memorising functional groups way too easy. Thanks.
Arene sounds kinda like "a ring", thats how i remember it.
Doing my university exams soon, glad I googled this! Thank you so much
I learned all of them in a pretty unusual way thanks to you !!
this is the most helpful video on this subject
This was so helpful! I have my final exam tomorrow and this is what I heard to really look over
I love making 'stories' to help memorise so this video helped me memorise it in less than 8 minutes because of speeding the video up! Thanks so much!
extremely useful tricks.. good job

Weqar Al Wahaibi that is nice
Wow what a cool way to remember that! Thanks!
I'm totally writing this on my notebook
Wow nice
Yup....it totally helped me...I'm gonna stick wid dis mnemonic
Exactly how I like to memorize! Thank you so much for sharing 💕
awesome mind of yours...creating such awesome links
useful mnemonics. Just starting organic chem basics, and this helps!

Hii lamrae😲😘😘
i said "nah ill just remember them normally" but ended up thinking of all these.
This is fantastic! I shared it with my whole class.
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!😂 Made it all so much easier!!
Thank you so much for helping me remember these groups
Your tricks actually helped me! Thank you so much!
Wow you are a life saver!!!
this is genius, helped me so much!!!
extremely useful thicks n funny too...plzzz make more vedios♥️
This helped me a lot! Thank you :)
Yes! Great question! An amine can be bonded to multiple R groups.

Txns for helping , my 10th boards are on the way and u showed me a way to remeber a difficult topic 😍
I can never remember amide for the life of me. Thank you for the tips!! Also, I personally remember ether by "ether or" because it has "r or" in it :)
GREATEST VIDEO EVER IM SERIOUS tnx
love it ! the method I was seeking for
This helps a lot! I’ll be trying to use lookalikes in the future to study. I’m going to apply the “key” from ketone to most of them. Like acid anhydride is just an O holding two keys? That’s brilliant 🤣
Thanks for the video 📸!it really made me getting understand it easier
this helped big time studying for my exam!!!
Heyyy
Ester: Double O Double R Easter!! Never will forget that one
I liked so much 😂❤️❤️❤️
for ester since it can be written as RC=OOr, there's the word " 'cor'e" in there, someone named ester is good to her core haha, helped me memorize!
This is brilliant!
thank you so much! my first ochem 1 exam is monday and this helped a lot!
You are a life saver
Thanks a lot dude it helps me a lot 😍
Thank you, I was having a tough time with these.
Very helpful.....thanx!
This is soo helpful THANK YOUU!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS AMAZING
This was funny and helpful!! Thanks!!
this video was super helpful! Thank you!
I usually learn difficult terms like this... 👌
Thanks! It helped me a lot 😁😀
you're a lifesaver!
very helpful video!! compensates my crappy chem
thanks for this it is realy helpfull to me
Thank you very much! It really works
7 years later... Thank you!
Thank you I did well in my exam
thank you sooooooooooooo much. it was really useful. keep going ^_^

I love it and thanks for sharing!
Hyyy
Thanks it really worked
You are awesome
Really very helpful:)
But by the way ..Where are u from Madame??::))
Good day Miss, if the Arene has an OCH3 and OH connected to it, what would we call it?
I always remember ester because she likes a Coors double. 😂😂😂
I also like ester topic
😂
Thanx... i need help actually i need to highlight all the functional groups that are present in nicotinic acid
2:24 to 2:31
"I know it sounds silly but trust me these things work"
Me: Proceeds to enter car after finishing a box of wine (or two)
Just kidding😅😅. Thank you for this video BTW
Does an amine have to have NH2, or can the N be bonded to 3 diffferent R groups and still be considered an amine?
All of these are amines but these are called primary, secondary & tertiary amines respectively.
I love this!
very helpful! thank you!
Thank you maam. Please how can we memorise their priority😊
great very helpful thanks!
Nice
Can you do a video on all the different types of reagents and their corresponding names like Mark- & anti-Mark?
Which app are you using?
I searched a lot but couldn't find any such app.
Mam, Can you please tell me how to memorize PRIORITY SERIES? 😐
thank you this helped a lot
carboxylic - you can get in your car to get boxed wine (alcohol) so cheesy but I love it lol .:)
helped me a lot
THX...
Thank you very much for helping .can u please tell how to remember their names if they r in compound..ex:alcohol-ol
I liked it ..,..
But if u had more functional groups like Nitro , cyanide,Thioalcohol etc..then it would be very useful....
Thank you so much!
Ketone - king of the jungle's tone is a roar R-O-R group
On what basis funtional groups are given preference in the nomenclature
God bless you
👏👏👏
Crazy aunt Ester is trying to shove a bat in her car
It sounds kinda nonsense but its very effective XD I swear lol
surprisingly helpful
muito bom! obrigado.
I really like the aldehyde one ...lol
For some reason, I think of ethers as little spiders with a bunch of legs. Like, the O is the head and the R groups on both sides are it’s legs 😂😂😂
Very easy
