I see this fanfare has blown up....This fanfare is originally called SP...the name is from the original TROMBONE section that created this fanfare in 2001 from Maynard Evans High School. The section is called Snake Pitt, with 2 t's.
Cool but it just sounds a little better for tuba to play it considering how big of a range they play no hate though spread the word but that’s just my opinion
All of these people that are criticizing dont know what they are talking about. You can obviously tell if you have any decent music experience that it sounds iffy because of the camera, not the tuba.
I'll never forget the first time I watched this video, this made my day. Respect to all Tuba Players around the World. Especially to these guy's right here, this is what you call Music.
early 2000s cameras and microphones werent the best and even through the low quality audio you can tell how amazing of players these guys are! gotta love a strong tuba section
What kind of band are you in that plays sousaphones instead of tubas?? Unless its a marching band and you guys are placed under the chair system for some reason.
Coming back here 12 years after my original comment to thank you for this video, I have a lot of fun memories of playing Sonic boom in high school because of this. So close to my heart ❤
As a sousaphone and tuba player myself I know the struggles on how hard tonguing is. And also I am in awe at how the main guy was playing that loud while tonguing, like that is insane. Thank you guys for blessing us with this beautiful song.
That's the sort of thing that really helped get my tone quality, and endurance in shape, just playing songs and stuff as slow and smooth as you can, for as long as you can, you can also do it in front of a tuner in order to also work on pitch consistency.
i just got into highschool and started to play a sousa. i have much more repect for you guys now that i have that thing on my shoulder all the time now. great job!
Bro I found this song out from my trumpet friend playing it a year ago and I thought it was insane then he said its a trombone fanfare but me the tuba player was like "heck nah I need to play this perfect on the tuba" thank you for the video
I’m commenting in 2021 and these guys are still the best sousaphone players that I’ve heard and I’ve been in region and heard tuba players and these guys are better and I’m 3rd chair for trumpet❤️
The one in the middle was my section leader and big bro to this day. He was nothing to fuck around with and led 30 men in the most undisputed tuba section in HBCU. His leadership and no non sense demeanor is the reason a lot of us are leaders in our perspective career fields to this day.
Hey my name is Ojanae and I'm a seventh grader who plays tuba..and I just want to say that this song is awesome and I would really love to know the name of the song yu guys played. Thank yu
Just in case anyone's curious, the song is "Sonic Boom". Not sure who composed it but there it is. (mad props to low brass. BIG instruments. BIG sound. BADASS)
The year was 2009, I was visiting my brother and sister-in-law, her brother was there, my age, and showed me this video when we were taking a break from playing Halo 2. Good ass times. Still just as impressive as the first time I heard it.
That was awesome you guys!!! You inspired me and my brass playing friends to make our own version of this song. Everyone who's a fan should check it out! I'm a tuba player and this is probably my favorite fanfare. GO TUBA!!!!!! TUUUBBBAAA!!!!!!!!
As a lot of people know. it takes a lot of air to play tuba. but the key is to have enough air. Usually running or doing aerobics will help increase lung capacity. You could also change mouthpieces. My friend, who used to play softer than me, switched to a shilkie and became darker and louder. But tone quality is always key when playing loud. Personally for me I have large lung capacity thanks to all the work of marching band
I wanna go a little in depth :)... A sousaphone is a type of tuba. When sousaphones were first designed, they were actually intended for concert use. Assuming a sousa and tuba have the same bore size, tubing length, and mouthpiece, valves, the tuba tends to have a smaller bell, while the sousa has a larger one. *The result in a sousa is more harmonics = slightly brighter tone* although the low harmonics are more dominant, so it results in the ability to be louder with less fundamental frequency.
just awesome, been playing this for days now together with another tuba player. it might not be as good as you guys are but the feeling is pretty much the same haha
after all tha bands i've seen & played with...Edgewater 07 is still the most special group that I've ever been a part of. theydon't make em like this no more
i am a tuba player at my middle school, there are two tubas, me and my friend, and if we get one more tuba i going to try to play that, awesome job guys!
Sounds like a good tip! Another one I've used for years, is just playing anthems/hymns/psalms at a really slow tempo, while working on holding each out note! May seem boring, but done miracles for me!
I see this fanfare has blown up....This fanfare is originally called SP...the name is from the original TROMBONE section that created this fanfare in 2001 from Maynard Evans High School. The section is called Snake Pitt, with 2 t's.
It has!! Lol but you are completely correct about the name and school connected to this fanfare!!
I was ONE of the creators...
Oh snap! Well good stuff man! It has to be a good feeling to see something you helped to create spread like this!!
+Glen Williams You're awesome love what you helped create!
Cool but it just sounds a little better for tuba to play it considering how big of a range they play no hate though spread the word but that’s just my opinion
100% of a tuba section playing. that's rare on this level
that's 300%
This true
Its okay
My band only has 1 and she’s a jerk and never plays well
@Daniel Clement factual statement. As a tuba player I second this.
All of these people that are criticizing dont know what they are talking about. You can obviously tell if you have any decent music experience that it sounds iffy because of the camera, not the tuba.

Thanks Chris!
Thanks!
chris sands Same here, I watched this back in 2007 when I was 10 and was totally amazed.
TheCRTman Thanks!!!
Thanks
The guy playing the lead tuba part is pretty dang good .... you have to put into account how loud he is playing and how clear the double tonguing is
This is true, I can do it, however it requires a lot of effort for me.
I bet
15 years later, this is still the best quality
Thanks!
Lol
Had this playing on 1.5x and thought you guys were gods
Victor Lenguyen LOOOOL
To be fair they still are
They are gods
Ngl it sounds like a shitpost at 1.5 speed
@@goodday3185 IT DOES 💀
As section leader, I am forcing everyone to learn this masterpiece
I watched this video in like 2017 and I still today in 2023 think where are these gangstas at now. From Australia I love it
Lol! thanks man. We're still out here doing our thing. All living in separate places now though
Tonguing on point
Credit's to their tonguing! You know how hard it is to tongue on a tuba?! These guys made it sound easy!
Zarnack24 Thanks
It's quite amazing they can toung like that, wish I can toung like that on my tuba
I keep coming back to this, years after years, it's 2023 and it'll be more I'm sure. Musical magic
early 2000s cameras and microphones werent the best and even through the low quality audio you can tell how amazing of players these guys are! gotta love a strong tuba section
I'm first chair Sousaphone player and these guys are the best.
Thank you!

@@manuelreyna8460 we rank our susas on my marching band
Yeah in my marching band we don’t have chairs
i always love listening to this piece. from one tuba player to another, this will forever be badass.
The dude in the middle was MY section leader at cookman. Love you Dre! May God continue to bless you!
Thank you so much! Hope you're doing well!

I've been looking for this video for days based just on the tune and nothing else. So glad I found this gem again.
I rewatch this video at least once a year and it always brings a smile to my face.. makes me miss band a lot :')
I rewatch it once a year too man this is what got me into really playing tuba
This is the best sonic boom video and it’s not close.
It's hard to beat the original video lol
@@DreDayChannel That's true lol, it's always nice when the original video ends up being the best one
12 years ago I asked my fellow tubas if they wanted to attempt this. They all got it and I can’t read music so that was that.
Best Snake Pit on UA-cam by far.

The cleanest version I've seen Fr, great control for blasting (:

Omg that was crazy y'all sound awesome 👍

2022???? Tuba🔥🔥
I seen this at age 12. I've been a tuba play ever since, I'm now 20.
Wow! That's crazy to know. Glad you ended up playing one of the best instruments!
Who’s here in 2024
Played many instruments in my life. The tuba started all. Love that bigass, clunky, maker of a metallic warcrys.
I play the little tuba and that's just awesomeness right there!!!!!!!!
Nope. I meant the tuba not little tuba! Lol
That was awesome you guys!!! You inspired me and my brass playing friends to make our own version of this song. Everyone who's a fan should check it out! I'm a tuba player and this is probably my favorite fanfare. GO TUBA!!!!!! TUUUBBBAAA!!!!!!!!
I play the clarinet but that was real good!
Thanks!
We going deep fried with this one
The first part is easy tbh, fun tho
This is dope. Wish I could find an album for this type of vibe with tubas. It screams “power song” lmao
You guys are awesome. But just so ya know, S.P. stands for snake pit. Search it up, its really popular on trombones these days...
Thank you! I know it does stand for Snake pit. We actually got the fanfare for another high school trombone section. Lol.
KAME HAMEHA Right! It was originally a trombone fanfare but me and my boys wanted to play it bad so we did lol
Sousaphone is more for a louder volume, and a tuba is for proper tone. It's harder to play the sousaphone and make it sound as good as these guys do.
man those are some big trumpets
Tubas
Chrisanthia Sampson /s
Michael Yin oh lol
your fucking stupid 😂
+Izaiah Storr you're*
intimadation is waaaaaay up there in this song.

I play tuba sousaphone and trombone I want to learn
Great job!!

I play Bari Sax...
Such energy combined with the powerful bass of the tuba, this is excellent! five stars!
It would have been alot better if it was a better
it's a tuba sousaphone

The low quality videos are always the best
i want to play that one day!
and that is a modified version of the tuba used for marching. its called a sousaphone.
great video!
Oh wow man that's sick!! Great job!
I'd love to hear this with a beat. Superb work guys.

Damn son, that's some seriously crazy tuba-ing right there. Good work.
I'm an ex tuba/sousa player from University of Hawaii, this is fkn badass... brings back memories of blatting with my friends.
you guys are so great i wrote a percussion part to this song and our drumline and tubas are hoping to play it together next year
I really wish this was put on iTunes and recorded professionally because I would so buy it!
that black boy in back has done the best i have ever heard that and my friend is amazing at this
This easily made my day and my day tomorrow as well, and tomorrow is Christmas.
God I gotta get a tuba and start playing again. Was a tuba player in high school but haven't played since. That was eight years ago.
That was freakin amazing. You guys are boss.
Did I just actually hear mostly clear eighth/sixteenth notes?
Dude, epic:D

As a fellow tuba player, you three are gods!
At my high school one of our section leaders saw this video and now has 12 tubas playing this tune and its amazing. Thanks guys :D
omg this is crazy, the trombone version of this is unbelievably badass too
Gotta love the sousaphone sound. Only a sousaphone player can truly appreciate the work that goes into it.
Anyone here in 2022? I had this saved like 10 years back
I've now listened to this song over 100 times, and I don't even know why...
I'm a traditional tuba player and I just played the sousaphone for the first time yesterday it's awesome
dude i finally found how to play this.. I can almost tongue this clean.. these guys are beasts... Go Tubas!
you guys' tone is great! I'm infinitely jealous
beautiful harmony and double tonguing!
