    The website looks great and you did pronounce Ipswich correctly. Sigh, I am not a fan of the ruffles trend and had been hoping it would take a hiaius, but I guess everyone loves it but me.

    I’m on your website a few times a week to access your alteration tutorials and I’m so happy with the changes! It’s easier to navigate and I love the look of it as well! Great job! Also, I was on the Boden website on Mothers Day and fell in LOVE with the strawberry print shirt dress and the linen check wrap dress, so I ordered fabric and can’t wait to recreate those looks! I really like your sew the look videos because sometimes I need a little inspiration and they help me stay current!

    Oh, my! I love your inspiration pics, especially that Farm Rio dress!
    For the asymmetric front pants, take a look at the Fibre Mood Onah Trousers. They're almost a perfect match, including the pleated front. I've found that The Foldline is an amazing resource. I went to the Women's Trousers section and entered "asymmetric" and it came up.

    The Boden swimsuit is also almost identical to the new Patterns for Pirates Palm Springs Swimsuit. It's also available for babies/kids (down to 3 months!!!) so I'm planning to make matching suits for me and my toddler this year!
    We're also in Indiana and I probably don't need another swimsuit buuuuuuuut I also need one haha

    Here's my secret for Ellie Whittaker fabric: my husby buys it for me at Spotlight when he goes to Australia. 😂

    The inspiration piece you have matching the Patina blouse has a sleeve similar to a dress I saw in Anthropology. It isn’t achieved with just elastic. They have an inner sleeve made out of T-shirt cotton that is short sleeve, then they attach the hem of the woven sleeve to it. Unusual construction but very cool effect. Might be challenging to iron.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 місяці тому

    Yahoo! One of my favorites of your videos. UA-cam even tried to talk me into one from 4 years ago this morning. What is your favorite fall fabric? I am sewing a new travel wardrobe for retirement--Germany, grandkids!

    • @TomKatStitchery

      I love a good cotton twill for bottoms and I love using merino or wool jersey knits as well for layering pieces! Ponte is another good Fall fabric!

    Love all the summer outfits. The site looks fantastic. Jen did a great job. I’m struggling with a part on a dress pattern. Instructions not real easy to grasp. Even had a friend come over who has done quite a bit of sewing and she couldn’t understand it. So I’ll put it aside and move on to something else and maybe I’ll get a spark in my brain.

    I love when you do these videos. Please. Can you tell me why shorts start riding up in the thigh sometimes? Would a looser pair of Tinelys be better or worse for the bunching?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 місяці тому

      It really depends on your thighs and their shape. Sometimes, the shorts ride up because there is too much excess fabric between the legs and it just gets worked up as you walk. This is usually more typical with tight fitting biker/athletic type shorts. Sometimes it can be the hemline. With my thighs, I need the hemline to fall right below the fullest part of my thigh because my thighs are really full at the inner thigh at the top, but then quite a smaller a couple of inches down. I need my hemline to hit at the smallest part so it doesn't keep riding up trying to find the smallest part. Other times it can be that you just need a bit more ease at the leg because the leg is a bit too tight and trying to work its way to a smaller part of the leg. That being said, it's hard for me to say whether or not the Tinley's might be better or worse for that issue as it really depends on your particular leg.

  • @helenwood3199
    @helenwood3199 3 місяці тому +1

    Could you demonstrate how to do the flare out cut when making shorts from a pant pattern? Do you have to be mindful of adding a certain amount to the outside and a different amount to the inside of the leg in order to stay on grain?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 місяці тому

      I can show how to do that! That's a great tutorial idea! To asnwer your question, yes, you need to add the same amount to the side seam and inseam in order to keep the grainline balanced.

    With your bathing suit, as much as a one piece is great, the flexability of having it as a two piece for bathroom purposes is worth it. You could just lengthen the top and finish off the waist as a yoga waist and it will look like a one piece, no one will know!

    Doesn't the stunning, two-tiered skirt have some sort of trim at the bottom? Can't totally tell from the picture but seems like maybe it does.

    • @Northandsouthsewing
      @Northandsouthsewing 3 місяці тому

      I will. Good idea. I know I'm going to do the I2S Majorelle along with the 2 Seamwork patterns. I'm going to do the Crop top/and skirt, but hopefulyy with a pattern I already have. Also the Cashmerette Briarwood and the Love Notions Rapsody and Tinley Skirt. And, then the FPC, Patina Blouse. Yay!

      Are you referring to the yellow skirt and top? I think it's just a border print and they used different parts of the boarder for the tiers.
