    Great content! Looking forward to the rest. The "if it is not a yes . . ." rule is not only a great wardrobe rule, it also works in so many other life areas: decor, pets, vacation destinations, job offers. It is a great rule.😊

    Great content! I can't wait for more. I too am in a style rut, as my life has changed, and I don't know where to go with my style. 26:19

    What a fun series you’re creating! Stephanie is very down to earth, easy to understand and personable. As I’m transitioning to gray I’m interested in her comments regarding hair color in your upcoming video.

    Question: does going gray change what my color choices should be?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  8 місяців тому +5

      She talks about it more in the next video we do together, but according Stephanie your hair, tans and sunburns are overtones and your "colors" are based on your undertones. So short answer is no from her 😂.

    Fantastic program! Some things I already knew however I did learn a lot of valuable information here. I have somewhat of an hour glass shape with larger hips. I look better with darker, Lee busy patterns on the bottom. Fitted styles look better on me as the looser clothing makes me look frumpy and dumpy as I'm only 5'1". True colors also look better on me as pastels and grays wash me out. I also lean towards bigger prints, stripes, and solids. Busy prints look terrible on me.

    I've had my colors done, Calm Summer. What shall I do, I am now drawn to the muted colors, normally I go for the bright vibrant colors.

    Very interesting. A few years back, after a somewhat traumatic period, I decided to abandon my conservative solid colored wardrobe to loosely goosey comfy prints...I was all set for the perfect covid wardrobe. However, as of late, I want to upgrade and add refinement to my (as my 21 year old daughter calls it) my crazy old bag lady chic. Trying to figure out if there is a Catholic school Boho next chapter look for me

    Cool conversation! I'll add two discoveries. (Still haven't nailed down my process for building a well edited, satisfying wardrobe.)
    Discovery 1: It's a good idea to spend 90% of our time and clothing budget on the pieces that actually get worn 90% of the time (weather/tasks permitting.) Garments that work only in our "fantasy self" lives - Fortune 500 board rooms, galas at the Cannes Film Festival, lunch for 20 on our Tuscan terrace, or after we become superfit - shouldn't dominate our budget and closet space.
    Discovery 2: So-called timeless clothes don't always time-travel with us. Consider a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans plus baggy T-shirt that were fab on us at age 24. Scroll forward to age 54. Assume you still have them and they still fit. Look hard in the mirror: the impression the same outfit gives today is probably very different. What looked effortlessly chic on the 24-yo can look bedraggled on a 54-yo. Because our posture, hair, skin, weight distribution..the totality of our body has changed. Good coats, sweaters, shoes and accessories can work over a lifetime. Whether other garments work for us depends on effort and dumb luck.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  8 місяців тому

      I agree with you on both of your discoveries---although a gala would be fun every now and then....
