Im Flabagastered!! Obviously you get called out mostly to jobs with suspect issues, but it would be great to see a waterproofing walkthrough which has been done well.. for comparison 😁
the pin holes in the waterproofing is from them trying to do 1 thick coat instead of 2-3 normal coats....the waterproofing shrinks a little when it dries....a good water proofer will use 12mm poly, as well as the membrane, using folds in corners not cuts. im thinking of starting a waterproofing business soon, maybe not soon enough.
We are eagerly awaiting watching your new videos to take new and recent information and add it to the previous information We ask God, Lord of the worlds, to grant you success, payment, and sincerity in working to help others
Watching your videos and reading over the standards I feel more across waterproof requirement standards than seemingly quite a number doing jobs in the trade. When doing ones own bathroom it instills more confidence doing it slowly and carefully to the requirements (and beyond), in combo with selecting the appropriate products and compatibility, that DIY waterproofing isn't a risky option. It really isn't rocket science just requires proper processes in all the details.
Hi mate , as a tradesman it's good to see you point these things out , may I say that by playing your little voice recorder it sort of plays down the seriousness of the issue and takes away from the professional inspection .
6:45 Correct me if I am wrong but I think, 150mm above Finished floor level is good practice but not the min. compliant height. Correct should be the upturn height which usually 60-70mm above finished floor level, unless it’s on a balcony edge wall where it should be turned up and terminated into the drip groove(usually).
What is common in nz is we put in a stainless steel shower tray in and then tile over it so even if the tiles leak the water won't ever leave the shower area
I demolished an old bathroom in our house and it had a Copper tray under the tiled shower base. It’s sad to see new bathrooms “waterproofing” done so poorly these days in comparison to the one I removed from the 1960. Even the best smear on waterproofing is nothing compared to a copper or stainless steel tray.
@@stjepanovicsful We also pulled out a copper basin with a fibreglass install over the top and tile over that. I guarantee you have never seen worse wood rot/mould than what was underneath all of that ‘water proofing’.
Imagine having years of experience doing the same job EVERY DAY and being SO BAD at it. Then not only KEEPING YOUR JOB but no doubt, also getting PAY RISES!!! In most industries, you would LOSE your job VERY QUICKLY, but in the building industry, it seems to be a BADGE OF HONOUR to be USELESS at your job. Just keep JUICING the client to the EXTREME!!
G'day, Love your channel, man. Q. Is silicone used the day before you membrane to create the 12mm transition in the corner or is it all membrane slapped on. Q. The pin holes that are forming is this caused by the membranin being applied too thick. Q. Would it be better to apply the membrane with two coats over consecutive days to avoid pin holes. ✌️ Peace.
How was this done in the past when bathrooms were made to last decades? These modern waterproofing techniques look overly complicated and difficult to get right, as they require a lot of fiddly, time consuming detail work. Even if they are done correctly, how long do they last?
Not as long as the copper tray I pulled out of my 1960 bathroom. I agree these modem waterproofing membranes are are cheap, fiddly and probably not very durable.
The water proofing is really easy to get right use the wide tape cover all the coins first overlap the tape then do first coat wait a day or more do second coat and check thickness and do a third if requires. The floor tiles need to be laid on solid adhesive with no air gap underneath and you will never get any water issues especially if the bathroom floor is all sloped to a floor drain properly as well.
If a second story balcony waterproofing has been passed with in-adequate falls and bowing of substrate sheets creating pooling of laid substrate (stick-down tiles) ( no bedding ) , who is liable for the repair once the job has been complete/tiled,?
Imagine if a surgeon messed up 98% of the time when operating, left surgical instruments inside patients, etc. Comparable behaviour seems to be NORMAL in the building industry.
You guys need to use more preformed shower pans, niches, and curbs. An extra $200 on a shower job would save so many inspection failures and thousands in damages.
The problem starts with the builder paying tilers low rates , then the tiler thinks lets skimp on the glue so he goes and uses a 10mm trowel on 600× 600 tiles and there we have the problem
This isn't a proper water proof this is a builder getting in his mates who have watched a couple of jobs and said they can do it for half the price 🤪 builder saved $1000 but given homeowners years of heartache 😢.... Rats👿
Being in the waterproofing/ceramic tiling game for over 30 years , retired now why would they not tape every corner, it’s not hard, let it dry for 24hrs then another coat. That could not of been done by a professional or someone who takes pride in there work. I bet they didn’t prime the surface either.
I ask God to raise your reputation, relieve you of your burden, set right your affairs, purify and enlighten your heart, and I ask Him the Almighty to write for you the highest degrees in this world and the Hereafter 💜🏝️

There goes Santa mate haha
I initially hated your videos but now I think your great. Your education is awesome. My thoughts you should spend more time educating in your videos

I love this channel since I want to do an owner/builder house soon. Shows me what I need to keep an eye out for on the tradies.
but its super scary, isn't it? Hard to find good builders that do the right things.

Love your work. Keep the videos coming..
This video needs more exposure!
Cost to install a swimming pool: $50,000. Ability to get one for free thanks to bad waterproofing: priceless.

Love your content bro…keep these dodgy tradies accountable…the industry needs more inspectors like yourself…that cannot be paid off
These arent tradesmen....theyre afghan or atleast immigrant tilers. Theyre tought badly from the start and dont know any better

In qld you don't need a waterproof inspection. I wonder how many bathrooms aren't up to code.
Are there ANY DECENT TRADESMEN IN THAT COUNTRY ?😮
Most Australian balconies leak. Where are the inspectors?
How the hell do these guys get qualified, and sad thing is many of these builds get signed off as compliant.
lack of supervisors on site perhaps, most guys doing the jobs are fresh from schools.
Thank you for your content very useful we are first home buyers thanks heaps

How do they fuck up the water stop every time
Do we need to waterproof toilet/wc and powder room under the Australian standards?
Links to the stated standards / code would be great. 👍
You are really something special. Thanks.

How is a tiler supposed to tile over all the lumps in the waterproofing? No doubt they will just slice them off and tile over and say nothing.
They probably chisel them off…lol
He's pretty close. The tile glue will sit the tiles on top of that
The problem starts with the builder paying tilers low rates , then the tiler thinks lets skimp on the glue so he goes and uses a 10mm trowel on 600× 600 tiles and there we have the problem
Dirty substrates always compromises adhesion. Basic practice to clean area thoroughly first.
Sub class waterproofing from the 'contractor'. We had the same issue. Lucky we sacked the cowboy and hired a real pro before it was too late.
Those were not pin holes.
Why do trades think they can splash some water proof paint around and think it's a good job?
coz slack arses are signing off on the crappy work
Note to self, never buy a house with a balcony
Or bathrooms.
No mate, never buy a house that was built after 1990.
you could train a monkey to do the same job 😂
Please show some videos of a good job.
That visible tape in that shower😂😂😂
Lol what rabble. You think they would rectify everything BEFORE they called you back. Time for a third video when they call you back.... again.
The amount of rubbish on the jobs amazes me let alone the poor workmanship. Well probably doesn't amaze me. In my experience the two go together
The concrete was wet when they put it down I'd say
Have you ever inspected an installation that meets your standards
so did the cowboys fasten their horses to a post outside when they rode up for work....
7:22 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Hahaha, dude. your just on the balcony by yourself pressing voice controls of your own voice, talking about someone's shit work 😂

Looks like someone didn’t even go to trade school!!!
'Another quality build by Clown Constructions'
ill prob up my prices soon seeing as all these donkeys will be out the industry soon lol.
Useless Mayets in this country
Worst I’ve ever seen!!! Shocking cowboyship!
The work is so sloppy
