Seeing Batman with a gun is weird, but since his parents were killed by a knife in this story I can understand why he doesn’t have an aversion to using them.
I never found it weird, this phobia of guns only happend because of nolan, most of the time batman just doesn't use one just because yes.
@@FelipeA81 this actually isn't true
Originally, Batman Did have a gun .
@@spottedslash4256 in his debut he did have a gun 🔫
@@FelipeA81 that’s not true lmao
"Those are awful looking penguins" could possibly be a reference to Lovecrafts aparent dislike of penguins. In one of his books "at the mountains of madness" he describes penguins as being "grotesque"
Well, those penguins were 6ft tall, blind, monstrosities in the book that were being used as livestock.
i love penguins! but theres a photo of a penguin online you mightve seen where its facing the camera with its mouth fully open. makes my skin crawl
Like the first reply says, they were 6ft tall eyeless featherless and basically domesticated or just evolved by the elder gods for their consumption
Edit: Also Albino and with open sores. Earlier chapters mentioned the normal penguins by the coast
@@Lokhir100Well we must also take into account that Lovecraft had an aversion to anyone who isn’t practically albino, hates Euclidean geometry (basically modern middle geometry and algebra), is disgusted by fresh produce, seafood, and was terrified of air conditioners. Homie either hated or was terrified of anything and everything.
Lovecraft was also paranoid, hates "weakly bred" white people and every minority, hated air conditioning, thought the invisible spectrum of light was evil, thought fresh produce was gross, among a bunch of other oddities. Lovecraft was a weird lil dude, to say the least
Thank you for doing these. I am visually impaired and can't read traditional comics, THAT BEING SAID, I love the stories themselves, so I really appreciate these. PLEASE keep them up!
Graphic audio has dramatized some classic DC and Marvel comics. I love listening to them before going to sleep. Very high quality and very well made.
They could've used John Constantine in this story because he's a paranormal detective.
Could have, but this ordeal would have been a piece of cake for John. I think having jason blood and etrigan here was much more fitting.
Maybe he was busy elsewhere or not born yet
@@quinnzykir if most of the gotham rogues are around at this time as well as the bat family, I’d say the entire worlds timetable was moved up a little, he definitely existed in this time period. I really think that Jason blood just didn’t want him involved
@@Red_Ryry oh yeeeah. Didn’t think of that
Batman as drawn by Mike Mignola, love it. Was there ever a Hellboy/Batman crossover? There should be.
Yes It was called Batman,Starman, and hellBoy. And there was a fourth character from dark horse
All of them look ugly as hell lol
@@BIGJXXX I have that book never read it yet lol I need to tho
I feel like they’d get along.
@@BIGJXXXJack Knight Starman was great in that
Personally, I'd rather see Green Lanturn vs. Cthulhu as GL's weakness is fear and Cthulhu could make Parallax tremble in fear.
YES!
THIS!
Cthulhu does not inspire fear, but madness.
That’s some great fucking insight. But DC’s counter arguement is; Batman sells
@@chriskraucunas8720 sure, but I'd wager madness has a negative impact on the willpower required for weilding a Green Lanturn ring.
Only works on weak will, weak mind, weak constitution. Cthulhu is trash.
19th Century Batman always felt like a Assassin Creed Character. 😅
This is 20th century batman
Such a great Lovecraftian Batman story. Thank you so much for reading it to us on such a dark day of the year. 😎
You know, I had thought Gotham by Gaslight was a great ElseWorlds book, but I love this story. The Cthulian Mythos fits Batman's story, and his Rogue's Gallery so well. They probably could have worked Riddler into this if they tried, but I'm glad they didn't try to fit Joker in somewhere.
Batman was inspired by Lovecraft so it only makes sense
@@RomanvonUngernSternbergnrmfvus no
@@hardasphuk7633 what’s the name of the mental asylum again ?
@@RomanvonUngernSternbergnrmfvus How?
@@natek4488 look at the name of the asylum. Batman as a whole has huge inspirations from Lovecraft and gothic horror in it as a whole.
Kinda depressing but interesting how in H.P Lovecraft fashion the heroes either die, go insane or get mutated. Still sad that oliver quinn got offed so quickly
If the abyss stares at Batman he stares back…
And the abyss blinked
@@darkservantofheaven and when the abyss blinked, batman did not and that's when he knew he fucked up
It's amazing to see the character changes and design changes since this was written non of these characters resemble what they look like today. And BATMAN USING A GUN LOVE IT
It's a shout back to an older time when bats did use a gun, this is a newer comic from my knowledge, I think the writer wanted a more noir feel
I mean...Batman did use a gun on Darkseid during the Final Crisis event...so it's not like he won't use a gun, he just won't use one on humans.
@@jeremiahbristow7609 yeah but we all know that wouldn't keep dark side down I'm talking more like when he was first created when he killed people with guns
Well his parents weren't killed by a gun in this version, so he doesn't have a vendetta against using them.
@@theshade6176 they were killed by a knife in this version
When the naked guy who looks like a bird and wants to live among the penguins was the most sane person in this universe...
😶
Sadly and disturbingly true
Another one for the new thumbnail style, but I wanted this one to be obviously a Full Story. Most of you liked the old one, so thought we'd try it a second time. Prob try 3 of them this week or something.
Wow
✌🏻😎👍🏻
Batman vs Twitter
@@BadBoyBird LOL
Great idea
At first I read *Batman VS Chuchu* and thought "What is Batman doing fighting a Gundam character?"
God damn it now I want that too
Um something awesome now that you say that
Can't wait for upcoming Batman the Doom that came to Gotham animated movie.
I just seen the animated movie and love this twist to everything and people. Great video
What did you view the movie on
I just wathed BATMAN the Doom That Came to Gotham (2023) this was a one to one adaption of this comic story wow
The fact that Batman is use guns in this begs the question if Bruce’s aversion to guns is a mental trigger or handicap due having watched his parents die from being killed by gunshot and if they had died any other way would change his view of using firearms in his arsenal 🤔
I think it's a combination of his no-killing rule, as guns are specifically built to kill, and the trauma of watching his parents getting shot and killed right in front of him.
I think it's just a simple attempt to justify a different look and feel to this incarnation, given he's in the 1920s, and firearms fit the feel they were going for.
I'm pretty sure in the main comics he said that he was trained with multiple firearms and doesn't have a problem with guns being used to stop criminals he just personally doesn't like to use them (but yeah I aways imagined a gun just brought back some trauma)
I remember watching the animated, straight-to-DVD adaptation of Darwyn Cookes "Justice League: The New Frontier." The main antagonist of that story, the Centre, had a lot of Lovecraftian elements to it. Inhumane physiology, vast abilities, driving people crazy, entire cults dedicated to it, etc. There was also Icthultu, from the Justice League animated series, who looked a lot like a certain Elder God priest. So, DC has dipped into Lovecraftian horror before.
Skipped my favorite bit about Harvey and Batman's talk. I may be paraphrasing slightly, it's been ages since I read it.
"How do I look, Bruce?"
"Not good Harvey."
"Just a touch of poison ivy, they say. Should clear up soon."
"No doubt."
So, let's see... Waylon Jones seems to be a Deep One. Copplepot has chosen to live with the albino peguins that the shoggoth feed on where the Elder Things once roamed. Victor Fries's condition is straight from "Cold Air". I feel like Harvey's condition is also a reference. Ra's and Talia wearing clothes of a more Middle Eastern look goes with the concept of the Mad Arab Abduel Alhazred, who supposedly penned the Necronomicon. Speaking of shoggoths, the Great Old One being summoned looks more like a shoggoth than anything else. Maybe Shub-Niggurath, The Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young, perhaps.
Hot take: Its almost impossible to nail the Lovecraft vibe in a visual medium because Lovecraft's writing style relies on the limitations of language. Most of his stories are 99% creepy buildup leading up to this climax that is so horrific that the narrator says it cant be described or fully comprehended, and because the build up was so effective we believe him. Except for cthulhu, who got taken out exactly like Ursula from the Little Mermaid when the protagonist rams his ship into him.
Don't forget the racism...LOTS of that in those books😅
And cthulhu didn't die. He went back to his house
3:08 the panel at the top has to be a reference to the batman slapping robin panel
Great video thank you so much please keep up your amazing work stay safe and have a wonderful and blessed day
I finished the animated movie a few days ago and I really liked it. I don't know if the adaptation was better or I just like Lovecraft style stories. But I just finished the Comic after liking the movie so much. Honestly the Movie is super faithful to the story
The comic is much better
Love the bellboy artstyle ❤
The artist of hellboy wrote this
Just watch this adapted to Blu-ray. It was good and I'm glad I was able to come here and watch this to help clarify some things.
YASSSS...! Thank you, two of my favorites. Love your channel
Thanks!
I was watching your recent video on Logan and I wanted to hear something on Chthulu and I looked up “chthulu comics” hoping you’d had made a video at sum point and off you didn’t disappoint. You never do, miss you man❤️
Gotham is located on the same leyline as Arkham Massachusetts only thing to explain how much occultism happens here batman is a witch slayer
Just saw the movie now here to watch the comic storyline. Thank you for uploading this
What did you view the movie on
@@rome7770 not a bad movie at all they pretty much use most of the stuff in the comic good 8 or 9 outta 10 great movie the guy who voices Batman is a great at it
batman is elder god himself
1 he creates fear
2 he was born from fear
3 two people were sacrificed beneth his feet
conclusion batman is a eldrage god.
Damn... that would make a hell of an else worlds
Especially if you were to tie it Barbatos from the Dark Multiverse,
Bats rhyme with cats, perhaps, in DC's Ulthar, it is illegal to kill a bat, and bats are instead the graceful creatures which fly to and from the Dreamlands using the moon, and any small nooks or crannies.
I hope he punches an eldritch monster.
Was this done by Mike Mignola!?!?!? That cover art is totally giving me Hellboy vibes.
Mignola drew the cover and co-wrote the comic. The art was by Troy Nixey, mimicking Mignola's art style.
“Doom came down to Gotham, it was looking for a soul to steal; it was way behind so it was willing to make a deal.”
Would love for this and the Vampire Batman trilogy to get an animated movie adaptation someday.
Guess what?
Here after watching the animated movie
It's always nice to see Mignola's work.
This needs to be unlocked in the new DMD ks campaign !
Perfect for Halloween 🎃 👌! Like how you brought in various characters in the DC comics series and tied it all together in one neat little package 📦 😀 ! Might we see a sequel someday ?
I’d like to see the JSA vs Cthulhu. Dr Fate, Black Adam, Hawkman, an WonderWoman.
this is a man who can do the fiddlesticks voice
this is getting a movie next year
I liked animated adaptation a little bit more. It resolved some plot points better (especially clash between Quinn and Poison Ivy).
cool to see Etrigan
What's up with it always being Penguin who's the villain that stumbles upon the resting place of some ancient, supernatural horror? First it was Dracula, and now Cthulu?
What’s next Batman vs The Phantom Detective?
Happy Halloween 🎃
I enjoyed this tale of Batman and his city, enjoyed how they showed true Ancient One power, overwhelming and already planed
Watched the movie yesterday, felt like if they could keep the original comic book's dark and gritty style that'd have been a master stroke, felt a bit watered down in the horror element.
What a great story for you to do. Thanks man.
17:40 How many times is this guy gonna die in this Multiverse?!?
Absolutely outstanding video thanks
Holly shit, the movie was so good.
15:30 why why can’t they have him grip his pistol correctly. Aagggh the tea cup. The dreaded fudded tea cup method. The bane of all modern pistoleers.
Great Job, Benny!
I like how blunt and clueless this batman is 🤣
Glad I watched this when It came out, 8months later there’s an animation of this exact story.
The story isn't perfect but I still love it
I always found it so cool that Batman is just a man and he fights and beats things like this
Wow, great narration, and an intriguing mix of cosmic horror and the superhero genre! Really makes me wonder what a Superman would be like in this earth, or if he would really fit into the setting at all…
Just watched the movie... I really wish for a live action movie next
The Arkham music in the background
Im gonna be honest i think in my opinion it could have work if insted of fighting batman it fought aquaman because the sea
The best batman comics I've ever read🔥
Trippy asf that batman fought cthulhu before
The Cartoon animated movie was quite similar to the comic book.
18:50 Another Critical Role fan I see.
good work
Yesss the Comic Book Story has arrived.
This was amazing 😍
Bravo 👏🎉👏🎉 was a good watch and read cried at the end Batman is the man hopefully he regains his form in the series one day
Iä! Iä Cthulhu Btmagn!
A batman story in hellboy style art I need more of this
This is one of your best performances. I will now go an get the comic book.
excellent story
That’s got to be the coolest fricken title for any UA-cam vid I’ve ever seen hahahah heck yea!
This is prett badass, but its still kind of lame knowing what will happen..."batman wins!"
not a chance the animated movie goes this hard
Using the horrifically demonized corpses of Oliver, Kai, and Dick to fight Batman went much harder than werewolves imo
Gotta love mike magnolia’s art style
Mike only drew the covers.
I was just looking up information on Cthulhu, because of the Mandalorian episode gave me similarities to him, and then this Batman movie comes out with Cthulhu in it kind of strange
I never heard of this story before but when I saw the title, I just had to find out how "Cthulhu" was pronounced.
Cthulhu's name is in an alien tongue, I dunno if R'lyehian is the correct term, because a black speech used by the meeping Ghouls is called Pnathic speech, and might resemble R'lyehian. Cthulhu is usually pronounced Kuh-Thoo-Loo, but the pronunciation in the made up language is like clearing everything out of your lungs in 5 seconds.
This story was lit
That was awesome
Of course Batman has fought Cthulhu XD
i spent 30 minutes sitting hear listening to this wondering if there is more
god Elseworlds had some great stories
Awesome
AS MARZÉ TUTU-LU I CAN TELL YOU THAT BATMAN AMD CHTULU ARE THE SAME GUY, AND HE’S NOT SLEEPING ANYMORE
I enjoyed that a lot
I loved this ordering a copy
Batman comic illustrated by Mike Mignola??!??!???? ?
Hole shit
Not illustrated by Mignola, but written by him.
Oh so I been putting this one off for a while but its funny how I just saw a trailer for the animation of this.
Yo, Batman is strapped now y’all watch out 😂
The comic is way better than the animated movie
This Is Nice Benny 😎🤘
Awesome story thanks ! When did this book come out ? I’m almost expecting Hellboy or Abe Sapien to pop out.
How Weird.🤔
A Really old and strange version of Batman that uses a gun and transforms into an actual bat. 🦇
Very Weird indeed. 😑
