- @WaybackRewind I have finally found a working version of my first digital camcorder the Sony TRV-510 from 1999. It stopped working almost 2 decades ago and was replaced with another Sony Digital HandyCam the more famous TRV-480. But today's video is all about the 510. In this video I get reacquainted with a functioning version of this camera and run through some of it's features. Finally I share some sample footage from 1999.

These things are workhorses. SONY did a dam good job in the creation of this. It really is an amazing product of its time. Quality can be good when the heads are clean and the DIGITAL8 tapes don't get worn or used over and over. Mine also started malfunctioning after 5 1/2 years of use. I'm contemplating on getting another one because I have some HI-8/DIGITAL8 tapes.- James D. Watkins
My Original one is suffering from the 32:11 error, which is probably easy to fix if you know how, but I do not know how. This is a common failure mode on Sony Cameras, I should probably learn how to fix it. Thanks for watching.
I just bought one of these a few months ago and used it to shoot parts of a Black Keys video (“On The Game”). Tell me if you can spot it!
