... everyone thought Angie was a little "touched"... a little "special"... and she was... just not the way they thought. She had a bit of unknown supernatural powers... and that boy was now safely locked inside her radio for whenever she needed him.
Helen Reddy was a song stylist, song interpreter and held the title "the 70s Queen of Pop Music". She was the first woman to host the late night musical variety TV show, The Midnight Special" Her genre, primarily ballads, is considered pop Rock, easy listening. Her version of "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from the rock opera (Jesus Christ!! Superstar) catapulted her into fame in 1971. She's a wonderful singer, check out "Peaceful", "I Believe in Music", "You and Me Against the World" and her intl anthem "I Am Woman". RIP to the Queen of Pop.
This was one of my favorites back in the day. It's got that deep and mysterious vibe like Bobbie Gentry's "Ode to Billy Joe", or Ozark Mountain Daredevils "Jackie Blue".
I love this song “it’s so nice to be insane, no one asks you to explain”! If you like her and you like Disney, she was the main female actress in the original Pete’s Dragon (from 1971). Helen’s voice is killer, so clear and beautiful.
I was 13 when this came out, loved the sound and the song but didn't quite understand the lyrics til about 6 months later and absolutely fell in love with it and Helen Reddy. The song makes you think kinda like 'od fo Billy Jole"
Her voice is unique.... slight Australian accent also. It's a song that leaves you thinking what!!! She's put him away in her mind.. her special superpower.. no apology.
I was about 8 yrs old when song was big. I remember hearing it on my clock radio. I loved this song. It had a real R&B feel that I loved. The other "Angie" song I really liked was from the Rolling Stones. That one too has a smooth groove to it.
Yes, as a genre, I refer to these songs as the 'Crazy Lady' soft rock songs of the seventies. Reddy also did, lest we forget, 'Ruby Redress' and "Delta Dawn', two of my personal favorites, that were similarly themed: lonely, crazy ladies fantasizing about fantasy dates and lives. The Lost Souls of the era. It was rather sad. I actually personally knew a few myself.
You are the FIRST vlogger to react to this AMAZING song. Wow, this is a heavy song. Helen's voice was incredible. She sang what was considered the anthem for the Women's movement, "I Am Woman", and this gem gets forgotten. Kudos!
Not many have a powerful voice like Helen Reddy, maybe Karen Carpenter can compare.I love her music you should listen to more. This song is basically about a crazy girl and may or may not have special powers. This is easy listening
I was about 9 or 10 when I Am Woman came out and her album was my first "adult" album. Her voice was amazing. This was Pop Music (i.e. Popular Music) at it's finest. Yes the guy did disappear, never to be found. It was left for you to decide if he came back out of the radio in real life or just in Angie's imagination.
Loved this reaction

She shrunk him into her radio and brought him out when she wanted to.
I miss the '70s...better music through modern chemistry...
I love this song

The missing boy was trying to get Angie to fool around, but he ended up trapped in her radio. How's that for a plot?
BRILLIANT!
@@brianmccullough5764 no the girl is skitz hearing voices seeing things she's crazy
@@Fdt-y1d thanks for your interpretation. I'll stick with mine, thanks.

Helen Reddy also had a big hit with 'You and Me Against the World' and 'I Don't Know How To Love Him'.
Also Delta Dawn, Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red dress), Ain't No Way To Treat A Lady and others.
Helen Reddy I Am Woman!!
Love this song, I was 5 when it came out. Listening to it at night while going to sleep. Fond memories.
Pop song.

She has some good songs.
Folk rock, always a very haunting and weird song. I am a boomer and grew up listening to her
Angie baby knew how to flip the tables on a would-be rapist now he's forever trapped in the radio never be able to get out❤❤❤❤
She could be soft rock or blues, great question Greg!!
You got me confused with a shrink.
Kind of like kids addicted to social media instead of the radio.
I love this song 🎵. Great reaction. 👍 new subscriber 😊
Welcome Tara!
@stephena2390 Thankyou Sir 😄
If I had to assign this a genre, it would be 70's Canadian pop.
The radio swallowed him up watch the cartoon video of this song.
No parents groups tried to have this song banned.
Shes crazy seeing things not there
This is the earliest use of the word "special" for mental patients that I know of.
🤘🏽⚜️🤘🏽
"Make it sound real." Oh, it was real. For one unfortunate evil-minded guy.
I think this is classified as easy listening. Or at least it was back in the day
Love it listen to chris Cornell nothing compares to you
I love a good ghost song. Try Under Your Thumb by Godley & Creme. Happy Halloween 🎃
I dont think Angie killed the boy..she turned the tables on him...she keeps him around as a sex/love slave- its pop music
Helen is genre- less
How about , Delta Dawn good one too
It's kind of scary
she has emotional issues
