The pencil sharpener attached to the tape measure attached to the belt made me think of The Goonies' character Data, with all his gadgets!
He was always my favorite!
Laura Kampf I want one! The tape measure I mean, not Data...lol
@@captkleppto Just build it.

This whole quarantine thing seems to be bringing out the playful side in a lot of UA-camrs and I’m loving it. The smiles are infectious.
Your smile is infectious! During times like these, that is the kind of infection I prefer. Thanks Laura! Oh, and really neat idea!
I agree!
Wow. We learn every day. To see you measure without removing the tape from your belt was inspiring.
30 years a groundworker and i have never thought to do that.
Brilliant.
Nochmals vielen Dank.
There is no fear to hurt wall and door with no hole, no screws, it's a great and ingenious idea. You look so bold and daring not to worry about anything so it is interesting and exciting to see your videos. I keep watching videos and wait for the next.
Your video are very empowering. Your video literally show that women can do anything if they want.
This is why we love you and your work! Thanks Laura!
I love it ! Lots of great tips in this video ! The tape measure with pencil sharpener, the idea to avoid fastening it to anything.... This is brilliant ! Thanks Laura !
I love the Girl Scout Handbook! That is the best! 😊
My husband is going to want one of these... gotta go see how much plywood I have!
Thanks for all you do, Laura! 😊
That's a really great idea! Adding the pull-up bar and handholds is really smart. Also, love the pencil sharpener idea. All kinds of great stuff!
Cool project Laura! I love how you wedge the pieces to hug the door frame. Strong and yet, no screws onto the door frame. Ingenious!
I don’t normally comment on videos... but this is an amazing idea. Great design!
Wow! What a fabulous project. I always wanted an out door a-frame metal swing when I was a child but there was no money for such luxuries and so I had various swings made from single ropes dangling from tree branches, not always comfortable and sometimes the rope broke but they were such fun. It never occurred to me to make an indoor swing, nor that one could make such a beautiful machine without damaging the decor. Re-ignited all manner of ideas in my mind and I now think a swing is on the agenda. Thank you for inspiring me!
The pencil sharpener had me deceased 😂 love your fun editing style, very clean ✨
I found the pencil sharpener in the back of the tape measure most interesting and will modify my tape measure too :)
Nice surprise in the end - the slot is not only for chin-ups but also for stowing the swing .
Great idea . Thank you Laura !
Danke Laura, coole Idee!
Watch twice cause it's so interesting!! Thank you for sharing this idea. 🐕🐾
You always look like you're having so much fun in your builds
Danke Laura!!!! LG Nils
😊
This really might be my new favorite video of yours Laura, its bursting out of joy and happy makery! Can't wait for the generations you are currently inspiring to be stepping in this field... ❤️🙌🏼🤗
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for all your vidéo. I watch them with my 3 years old daughter, she is a fan.
That is totally the coolest idea! Love the shelf for the swing too.
simple, functional and fun. What more can you ask for. Keep the builds coming, they are keeping us from getting Cabin Fever.
Was ein gute Laune Video! Mein Lieblingsmoment ist das Bleistiftanspitzen am Maßband :D
That's a great project Laura. I hope you get a lot of use out of it while you're @.
I had to call my wife in when you brought out the Girl Scout Handbook to ask her how old it was. She has that same book from when she was in Girl Scouts as a girl. She was a co-leader for the troop her sister was in for 5 years after graduating from Girl Scouts herself, and has been a leader for her own troop for the last 24 years. In total, she has been in Girl Scouts for 42 years.
Bowling knots are my favorite! 🖤 Great build!
Fun, quick, and easy family project. Definitely put a smile on my face. 😄 Thanks for sharing!
I'm going to get my husband to do this, I love to swing. I loved how you consulted the Girl Scout Manuel for the knots.
Brilliant! What a great idea. It's a lot of wood but this I would trust more than any bolt I had to put through the wall.
Yes, I saw too many video of folks crashing with their pull up bars 😂 this construction is super solid-and when you‘re done you can take it down in 10 seconds.
It's the type of wall that would influence my decision. A standard brick wall (Germany) holds your weight easily. But a drywall and stud wall is maybe not to easy. But with this one you're on the safe site.
@@atariks1475 most drywall and stud framing has a large header above the door. In the US it is generally two 2" x 8" boards (~ 50mm x 200mm) nailed face to face (with a piece of 1/2 plywood in between) to make it the thickness of the wall and spanning the space above the door. You then have jack studs (sometimes called trimmer studs) that go from the floor up to the top edge of the door frame, and the header rests on the jack studs. Outside the jack studs you have two full height king studs that run from the floor plate to the crown plate (top of wall), and the jack studs are nailed to this all the way up.
This header would be more than strong enough to hold a person on a swing. There is an image of it in this article: www.finehomebuilding.com/2009/01/14/frame-a-door-rough-opening
@@laurakampf lol i read it as "pull up bras"
Tolle Idee!
Hi Laura, I just found your channel recently, I'm loving the creativity and Ingenuity of your ideas, you are trully blessed
Your work continues to inspire and amaze me!
I love this project and I always come back to watch it, so funny and clever
Amazing! Well done! I've always wanted to put up a hangboard but I'm currently renting so was reluctant to screw anything into the walls. This is a great alternative. Thanks Laura!
That is a brilliant design!! I love that you figured out how to do this without actually modifying the wall/door frame
Thanks Laura for this. This is a super fun mini-project. And since it needs very simple tools, it has a low barrier to entry. Being able to take it apart was important for me, because I fully expect to have my kids fighting over it leaving me with no recourse :D
I got the plywood sheet Sunday night, and got it done with a few hours of work after dinner on Monday and Tuesday.
That's a great project Laura. I hope you get a lot of use out of it while you're #stayathome.

Wow! That’s impressive!
I bet some parents are now considering to cut the kitchen table to make this for their quarantined children...
There are probably parents trying to make a kennel from the table for their children about now.
lol I haven't checked yet but I think I saw somewhere that the hardware stores are considered essentials as well.
Ronald Ong yes are open , im in italy and are essentials because sells things for building/ecc
Girl you are awesome you are having way too much fun gotta love you
This is a brilliant and beautiful design. Thank you for letting me see such beauty
That's a really good design! As an engineer myself, I love things that are simple and functional like this - and the pencil sharpener mount too :-D
Awesome idea!!!!!
Another great video from the queen of plywood
Laura, you have no idea how many indoor swings are being made right this second. Very very inventive as always. Love from belgium!
Damn Laura...what an excellent project!
And I love the Girl Scout Handbook knot tying reference material :)
And I REALLY love the pencil sharpener on the measuring tape trick...very handy!
I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it again ... you’re awesome, Laura! Your attitude is absolutely great and I think you rock!
I enjoyed so MUCH this video watching you having so much fun! This is one of the best ones in your channel!
Haste fein gemacht 😅
Nice, I love the idea to store the swing when it is not needed without deconstructing everything 👍
Brillant, danke Dir sehr. Vielen Dank.
Wow I love the edit on this one. feels bouncy and bright! killing it!
What a brilliant idea! Especially for right now.
Hot damn this video is refreshing! Solid, perfectly elegant design, every detail considered, and stylish, playful execution! You, pal, are a human treasure.
I'm a little scared for you with that girth hitch onto the carabiner tho, that's gonna slip or give way with use. Anchor hitch is way more reliable, I used to be a climbing arborist and I'd never use anything else to tie onto a 'biner. Solid as a rock, not too hard to learn, easy to untie when the time comes.
Excellent idea as a climber this would be great for indoor training!
Dein work flow ist so herrlich smooth. Thanks for that!
😄 Didnt see that one coming!
Grown up toys for the home! 👏😁
I love your tape measure trick!!!
That's a fun project! Even if you don't want the swing, the pull up bar seems like a nice little project. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Considering the currant medical situation that is going on world wide and for those who are stuck indoors this indoor swing is a brilliant idea and is easy to make and install without the need to use any fixings. BRILLIANT.
Thank you!
Your welcome Laura, please keep videos coming and I look forward to your inspired next IDEA.
If you had the carabiners hanging down from the frame on their own loops of rope, you could tie multiple loops in the swing's ropes to quickly disconnect and change the length of swing.
God I love you right now!!!! Just finished making one for my daughter! Thank you so much for the continuing inspiration and imagination!
💚💕💚 I used to have an indoor swing as a child. Now I want one again! 🥰
Great idea. And also a brilliant pencil sharpener! 😁
Laura Kampf: the woman whose entire life revolves around the magic of plywood. :-)
Genia! A big hug from Patagonia Argentina
Super Idee, schöne Konstruktion!
Awesome work Laura! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
What an awesome idea. I searched for a way to put up my diy hangboard without having to drill any big holes in my walls since i will only live there a very short time and want to keep the effort for moving out low.
That's really excellent ! Great work !
I don't remember seeing that way of using a tape-measure on this channel before - keeping the reel anchored to your belt and using just the end of the tape to scribe from an edge. Neat.
The way of working throughout also reminds me a little of Jimmy DiResta - confident, fun, practical and as accurate as it needs to be and no more.
Aside from the simple but clever joinery, I like the semi-humorous reference to the girl guides - I can see both a student of knots and a teacher of youngsters here :-)
Thanks for another enjoyable and inspiring video.
The two knots we see her tie are a bowline knot (the one pointed to in the book) and a cow's hitch or girth hitch to the clip.
Amazing gadget for indoor!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Looks like I will need to build one for my grandkids. Thanks for your inspiration.
Nice! Is this the most smiles from Laura in a single video? Love it! 😃
This is brilliant, I love it 😁🙌🏻👏🏻...Such a good idea & fab video Laura!
awesome! You should promote this video in the climbing forums... great idea/structure for hanging the campus boards at home!!
A nice indoors project
You are very creative. Love your work!
Love to see you goofing around and having fun!
wonderful! And yes... nice Paalsteek knot! 😉👍
Thanks for the inspiration. I definitely build an indoor swing now
I love your system for pulling the measure tape from your pants, leaving the whole thing clipped. Then there is the pencil sharpener too! Go Laura!
Simply genius.
really great idea - love your videos - and the smiles >> thank you
Very neat idea! I love this project
Super Idee - toll umgesetzt!
Such a happy film. Love it. Project is so original and well designed. Simple but brilliant. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Incroyable idée 😳
Good job
oh man, been away. the music, video editing and acting are on point! this is smooth
I really enjoyed this new video. I don't know why, but I think there is something new in your filmmaking and I really enjoyed it. Keep up good work 😉
I was happy to see the knots! Good job learning the right knots for the situation.
Hallo Laura, super Idee.
Holy shit. Brilliant. Def making this for my kid! Al's building her a climbing wall next week. She is going to love this
Such a great idea in those time of indoors confinement!
So creative! So cool!!
Tape master! Love your tape technique
Very nice. Fun project, easy to disassemble and reassemble.
