Also,I have great hope from India vs Pakistan rivalry in Javelin.
As a nation,we might not look for athletics but we are obsessed with India vs Pakistan rivalry.
Let's hope something good comes from this Javelin rivalry and both India and Pakistan start doing better in Olympics, especially Atheletics.
So u mean d nation, which plots n kills our innocent soldiers in j n k ahould excel in sports n we shud celebrate it....wow....matlab, soldiers lives is nothing in front of bhaichara n aman ki asha ke kabutar......grow up man.....pakistans existence is on india hate principal.....d one who plays well will win......pak is n will always be nuisance
Can't even spell Neeraj ? Why do you care about Pakistan Yadav. Wanna go there ? Worry about your country.
@@Dr.SyedSaifAbbasNaqvi Arrey yaar.. Id_iots will always be Id_iots. Nothing more can be expected from you.
I know you don't have any CS, but atleast don't show it so openly.
People who ask full name every time they meet new people are bashing shekar gupta 😂😂😂
Much needed perspective. Good points.
Omg these people can not go beyond the discussion of caste n religion
You are a casteist deep down , if you are Indian.... The bizarre gift of Indian culture. 😂
Each & every Indian hockey players must be financially rewarded & honoured publicly.
Pakistan was not in moscow 1980 olympics, even though they had won the 1978 world cup. However, the recent regeneration of indian hockey is wonderful.
An amazing CTC episode after a long time. Kudos Shekhar!
Kindly listen again @10 minute, Sir you missed our Star player and captain Harman.. I listen thrice and I think u missed. May be it is intentional as u not spoken even his name.. I think u should be honest.. kindly correct the same
Should all states of India adopt one sport like odisha adopted hockey
Small suggestion please edit the video and display picture of each player as Shekhar introduces them one by one
It all started with Roelant Oltmans a decade ago if we are being honest. Giving young kids chance to play with seniors. And slowly nurturing the future along with present so we always have options.
It is a sad that even in 2024, we are arguing about caste and religion, especially in politics, whether it is the opposition or the ruling party.
25:12 SG You forgot the great Leslie Claudius from my city of Bilaspur Chhattisgarh
The live that Shekhar has for Indian hockey is infectious... ive grown to love how they play ... i think we should build on it !! Hockey is a sociology phd topic ..
We need to back these players with a HIL for both men and women ... we have to continously build on what is good !! --
1. More security to hockey players
2. More depth in talent-- iron sharpens iron
3. Build on our legacy...
4. More COACHES, JOURNALISTS, MEDIA,
We already have fans for the sport.. in rural and urban india -- we have football ⚽️ fans .. if you enjoy epl.. there is no reason you won't enjoy hockey..
I referenced football fans because there are so many overlap between the sports -- hockey and football !!
Overlap in terms of viewing experience..
Organizing back to back 2 World cups..making worlds 2 largest hockey stadium..2 champions trophy, making 54 synthetic turf hockey stafium 🏒 court in the states ..Naveen Pattnaik deserve a special medal for that ❤❤❤❤❤
India started becoming agessive and developed better as prime ministership and political power holders evolved from from diverse society rather than one "gandhi" family.. also under OBC prime minister..say it SG
RG will show the photo of hockey team and ask for the caste
This is much better, knowing the real metal of this amazing players rather than knowing what water Virat Kohli drinks or what brands Anushka Sharma wears. Nothing to take them away, but I am shocked with the struggles. This hockey players have gone through. Very inspiring for our children.
IHF did not do justice to Harbinder singh the mercurial forward.
A good episode. Will overlook that SG seems to be obsessed with caste just like the khangress is. But it is a fact that hockey is very representative of all communities and we all enjoy our national sport
Sir u r excellent...very informative and eye opener......I know u for the last more than 30 yes...u r very hard working ......this is excellent piece
Wonderful well-researched story 👏
Along with Riyan Parag, Uma Chhetry from Assam has also made it to the Indian cricket team
Excellent analysis 👍
Thanks for providing insights on indian hockey
hong kong only 2 gold medals and 4 bronze medals for india, what a brillant success, jai hind!
You made me cry in two successive CTCs.
Thankyou Shekhar Gupta for making me and India feel proud of our diversity. In my opinion you are the best storehouse and narrator of history of our times. I hope you will find time to write books on all your favourite subjects, for future generations to read.
Nice presentation sir. Thanks a lot. Best wishes.
One of the best episodes that showcase the future path to our people to follow
Well I don't want to sound wrong, but if meritocracy is so good, it should be applied everywhere.
Well done Shekar. This is a topic that needs to be brought to the forefront. However the more recommendations are how to widen the base of youngsters playing hockey. It needs to be encouraged in all schools. Sadly absent except in a few states.
You need a IPL in hockey like we have in cricket and Badminton. There has to be money in a sport.
Thank you Shekar.
Excellent topic. Giving opportunity is much more important than cast census.
Thanks for covering hockey
I usually dont watch ThePrint but thanks to sir for discussing hockey
Sports, markets & inclusion. Outstanding episode!!!
Sports must be a unifying force. It should break barriers and smash glass ceilings built by dominant forces in society. It must be a source of inspiration, an epitome of teamwork and a symbol of patriotism.
India the giant in cricket same in hockey also but not regognised by anyone truly sad😮💨😮💨
There has been a major shift in support provided by government to players after 2014, to overlook that is not fair analysis
Amazing story of our Heroes. Very well reported Sir.
@Shekhar Gupta Thank you again for reminding the people of India that why we should raise our glasses for Jaipal singh Munda everytime we drink.
1. RG should see this video, real success will come only and only if merit is deployed and not because of reservations
2. The example strengthens the case of DEI in corporate, Trainers can use this example
3. Gratitue to Ex Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik who has played critical role in reviving Hockey in India, surprised you failed to mention his name
4. Overall good episode, Excellent job
Our obsession with caste and religion is insane. Even an Indian olympic win wont be spared from dissection along these lines. Expected better.
So unnecessary to point out the caste & creed of India's Sporting heros!!!
Congratulations India 🇮🇳👍🏻
During the gloomy times, definitely silverware for India. We need to keep our sports separated from politics, religion, caste etc. We need to look for increasing viewership of these spots; more viewership means more money and more encouragement for the players. We are 140 bn strong and there is always a market for all sports apart from Cricket.
Grt episode : hockey evokes tremendous emotions : wish and hope that up side accelerates
By putting captions like cast and religion is bringing this kind of thing to minds. .when our guy go out it is india..media talking like this is damaging more than politicians
Sir Sundargarh is in Odisha and not in Jharkhand
They should start a Premier League in Hockey like it exists in cricket and kabbadi so that people can become more supportive of hockey.
Agree with everything, except one. You mentioned we upper caste as most privileged, in reality it is the Anglo Indian Groups who are most privileged in India.
