I enjoy your content. Thanks. You might add: locals really really resent “Yankees “ and you are going to FEEL IT BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU TO. They don’t mind selling the house for A PROFIT, but it’s a problem when they have to pay MORE FOR THE NEXT ONE. Plus the drivers are rude. Southern hospitality is not common in Florida!
I really don't get the fascination with Florida. Yes, it is pretty, but the heat is horrible. I went to Florida when I was younger, and my skin felt like it was on fire. Between the heat, bugs, and cost of living.....no thanks.
My biggest shock moving to Florida was scorpions 🤯😱 and I was horrified. Yes attacked by no-see-ums. And had fire ant bites. And the sheer yuck of giant cockroaches flying. They sound like small airplanes. The Rhinoceros Beetles, Walking Sticks are pretty cool. We had horrible humidity in Nebraska (who knew that all that corn can sweat ???) but yes, nothing like FL. Thought I would enjoy gardening even more in FL...😂 😂 😂 We live small town and yes, doctors are thinner on the ground here (Gulf side). edit- forgot to say thanks for the video!
I met a woman at the hospital where my mother was in New York City, shevsaid she had to come to New York to get the Medicare care she needed because she couldn't get it in Florida.
@@Connect2Florida Thanks for the reply. I really enjoy your videos and honest opinions. It seems like the real estate is more affordable in Rotunda than other areas is one of the major reasons it caught my eye. I have been looking in the $500k ish range (cash purchase) and there are many in that range….but if it is an undesirable area that would explain why.
@@psillygal1953 I wouldnt call it undesirable as much as a little boring and sort of a pass through. Im happy to go more in depth. Feel free to reach out to me. consultwithBarrett.com if you would like to drill down on it in detail and also find the right place. Thanks for watching!
Always info about the negatives of Florida...and we get it... you are always prepping folks to make them aware of the pitfalls .. but.. couldn't you kinda throw out the positives as well? I mean people have been flocking to Florida for decades... a lil bit of the positives... just saying! ❤❤
I would definitely have to agree, the parts of Florida that I have been to are absolutely nothing like that. Specifically, Orlando had no bug issue when I was there
@@Da-King-of-SwingNorth Florida is hot in the summer, but during the winter the temps fall to freezing and below, thus mitigating the bug problem. As for healthcare Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville is one of the most renowned facilities in the country. North FL is not filled with transplants from other states, but has many communities with deep generational roots and a culture resembling South Alabama and South Georgia. As a native Floridian still living in North Florida I consider the state to be very diverse.
I was born here in Florida in 1956 just like my great grand parents. #1 negative about Florida is New York transplants. #2 is New Jersey transplants. #3 Pennsylvania transplants. #4 N.E transplants. #5 immigrants coming to Florida with no education. no money, no skills, no American values, lazy, moochers, entitled.
That’s actually kind of sad that one of the things that people don’t like about Florida is that it is a melting pot of different people from different places and different backgrounds that’s actually a beautiful thing and that’s what it’s so cool about America but I guess post Maga world it’s actually looked down upon by some people
@ I guess you didn’t say that there’s no community feeling in Florida. I don’t know if you watched back the video that you made but yeah you went on about how there’s different sports team flags and how there’s no real sense of community because everyone is from somewhere else. That is exactly what I’m referencing. So to say, no one said any of that, but you, you literally went on a five minute rant about community and how there’s a lack of community because everyone comes from a different place and roots for a different sports teams and no one really roots for the home team because no one’s from there as if that’s a bad thing. I was trying to be respectful in the comment while still voicing a concern for the way the world is turning.
@@TheGardenOfLife My definition of community is different than yours. I was talking about "hometowns" "hometeams" etc. If that is your definition of "diversity" then we were just coming from a different starting point. "A melting pot of different people" is usually not speaking of random football teams. I think we both know you are trolling. Please dont. Youre welcome back anytime minus the trolling.
@@TheGardenOfLifeIn saying this in the most respectful way I can be, I think your threshold to take offense of minor comments is way way low. It’s sad. I know exactly what she was talking about. Many sports teams in FL struggle to build that loyal fan base like you see in Green Bay and KC because loyalties are strong for their home teams. The Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins are good examples. Even when they win, they still struggle to draw local fans and any fans they do draw tend to cheer for THEIR team from back home. I think if one is constantly looking to be offended by even minor innocent comments from others, that’s a sad way to live.
@@RickAndell I think you’re reaching bud. In no way did I take offense to what she said. I simply misunderstood the point. She was trying to make. In life it’s OK to misunderstand what people say. I’m not sure if you were aware of that. I had no idea. She was literally just talking about sports teams because I could not care less about sports teams and I could not understand why someone would not want to move to Florida because people don’t root for Florida teams. That is just the most idiotic thing I could possibly imagine. Because I watched it back and I listened to everything that was said and it was quite literally just about not rooting for Florida teams. Grasping at straws, buddy, grow up and learn a thing or two in life.
Great info Barett love your channel

Heat and storms in summer, crowds and traffic in winter.

Have you done a video on Rotunda West? Seems like an interesting concept.
Curious what you find interesting about the concept. Have you been there?

You should have titled this video "The Truth about Living in SOUTHWEST Florida." The entire state is not like what you describe.
Can you elaborate please? Start with where you live in Florida. Thanks
