    These day it seems I try to make a piece every few months, usually after watching videos like this. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing you knowledge. Question, any reason you couldn't set the front prongs first? Seems like it might be easier to get a finished look before the stone in there.

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  3 роки тому +2

      I guess you could do that but you would need to put the stone and frame into some thermal plastic to hold it all as you set the prong. This might also be hard to get the back prongs to be perfectly flat. I hope that helps

    Beautiful and so easily explained. Thanks for sharing. One question. Do you pickle after each prong is soldered? I’ve been taught this but sometimes it’s just so time consuming. On the other hand, I’m afraid of ruining my piece, by not doing it after each prong. Thanks 🙏

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  2 роки тому +3

      You can pickle it after each print is soldered on but you don't have to and should be able to do it all in one go without cleaning it

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  3 роки тому +3

      Depends on your setup and what kind of silver you're looking for. Are you needing it already in sheet and wire form or are you buying casting grain or bars to make your own?

    • @chadatchison145
      @chadatchison145 3 роки тому +3

      @@GomeowCreations I'll be buying sheets and wire at first so I can get used to the material before buying casting grains and bars. I want to wait until I have enough scrap to justify buying a mill roller and a big torch setup. Thanks for replying, you channel has been a tremendous help in getting me started on making my own jewelry, I'm basically ready to go I just need the silver and solder at this point.

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  3 роки тому +2

      You need the metal to be clean when doing any soldering work and that is what your pickle setup is for. It basically acid washes the metal. 😊👍
