Assuming the 60D has the same focus settings start by insuring your focus mode is set to either AI Focus or One Shot. Place your selected focus point over your subject and depress the shutter half way and hold it there...do not release from this position. Once your camera focuses, recompose your shot the way you like and fully depress the shutter button.
"Thank you" seems insignificant. I inherited a 30D and could not figure out how to set/reset AF points. The content of your video might seem like a no-brainer to some, but it was exactly what I needed to know! Thank you, very much!
for 0:35, press info button a coupe times until you get to the screen with all the settings, then press the af point selection button and it will show on the screen.
Thanks for the great tip but I don't like how the set button is used to return to the center AF point. I use the set button as a short cut to White Balance since there isn't a dedicated WB button on the 60D. What other option do I have?
sorry but at 0:59 you say to manually select a focus point you use the af point selection button and then use the quick control dial / top main dial /or multi controller dial and set button but then you go on say it goes back to auto mode? so whats the point of manually selecting a focus point if the camera goes back into auto focus mode?
Pressing the AF Point Selection Button as shown at :38 does nothing but zoom the viewfinder in. How do I achieve the Point Selection functionality. Canon instruction manual fail.
Lets say you have composed a portrait shot and none of the focus pts line up with the eyes; what do you do next to focus the shot properly? Have t4i and using viewfinder.
These are the best tutorials I have ever seen for anything. I have subscribed and will be back again and again. Polished, clear and professional.
