Sons of Attila is the first update in a few years where I genuinely enjoy most of not all new features. The new crew audio in particular is so immersive in ground rb. Also rearranged tech trees, specifically UK are way more streamlined and accessible, plus gaijin is making foldered vehicles significantly cheaper to research. Overall, probably their best update since they added Italy a few years ago
The tech tree rearrangement was a very good thing for me,
It allowed me to quickly finish my ZTZ99 III research and immediately research the ZTZ99A
It screwed me over really bad, i was researching Yak-3U and Yak-9U (the plane before it) was swapped for Yak-3P, so now i have to research another plane i dont even want to get the Yak-3U. Also A7M2 was moved to rank 4. Not saying its a bad thing, at least japan now has a good rank 4 fighter. Problem is that i have not unlocked rank 4 yet, so i cannot buy a plane i already researched!

I received at least 4 vehicles from Gaijin for "free" when I opened the game yesterday. I was halfway through with the T-55AMD-1, Il-28Sh, TAM 2C and something I forgot. Thank Gaijin, I guess

The anti-air change is a welcome change, the AI skill level was wildly inconsistent and the damage done was equally as inconsistent but it was always incredibly annoying.

The new stat cards are neat and I don’t dislike them, they’re fine.
…but I like the old ones better, they were unique and going from old-timey to early colored to modern as you progressed through the tech tree was a cool little touch

I never liked the old stat cards, they were legacy WW2 War Thunder and didn't really fit with some of the newer vehicles. Besides, you never got a good look from them anyway.
honestly if you want to take a look at yo vehicle just click on preview, most old vehicle stat cards were all in the same angle as these new ones you dont get anything new here@@RealOny
I loved the old stat cards, they had a sort of character to them that WarThunder resonates with. It’s the way the game treats modern vehicles the same way it treats WWII and Cold War era vehicles, all being given that same grainy image photography depicting the vehicle in the middle of a combat zone. I liked that, it wasn’t just a generic view of the vehicle with no real character or creativity, it was an expression of care and love in the game. I will say, I do like the new stat cards, they do look pretty, but it would be nice if there was an option to switch from the new cards back to the old ones, and vice versa.

The difference between the two Catalinas is that only one has the retractable landing gear, hence why it isn’t in the water :)
also kinda worth noting that there's a smoke detonation nerf, they no longer explode into a cloud of smoke. Edit: Im talking about when an enemy shoots the external smoke nades
Nerf? In most situations thats a buff, the old smoke looked like shit (though so may the new smoke models im updating my game atm so I have no clue) and took up WAY too much space as it was *literally* a cloud so it'd be too much smoke on our end while most of the time, giving the enemy the bigger advantage if they were closer or if someone drove too far into the smoke and couldn't see out, but the enemy could see them.
That was already on the dev server since day 1
@@americanhat3766the old smoke was a hell of a lot better because it was god damn smoke, the current PNG sprites just don't look anywhere near as good and somehow consume more resources than before, they also take a second longer to appear compared to the old one

2:09 only the second PBY gets retractable gear. That’s why it’s on land in the photo
another small change that ive noticed is that the M3 Bradley's internals was slightly changed, making it so that the ammunition belt is now wall shaped instead of a cylinder. this somehow makes the Bradley even worse than it already was.
Bradley never was bad. It isnt a bmp2m but it was never bad

@@ideadlift20kg83 Not really, the 25mm is pretty much usable against all targets and the tow 2s are nice aswell. only thing holding it back is the speed and inability to fire tows on the move

@@sapiensiski They need to fix the Bradley's launcher depression. IRL the Bradley can depress its launcher further than the gun, this isn't the case in WT. Also, Bradleys can lock their launchers in the deployed position while moving to avoid needing to raise it when they stop, this should be implemented.

2:07 The reason the Catalina's statcards arent both in the water is because the 5A version has wheels, so the startcard shows it landed on wheels, while the 5 doesnt have wheels, so it shows it in the water.
The bushes being removed when shot at is the best thing that Gaijin could ever come up with. Been asking for it for years.

Something you missed: On the map "Middle East", Gaijin has removed the sniper hill on the right side of the map and also added in more rocks between the construction site and the middle of the map.
I thought the sniper spot got removed a long time ago

they changed the ammo stow priority on the Merkava Mk. 4 series. Previously you always had 2 shells loaded right behind the engine after the first stage stowage was full. Now they are loaded at the very last. they also added a fireproof container for these 2 shells on the B and M model, but not for the Mk. 4 LIC.
Kind of upset about the Vautour losing it's air-spawn. It was my go-to when I needed to hit bases is ARB. Pretty miffed about some of my other favourites dropping from rank three to two.

@@MarcABrown-tt1fp The Vautour is so bad you can't avoid enemies. While it can out run most subsonic jets (unless they have missiles) supersonics will shit all over Vautours with ease, can't even dogfight with it as it turns like a house. That jet is dead and useless now.
Constantly fighting against planes with all aspect misses was already a pain now you just screwed. On your grind unless you are lucky enough to get a full downtime match (never happens).

The thing only kind of 'worked' since you could bleed height for speed, and try and hit the bases before the enemy reached you, and then you could get some points before they caught you and blew you to bits.
God only knows what Gaijin expects people to do with the aircraft now.
If you wait around before going in, you might be able to bomb a base while enemy aircraft are busy dogfighting, but there's equal odds that your team will fold like origami and then you can't do shit.
The F-105 now has access to 2000lbs drag bombs
I swear the M24 got nerfed, the acceleration and engine just feels slightly underpowered now.
They have overall reduced the speed and acceleration of vehicles in almost all maps, except snowed ones (idk why) and the test drive.
The AJ-37 already had 120kg bombs.

Also in the US tech tree Abrams HC was moved to the medium tank research line and foldered vehicles now require less xp to research.
He was mainly going over obscure update info. The folders are hardly obscure lol
if you go to the test drive area in a tank your gun can interact with other tanks hitting them but will not do any damage to the enemy or your gun if impacted in speed

2:42, the only reason it explodes is because they dropped it, in the previous clip in the original video it just gets destroyed, I'm also guessing it only gets destroyed if another plane shoots it.
no, it's about the round that hits it. low-velocity MG rounds will just destroy it without detonating. it can still explode while attached if hit with a high-energy round
im gussing that they cant be destroyed if the aircraft is on the ground, in the same manner that you cant drop if your on the ground
I blew a bomb with .50 m3s just earlier today
I had an AI He111 bomber blow up spectacularly after being hit by .50 cals in Air Sim battle, does not happen every time, but when it happens it is very satisfying.
I'm mixed about the stat cards, while I did enjoy the pictures that were there, I do like how the new ones give you a much better look at the vehicle
there's a new voiceline for the german too, I only notice the change "lade bereit" to now "ladeschuetze bereit" and also new voiceline when climbing up hill
AIM-9J also got nerfed-ish, it has a bigger seeker window but it lost radar slaving

They better give the vautour's their air spawn back. They're practically useless as is, they'll be completely useless without that air spawn. Slower acceleration than everything else, slower turning and climb rate, no flares, mediocre missiles at best and though the 4 DEFA's are nice, the bad handling makes them mostly useless.
Yeah, it's a damn shame they gave the vatour the buccaneer treatment. A subsonic bomber without airspawn at the same br as supersonic jets is just absurd.
What's not in the patch notes is that the German 7.92mm APIs penetration was reduced from 13mm to 8mm, which is historical.
On the other hand they changed the British Hispano 20mm AP round to AP-T, even though it didn't a have tracer in RL. They even changed the Hispano belts because of that.
The fun thing is: i had the F-16A ADF researched before the update and i grinded 400k rp for it, it's now 200k that means i lost 200k rp and it just disappeared.
favorite thing about the update is the compression and better organization of the tech trees. makes the feeling of actual progression vs feeling "forced" to play repetitive vehicles so much better
The new stat card images would be fine if the lighting wasn't God awful, and the flags are cut off so far up them that some are not immediately recognizable.
As a Sweden main I agree, the AJ37 definitely needs a higher br due to the addition of the 120kg bombs, it was already impossible to use effectively especially when you suck at the game like me

2 other changes on the German MiG-15bis that I've noticed are that its engine doesn't seem to overheat at 100% throttle anymore but it has lost its FAB-250's
I don't think anyone noticed this, but the PUMA got a massive nerf getting a 20 round ready rack

I’ve had numerous cases of bombers with bombs in their bomb bay absolutely detonating from armor piercing rounds
Air Assault mode will show how bad the bomb explosions under planes are now, specially for this mode, i feel like playing street fighter with all those sparks and flames. I don't like it.
The chance of a bombs exploding is extremely slim in RL.
You need to hit the fuze or hit it with an explosive round.
Except that most bombs have thick steel walls, not easily penetrated by HE rounds.
I think you need AP round rounds to shoot bombs out of the sky in-Game. But it doesn’t really make sense either way.
@@kimjanek646 In Air assault mode, where u have 16 bombers lined up, its a firework, its quite ridiculous. You can blow bombs 2 if not 3 times in 1 pass, filling your screen with balls of flames... arcadish, hugly. And i think in a dive now you can hit your own bombs with your plane, not sure yet.
since the update wierd things go on in Ground RB, we played on 5.7-8.0 and when we shot APHE sometimes it did nearly nothing to the enemy for example me with a IS-2 shooting into the side of a VK-30 at 10 meters the shell disapeared on impact and 3 fragments appeared and made 1 crewmember yellow, or sometimes it just didnt detonate (like it should after penetrating the hull from a Tiger or Sherman etc.). thinks like this happened to us A LOT compared to before, every "5th" shot (only happens on APHE) was like that.

I think the commander on the ZSU-57-2 now the can controle the guns when the gunner in knocked out. And the wearher after this update is awesome

They did something with this update that just makes my game run a lot better, less chop in the frame rates and that's somehow with all the friggin trees they added
Im actually really excited about the loader nonlknger yanking out the half loaded shell in his last --dying-- awake moments. Im just hoping its only the bushes that can get shot off, because i dont want to see my lil tigor swnt flying every time i encounter an auto cannon.
they updated the internal model for the Panzer IIIs J through M. XM803 also has its autoloader modeled

yesterday i was grinding for the f-105D while i just finished t5 usa, i was so close but sadly i cant finish my grind due to the displacement for the tier, was just 5k rp away...

Im pretty sure it had 120kg bombs before just not drag bombs because before this update i had presets with bombs (aj37)
also the red tops AAMs where buffed ( at least on the sea vixen) u can lead much further now wich is mbetter then u think because these missils only have a reliable distance of like 1.5km
On the new stat cards, I feel like I can actually tell what I'm looking at without having to go into customize or test drive. Some of the pics were hard see clearly
i hate the new ai anti aircraft changes because i feel like they were buffed as twice in the last around 10 games i was shot down by the enemy bases when trying to shoot at an enemy and for some reason they have insane accuracy
I like new statcards tbh. Somehow they are much more dynamic a some sort of feeling of pride with that flag behind it.
2:40 so thats why those bombers blew up spectacularly when i was only hitting them with my 50s
Rockets and guided munitions can be tested in the protection view against warships. Although some are missing.

So if you drop it from high alt basically it's gonna instantly explode when it hits the ground
If you drop it at super low alt... it's not gonna go boom because fuze isn't activated...
If that makes sense?
I noticed while flying the D4Y that the cockpit view freezes the game to unplayable levels, just the one with the simulated zoom on the crosshairs. I tried it on the J2M and it worked fine

About the stat cards the chinese i-16 also have the planes facing left
For 2 peice ammo it's 50% finished and 1 peice it's 80%
2 piece ammo uses both 50% and 80% as stated on the update changelog.

Finally someone noticed the new 4k bomb on the a2d1. It’s awesome
As one of those 7 naval players as much as customisation is nice, I'd prefer they finally included the number of shells in an ammo rack into the ammo detonation damage model, even if we don't get individual racks or even shells as tanks do which is understandable when you can oftentimes carry several hundred, but seriously, the fact that 1, 10, and 100 shells will all have the same effect on my ship is silly.
The I-185 (M-71) also has the 3d model facing the other way
so thats why that lancaster make such a big boom yesterday
I wish they done a change for the Ta 152 because it's constantly facing jet age aircraft that can out turn it, out speed it and has just as good if not better cannons
The big fields of Poland map changes are nice to what I've experienced, the C side of the map is no longer a sniper death corridor like it use to be.
Wow the update actually looks neat and that loader change is a nice welcome. I imagine it would be more than halfway process if your loader is knocked out mid reloading. Baffled me how before, if you were almost done, youd have to restart. Like what did the loader do when he died? Take the shell out the breach?

The American reserve biplane (can't remember the name rn) got 4x 100 pound bonmbs while before the update, it could only carry 2. Same with the sb2c. The second one got 2 more 250/500 pounders respectively
The new cockpit for the spittyboi is nice .. only if the flight model was as good.
About bombs detonating on planes, I think they mentioned they'll go off if hit with a big enough round. So a 7.7mm might not be enough. I was detonated in my P-61 yesterday by a 109
Bombs and missiles literally don’t detonate at all they just cannot be dropped or launched. I had this occur on my g91 yesterday
The IDS didn't get the tinted window which is kind of upsetting but I could care less lol The Mi-8 however has callouts if you break your rotor (idk if other helis do I haven't checked, I assume callouts is just a thing now)
Definitely like the old stat cards better. It would be nice if you could choose one or the other. Other than that it is a fantastic update
I like the new ones for tanks, it reminds me of the Battlefield 4 vehicle customization screen, but I would like a toggle to switch between the two.

AJ37 Always had 120kg bombs. But it has 120kg parachute bombs now with was so needed.
Something that was not in the patch notes:
The field of view on the AIM-9J and all it's derivatives (AIM-9P, RB24J etc) has been increased dramaticaly. The uncaged field of view is now the same as on the AIM-9G which is a huge upgrade and turns the AIM-9J into a incredible close range dogfight missile.

Just got out of a match in my Vautour, it didn't loose its air spawn on the interceptor version
Pretty sure the reason for the PBY-5A being on land in the card is because the 5A has normal landing gear along with seaplane gear, while the PBY-5 only has seaplane gear.
I only played the F84F for grinding because it was a guaranteed base kill and maybe a kill or two, starting on the runway means there's no reason to play it at all
