The easter egg in this watch is that although it's a dual time zone watch, because the 24 hour numbers move and the gmt point is fixed, the time for other cities will always be at the same point in the circle, so you can use it as a worldtimer watch if you memorize the fixed circle point of the 4-6 cities that you care about in a way that you can't for most gmt watches without the clutter and dst issues of traditional worldtimer watches and it's a rolex.
@@cjb5499basically the GMt time is always at 12 o'clock. So if I want to know the time im England for example, i can check where that is now, (say at 3 o'clock fot example) and england time will always be in the same spot
I saw this exact white model at the airport worn by a Qatary gent. Its a beautiful watch, very iconic and the bezel highlights the piece. Its blingy without being pretentious.
It is NOT complex . It has date ,month and 24 hr dial . PFFT.Clearly anyone who thinks this is complicated ,has no clue about watches and complications.
I worked on a couple of these and under the dial it’s one of the most complicated things I’ve worked on and I’ve worked on minute repeaters, patek, ap, vintage Rolex annual calendars
Totally agree on the dial. My wallet doesn’t agree on the price. I will say though, they sky-dweller is now on my shorter list. If they released one in 40 mm I would consider down the road
I have the two-tone version with a white dial. I consider it to be my Rolex dress-watch and a great alternative to date-just or even the day-date. I thought it was too big at first, but it has certainly "grown on me".
Great video Teddy.... I've been a fan of the Sky Dweller since it was first launched. Unfortunately, the solid gold price put it out of my price range. Fast forward to Jan 2020, I was walking the other day and while passing by a Rolex Dealer, low and behold there is Two-Tone Champagne face one sitting in the window. Someone put themselves in for it and apparently lost interest in the year it took for the store to acquire it. While, not a fan of the Two Tone/nor the Champagne face, I put it on and viola.... This is one beautiful timepiece. Since then, I have fallen in love with it. If you can find one new and afford it, I would say scoop it up, you won't regret it and I personally think the two-tone is really the only "untouched" market in the skyrocketing values that have encompassed the Rolex catalogue. Teddy, I'd be really interested in your thoughts on the two-tone marketplace and where you think it may or may not be heading in the near future.... Thanks!
Man, Rolex just offered me one and she came home on Friday. In fact, it’s almost this exact one, except Jubilee band which I prefer. Ordered a Rubber B today to help dress it down, and will be my daily of 2023. Happy New Year new sub! Nice content you’re very natural on camera.
I do think this is a great watch. I was visiting a well known online retailer based in Florida the other day and got to check this exact reference out. In real life I'd argue it is not a pure white face, but actually has a dash of silver to it. It is not, for example, the same white you get on an Explorer II, and you can see even in this video the contrast between the face and the inner ring which is pure white. In any case it looks amazing. If you travel a lot this would be a sweet watch to own, but it is fairly bulky compared to a GMT, and unlike a GMT there is no bezel to calculate a third time zone or use as a rudimentary timer. Truth be told, most travellers would probably be better off with a GMT. But if you want something a bit more dressy and a bit less subtle, then here you go.
Thanks for the explanation on how the watch actually works. I've been a bit mystified and now it all makes sense. The bad news is that now I want this watch more than ever. :)
gripes: case size, fluted bezel, cyclops. i absolutely love the dial of this specific reference. the cyclops kills all rolex watches with a date complication for me. same with daydate. fluted bezel is too flashy for me, but i could overlook it without the cyclops.
i like this watch a lot. I love GMT watches and this is an awesome alternative to a typical GMT watch. I hope they release a full stainless steel version. I really do hate the bubble date. throws off the symmetry of the dial.

Just bought the blue version, and from an AD of all things. Got super lucky. And I also have a smaller wrist, but it wears just fine (although a bit heavy compared to my two-tone submariner).
I plan on buying my first Rolex in 5 years, and I'm torn between the Milgauss (because it's just so quirky!), and the Sky Dweller. Great review! Keep up the good work!
Unfortunately, life has made a few decisions for me, and my 5 year plan went out the window. For now, the crown will have to remain on the wishlist for some time in the future.
Nice demonstration by Rolex of some complex complications, but a bit too large. I need a complication for the date; however, I really do know what month it is without a wrist check. I'll stick with my Tudor GMT for multiple time zone tracking and value. Good video & thanks.
Got this in black dial. Love it. Gets a lot of wrist time over Daytona & presidential. Probably because it’s steel. Only one problem I have with it is when crown is in the lock position the bezel still moves into its 3 settings.
My bezel also rotates while the crown is locked. I thought this could be a issue so I took the watch to the rolex service center, they inspected watch and said the bezel always being free to rotate is normal and operating as designed.
I love the white dial stainless steel version sky dweller is it absolutely stunning piece and also it look like almost the same as the white gold sky dweller version 326939🤩
Planning to purchase one, but they only offer the oysterflex with the solid gold options, which are out of budget. The two-tone is growing on me though
I am not a Rolex guy by any means. But the Sky-Dweller does it for me! It's a shame they're so huge...wonder if they'd ever make a reduced version of some sort.
They aren’t huge at all … it’s quite wearable . It’s the best Rolex ever produced .. the movement is crazy accurate , the dial and complications are stunning . The white/Silver dial is breathtaking
I like the Sky Dweller. I like the design cues of it. I'm not much into other Rolex offerings so it's a nice and beautiful watch to look at and hopefully one day own
Sky Dweller is the only Rolex I want. It's one of the most unpopular Rolex watches, because I hardly ever hear anyone talking about it. It has absolute zero homages and straight forward fake copies have most functions disabled due to complexity. And where that price comes from? from what I see the basic price for SkyDweller no matter if it's used or unworn starts at 16K and escalates quickly.
Great watch. I wish they were more available at retail but they aren't. I think the steel skydweller with WHITE dial will be discontinued so hold on to it. I love the black dial because I'm not a fan of the blue dial even though its the ONE that everybody wants. Great review 👏
That’s actually a very fair question. Very similar to their sports bezels this one is sealed off. It be fun to open one of these up as an experiment though haha.

Never been much of a Rolex fan, but the degree of engineering behind this movement is truly fascinating.
People need to see this vid to understand how complex the sky dweller really is
Flippin Zippo Agree. I bet 99% of people are ignorant to the bezel’s function; I was.
I had no idea prior to this and thought it was just a different GMT watch.
I didn’t fully appreciate it as well before making this video. Totally underestimated it and now it has much more of my respect!
This video as well as Watchfinder's video. Really appreciate Teddy for giving the Sky-Dweller the attention it deserves

This is a gmt actually.
Mohammad Shoaib Not everyone has modern female sized wrists, it’s great for a medium man sized 7inch wrist or larger.
I agree, it's one of the few Rolex watches that does something slightly interesting, in my opinion

The Sky Dweller is definitely one of my favorites!

Not crazy about the fluted Bezel but the stainless is a must have for the collection.

Beautiful as well. I prefer the steel though with the standard hour markings with lume. A bit more sporty looking and of cross more affordable

In a 40mm and a slightly thinner case (by 1-2mm) this would’ve been perfection
