my puff was a lamp. it would slowly sink down and irratated me. 4 grade for some reason i rembered it all the time. that was 1949. last year i was visiting my cousin and there it was. took it home and my daughter has it on display with other family things. i see it as my puff came out of his cave.
Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter Paul & Mary Live 0453am 14.10.24 an anti heroin song if i ever heard one... 1: in that you had to be on heroin to compose this 2: you had to be on heroin to reason that this was an acceptable ditty for impression youth 3: just say no! to heroin addicts stood at yer back door.......................................
I was lucky enough to have been part of the chorus that accompanied Peter Paul & Mary in this holiday concert, and it is still one of my favorite musical memories. So nice to see others enjoying it.
I wonder how many of today's songs will still be sung in 60 years time. I can still sing along, I don't need any on screen words, and the tears still flow!
I was fortunate enough to see them in concert at the state line of Nevada and california, my oldest son loved the song to death God rest his soul in peace😢
The sad thing I equate this song to the War in Vietnam is that it would bring tears to think about war at the beginning of your manhood. There was an aircraft called " Puff The Magic Dragon" it would rain down "fire"
That is the stupidest thing I never heard. There's some really sick people in this world. They can't even enjoy a song without putting a negative spin on it? Give me a break..
I am puffy9, when I was about 9 years old we got a cat. I named him puffy as I loved the puff the magic dragon song. Thanks to Peter Paul and Mary I will always have this great memory.
It all brings back fond memories of the 60s. The wonderful songs, first loves, back seats of 55 chevys and waiting to be drafted!! 'What once was will never be again'.
During my deployment as a United States 🇺🇸 Marine to Southeast Asia. I saw Peter, Paul and Mary on a USO tour. They were at upper mile camp in the Philippine 🇵🇭 islands. Clark Air Base, Subic Bay. AWESOME CONCERT! 🫡❤️🇺🇸
JANUARY 11 2025 BIG STEVE DOSS will be 65 and says PUFF the MAGIC DRAGON lives on a ROOF Rest in PEACE PETER. PUFF the MAGIC DRAGON will LIVE on FOREVER on the ROOF
This song is a classic icon in the history books of American Music. Every child should hear this. It's an easy one to sing and love. It is awesome how they put this together with the orchestra and background vocals. Long Live Peter Paul and Mary! P.S. Anyone familiar with "Puff The Kosher Dragon"?
I remember as a kid with my family going in cave rock in sumner chch NZ calling for puff. We were led to believe puff was in the cave when the tide was in and away to sea when the tide was out. Love this song.

Back to the days when I had a baby brother. God bless those days...then we grew up and things went all crazy. What went wrong I often wonder. So tears fall now for all lost but still I have sweet memories. Music may bring tears but also memories that are precious and often smiles and deep sighs.
There is only one word to describe this one: TIMELESS! Well, there ARE a few more, such as BEAUTIFUL, POINGNANT, SIMPLE and SAD, and one that will live thru the ages. CLASSIC!
@@marcschneider4845 of course but Jackie Papers son could have a son too. My biggest grief is that kids don’t play like that anymore. When I was a kid, I would turn our slide upside down and it would become a Viking ship. I would sail the seven seas, sack Paris, discover America. Now kids play video games.
That's been one of my all time favorite songs since my 60s childhood and I've passed that on to my children my wife son and I have sung it at many an open Mike night..and we ALWAYS end it with Present Tense .. LOVE YA PUFF
we will never hear music like this again
I think we all shed a tear for our lost childhood. I know I do. I wish I could find the cave that Puff went into, just once more......
I shed a tear for my magical college days at university of Colorado and meeting my bride to be at age 18, now married 57 years.

I was about 5 when I saw them perform this on Captain Kangaroo. Life was good.
I was lucky enough to have been part of the chorus that accompanied Peter Paul & Mary in this holiday concert, and it is still one of my favorite musical memories. So nice to see others enjoying it.
No one else has said it, so I'll say it..... WOW!!!!

How wonderful to hear this song!!!! You probably won't ever hear any songs like this again, that will live in your heart.
wonder how many of todays artists & songs will have the ability to light up the eyes & bring smiles to an audience
This is such a classic song, and I believe Peter when he said that it had nothing to do with drugs.
I think it is a song about the loss of childhood.
@@nbenefielthats exactly what its about. The group took offense when the song was accused of being about drugs

My Favorite childhood song along with yellow submarine I maybe 60 yrs old but I still enjoy this music.
Can't believe today's young people traded this music in favor of rap crap.
Not their fault if they haven't been exposed to PPM.😊
Amen to that, the older music is a o much better❤❤❤❤
R.I.P. Peter Yarrow
I remember mom playing this for me and my three brothers when we were small ! Oh the memories !
I listen to them each day. They still bring me joy.
This was my favorite song from my childhood, in the 1960s.
I remember seeing Peter, Paul & Mary on The Jack Benny Show. He kept getting Peter and Paul confused. I also love the song "Quinn the Eskimo."❤
Love this song and only Peter Paul and Mary can sing this

Im a 90s kid and i remember this song, i loved this song and i still do!!! It's very nostalgic!
This is my favorite song ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Now this is magic :) I love it
I’ve always wished there was one more verse, where Jackie Papers little boy came and found Puff and sailed the seas of Honalee.
If you play the tune on an instrument, you can add that verse when you sing it!
but that would sort of defeat the purpose of the song. Childhood always ends. It would end for Jackie Papers' son too.
