I wonder how many of today's songs will still be sung in 60 years time. I can still sing along, I don't need any on screen words, and the tears still flow!
I was lucky enough to have been part of the chorus that accompanied Peter Paul & Mary in this holiday concert, and it is still one of my favorite musical memories. So nice to see others enjoying it.
That is the stupidest thing I never heard. There's some really sick people in this world. They can't even enjoy a song without putting a negative spin on it? Give me a break..
The sad thing I equate this song to the War in Vietnam is that it would bring tears to think about war at the beginning of your manhood. There was an aircraft called " Puff The Magic Dragon" it would rain down "fire"
I was fortunate enough to see them in concert at the state line of Nevada and california, my oldest son loved the song to death God rest his soul in peace😢
That's been one of my all time favorite songs since my 60s childhood and I've passed that on to my children my wife son and I have sung it at many an open Mike night..and we ALWAYS end it with Present Tense .. LOVE YA PUFF
This song is a classic icon in the history books of American Music. Every child should hear this. It's an easy one to sing and love. It is awesome how they put this together with the orchestra and background vocals. Long Live Peter Paul and Mary! P.S. Anyone familiar with "Puff The Kosher Dragon"?
There is only one word to describe this one: TIMELESS! Well, there ARE a few more, such as BEAUTIFUL, POINGNANT, SIMPLE and SAD, and one that will live thru the ages. CLASSIC!
@@marcschneider4845 of course but Jackie Papers son could have a son too. My biggest grief is that kids don’t play like that anymore. When I was a kid, I would turn our slide upside down and it would become a Viking ship. I would sail the seven seas, sack Paris, discover America. Now kids play video games.
1:28 Present tense. He now lives in a condo in Hallandale. I have seen him @ Sarah's tent, or kosher kingdom. Of course; he occasionally goes to Moe's deli. He also likes Jamaican food.
I love the way that the little girl nearly launches herself right out of her seat and wide mouth shout of glee- great to see. Also the little boy (about the same age) mouthing the words. Just proves that nasty Mary Whitehouse was completely wrong about banning it for children due to its implied use of drugs- something I still don't agree with- jus a sheit stirring old woman . In any case even if it was about Class A drugs, the words and song would have gone over he head of even a 10 year old ! Childhood isn't that long: let children have their childhood without trying to fill their brains with negative ideas.
One of the cleverest songs about what every person will do , grow up and grow older.

Magic ❤
I think we all shed a tear for our lost childhood. I know I do. I wish I could find the cave that Puff went into, just once more......
I shed a tear for my magical college days at university of Colorado and meeting my bride to be at age 18, now married 57 years.
Never gets old
How wonderful to hear this song!!!! You probably won't ever hear any songs like this again, that will live in your heart.
My Mother loved this song! December 1, 1994
we will never hear music like this again
This is such a classic song, and I believe Peter when he said that it had nothing to do with drugs.
I think it is a song about the loss of childhood.
@@nbenefielthats exactly what its about. The group took offense when the song was accused of being about drugs

Love this song and only Peter Paul and Mary can sing this
I fell I have passed another milestone - I grew up on this - and now know what this generation is missing. Long Live her spirit!
I heard them sing this at a concert in St. Louis back in the mid 1960s. So beautiful!
That's been one of my all time favorite songs since my 60s childhood and I've passed that on to my children my wife son and I have sung it at many an open Mike night..and we ALWAYS end it with Present Tense .. LOVE YA PUFF
LOVE this rendition! I watch it over and over periodically!

Now this is magic :) I love it
Saw them in concert around 1990, and they were wonderful! RIP Mary
An absolute must at every acid party
I heard it for the first time in 1975 I was 8 years old at the time

この曲を聞きながら夢を語ります、若い頃の素晴らしい夢を😃
Now this is magic
This is certainly a song about lost innocence.
You'll be missed sweet Mary.
Es una hermosa interpretación,entretenida, lindo recuerdo de mi adolescencia.😂❤
Makes me want to build a little fort out of mum's dressing gown and dining chairs.
I used to sing my daughter to sleep with this song
Me too x
Thank You Sir! ❤
they hung around the ice house in pasadena in their very early years like a lot of famous artist did before fame

Puff the magic. Drag on!
I'm listening. Sadly our governments aren't
Sweet!!
I’ve always wished there was one more verse, where Jackie Papers little boy came and found Puff and sailed the seas of Honalee.
If you play the tune on an instrument, you can add that verse when you sing it!
but that would sort of defeat the purpose of the song. Childhood always ends. It would end for Jackie Papers' son too.

me and my girlfriend sang this at school, 2 decades ago
Do little kids still jam to this?

3:26 - what do they say??? "Praise the taste!" ??? 🤔
A story reflects "growing up" and the realities of maturation. Sad commentary, yet part of life.....

wow they don't really sound any different :)RIP MARY!
Great Tune---but it's taking a turn on loss of innocense after reading what Peter did to a minor.
Terrible quality.
Beautiful.
I bet you can’t find 3 people under the age of 35 that know this song. I bet zero for anyone under 15
Remember my late mum being a fan but what was Mary thinking wearing that tent ⛺️?
