Hello Alan...Thank you, for such an informative video. I grew up and resided in Superior, less than two hours away. Certainly brought back many fond memories...the original owner of one of the two ferry services, Howard Russell, would often allow me to steer the Gar-How ll, back in the early 50s, when the Ferry was brand new. My father was a salesman representing many products, and he supplied the candy, for Howard's vending machines on the boat. We were also huge fans, of the very popular smoked fish, which was a great seller, especially during the tourist season. One last little known fact... Bob Hope was present on Madeline Island, commemorating the opening of the Country Club (Golf), in the 60s.
Yes Bayfield is a great place to visit but growing up there was not so wonderful. I was happy to get the hell out of there when I could and I never looked back!
I have been going to Bayfield on vacation every years since I stopped there in 2010 while driving cross country. To me, a born and bred New Yorker, it reminds me of a cross between a nice maritime town and Greenwich Village, though not as flashy as the Village. Bayfield has become a place where I can go and just unwind. I have gotten to know people there, and they are wonderful people. Can't wait to go back!
i live in bayfield and i have all my life. its wonderful. i love to go to the candy shope, they have like 100 flavors!!!!!! it is a good place to live. screw that guy!!!!! yeah and with out the tourists than it actually would shut down.... :( but the summers nice and in the fall we have apple fest!!!!!! its fun and just awsome!!!!! so come to bayfield if you want to have a family trip! btw im 13. ♥♥♥
