Wow what an interesting history of Black River Falls!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!
You’re so welcome!!! Probably wasn’t quite what you expected, eh?
Sometimes the unexpected is superior to the expected. @@SightseeingSally
I love the way you look in your glasses. Do your own thing.
Hypnosis is a legit medical field...no relationship to witch craft etc.
@@SightseeingSally any relationship to static x album lol jk
My mother in law grew up in Black River Falls during the Depression. She was the youngest of five siblings. Her father was a lumberjack. He left the family alone to go work during the winter. When he returned in the spring his wife was in bed with the five children. Three of them were dead from fever. His wife had lost her sanity from grief. She spent the rest of her life institutionalized. The two remaining kids were taken in by cousins.
So sad.
Only real dangers in black river falls are the floods and drunk drivers.
My mom had a great-grandmother that got buried alive. Her grandmother kept having a dream that she was still alive. Finally, in desperation they dug her up. All her fingernails on both hands were gone. Claw marks all over the inside of the lid of her coffin. Happened, somewhere in Wisconsin. Tried to claw her way out. Incredible.
Wow! 😱
What a nightmare
Prayers for that persons sad demise and anguish.😭💔
Very humbling.😞
Makes you think that any job that even seems uneventful can have great disasters if not completely done right. I'd rather be cremated and never wake up in a box
May your great great grandmother rest in peace.
Hey I live here! Not born here but came here in 2017. I love it here. Great neighbors, coworkers, shop keepers, and such. Just one picky ordinance control officer. 😆 Good ATV trails. Lake Wazee it great! We will take all the small town publicity we can get. If they want to think we are haunted and cursed then fine come see for yourself 👍
The sunglasses either on or off lol
I’ve lived in Wisconsin all my life and still learning about this crazy state 😂😂
Interesting video.
My brother was mute and only spoke in whispers when he was young. He was normal until my father got mad at him and when they went on a walk in the woods left him there at age 4. When my dad came home alone my mom sent my brother out to find him. He was a different child after that. He finally got some help. He is on disability for social anxiety now. Better but not normal. Muteness can be caused by many things.
Your father should be in prison
what you think happened on that walk?
That's really a sad story. I can't imagine a 4 year old in the woods by themselves. 😢
That is just heartbreakingly cruel. I hope he got his karma.
I only knew of Wisconsin Death Trip from the Static-X album
Same.
Push It 🎸😊
Should I get my shovel?! 👍
Well they got their name from a photo based book about this town called WI death trip to be clear.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The Town's successive hardships occurred during a US recession. Not cursed, just a victim of the times, like other Towns during the era. Love the "Cursed" angle though. Explains the recurrence of recessions and inflation, like now.👍🏾 on point.
Excellent point! Thank you 😊
Still not as bad as Plainfield Wi. Remember Ed Gein ? 😳
My grandma lived two houses down from him n had many meals with him n my grandpa
Ahhh BRF! I know that town all too well. I've installed cable in those apartments and the residents all had awesome Ghost stories.
I grew up 30 miles south in Sparta WI and currently live in the heart of The Driftless Region..Viroqua.
Great video!
Grandpa Prell...White house on the left in Clifton
Barf! West Salem here…80’s
I hunt in Clifton!... small world.
I don't know if it's cursed or not but i remember losing $300 in two hours once at the Casino... I'm pretty sure I was in Black River Falls 😂
😂
😂😂😂
My family and I used to camp at lake Arbutus all the time. I love it up there.
I can understand why. It’s beautiful around there.
Lake Arbutus and Hatfield are one of my Favorites places in Wisconsin. I love the Lake at Dexterville too. East of BlackRiver Falls on 54.
I live in what was an old hospital. Our bedrooms and bathroom have original wood doors, the whole place is really cool to me anyway lol
Nice dramatic rendition. Since I was stationed at Ft. McCoy back in 1970 this peaked my interest.
I'm surprised you haven't gone over to Plainfield, just east of there. Has a dark history as well. It's where Ed Gein is from, you know the guy that inspired "Pyscho", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", and Buffalo Bill in "Silance of the Lambs".
Here, sounds like you missed the Plainfield episode:

@@SightseeingSally Just found it, Thanks.
Some pretty creepy stories! Hard to believe because the town now looks so quaint. I liked this video!😊❤
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Pls do more videos on historical ghost towns of Wisconsin
I've had this book for years, it's always creeped me out to a weird level, fantastic link to the past you created here, thank you. I have the book in my lap now, I've subscribed.
Yeah, the book is a bit creepy while being interesting at the same time. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for subscribing! Hope to see more comments from you in the future.
SO glad to see that you are still making videos! My Best to you and Marty.
With more to come. Thank you!
@@SightseeingSally Go Sally !
My uncle owns a good bit of farmland there. He's owned it for at least 30 years. He had never heard of the Wisconsin Death Trip until I told him about it in the early 2000s.
The mural with Route 66 on it is strange since this town is nowhere near Route 66.
Proud Wisconsinite!! Lived here all my life and never knew this... Thanks!
Cheesehead!! Greetings from Chicago
You should check out Whitewater Wis.....also known as the Salem of the west. Where in their library is a book so dangerous that it can never be checked out viewed because everyone who has went insane or committed suicide. There is also a down room that was at the intersection of three cemeteries and people who lived in that room meet with tragic endings
School of the blind..I remember going there when I was 9 or 10

@@lesliehill3025library in Whitewater WI State Historical Society. Maybe the UW Whitewater library
Ill tell ya Sally. You do a great job with these videos! What talent! Regards from Ody Slim.
BTW, I am still waiting to see Couderay :-)
I plumbed those apts.
BRF is a nice town. Did you guys find the little ice cream stand Dairy Way on Highway 12 south?
I have a BRF ghost story true and from 1978.Its too long and too scarey.I lived in a haunted apt. and I left abruptly after 2 1/2 months. SCARY!!!We called ourselves Ghostbusters. Before the movie!
Is that still open? Wow
Though I lived not too far from Black River Falls for a number of years, I never heard anything about it's dark history before.
The name of Black River Falls would draw me to explore the town. Strange and dark happenings there, Wow! The land was cursed is scary. Wow, a lot of things were happening there! Union Place Apartments is unque, and I can see it being a high school before. Wow the story of the two boys who murdered the farm owner is sad. Yikes the story of the guy killing himself wurh dynamite is crazy! The story of the mute boy is interesting 😮! Love the building with auto Mural is cool! The story of the woman buried alive is sad😢! Thanks for sharing!
There's a town called Black Earth as well. And Bara"boo".
It's not cursed
You need to see the documentary it's called wisconsin death trip u can get it from the library.
It's all perspective. Black River Falls is where my grandparents retired in a cabin/log home that my grandpa built just outside of town. For me, it was a beautiful and magical place where I'd go fishing with my grandpa, get together at Thanksgiving and Christmas with my family, and have family reunions there. It's just the opposite of cursed for me. I was totally oblivious to the history of the town. The only curse is that the town has gotten too big and hardly resembles the place I knew from the '80s and '90s, but I guess I can say that about most places.
The band Static X debut album named after the book WI death trip created demand to put it back into print after being out of print for a long time. Glad to have seen the band b4 the release, and many times after... I even met them got to hang out with Tony bassist and marty friedman in mlk hooters as a 13 yr old.
Curses, witchs, and superstitious ideas are the simple way to avoid deeper questions and lead to many innocent ppl being hurt. Life in general was dark and hard at these times. Having more business and wealth than most small towns probably caused much more drastic reactions when banks fell.
You should go check out Galena, IL Sally 👍
Quaint and interesting little town. That mural on the side and back of the building is awesome! The town looks very well kept. You can see the pride of the residents.
I moved here 3 years ago & absolutely love it❤️
Karma New & Used is the antique shop with the murals. Dave the owner is very passionate about his shop.
It's a wonderful place to live❤️
I always enjoy your stories about the towns you visit! You always find good stuff!! Thanks Sally❤
My grandpa was born and raised there. Never said much about it. He was a wonderful and loving man though.
I'm using Black River Falls as a setting for my horror story. lol
While I've read up on some information about the town, this was also a helpful and nice video to watch. Thanks for sharing and showing the area. :)
That's some wild an Crazy stuff sister!
For sure! Thanks for watching 😊
That is really awesome 😎💯 that they repurposed that old school building
I was born & raised in Black River Falls & can confirm it’s cursed. Mother & I lived in a haunted house for 13 years in the grove, few blocks away from main st. Very beautiful area & much to offer. But the town possesses multiple active haunted houses/establishments/parks/murders/never ending suicides.. Perry Creek park is worth looking into & was a hot spot for teens to explore late at night & experience/see more than what we hoped for. WI Death Trip was shown to us in some classes in the BRF high school. I fled to Montana a few years ago & will not be returning to the Black Hole 🙏🏼👌🏼🤠
I live in the grove & haven't experienced anything paranormal.
Which house were you at that was haunted?
This video makes a lot of sense. I used to Scuba dive at Lake Wazee East of Black River Falls. For the most part visiting there is not a good experience. The town really has nothing to offer and my interaction with the locals has been somewhat off putting. I have traveled everywhere from Key West Florida to Grand Marais Minnesota, from New Jersey to Monterey California. I will never darken that towns door step ever again.
Are you from Illinois?😂
Why not???
Yes that town is cursed...as the entire east side of st paul is...as many towns in iowa are.... because of the amount of native people slaughtered to get that land...so many of the areas by the body of waters were native burial grounds...they just built on top of them... never moved them... Indian mounds Park in st Paul had 100s of burial mounds all over the east side...now there's 4
Likewise for OHIO
Very interesting video!
Horrifying story of the woman buried alive. 😮😭
Thanks! Yes, it certainly was.
Great episode
Gives me an idea, Halloween would be a good time for some, scary stories from, frightseeingsally.
Three tattoo parlours in town…they must have great Tattooathons..
most of the small towns in Wisconsin are cursed
Oh I remember that Wisconsin Death Trip I’ve seen that book years ago!
Didn’t Ed Gein live near there too?
I’ve been to Black River Falls, gambled , & had lunch in a cool old tavern that used to have ladies of the evening upstairs back in the day! It was a cool place!
Yes. In Plainfield.
You Look Exactly Like My Best Friend Who Passed Away Back In 2004 Really Great Video 👌👍✌️👋
I grew up here and it’s just like any other small town you come across. Everyone knows everyone and most of the people are friendly to visitors and tourists. The town just got a bad rap because of Wisconsin Death Trip.
You are a fantastic story teller and video content creator. Really enjoyed this vid!!!
Awesome!! Keep up the awesome job!!
I live in Cameron Wisconsin. Black river falls has a Walmart. It's not a small town. Lol
Population of 3500 seems pretty small to me
@SightseeingSally see what you can find out about Cameron. I've lived here for 60 years. Must be some history i don't know about. Stop by I'll buy you a beer. Lol
@@SightseeingSallyseems crowded…to me
Hi, Sally. I always thank you for your videos. Have a great week.🎉.
Being a resident of BRF I’m just surprised there isn’t footage of the many meth zombies that wander the town
Okay, the old high school was replaced by a new high school. Sooooo scary!
No doubt, Black River Falls gets rather interesting around Halloween.
Good stuff
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
My grandpa used to have a cabin in a small place called pray it’s not far from there I always thought I got wierd vibes from black river falls
beautiful wedding venue in BRF called Burlap and Bells! Their rentable house has incredible on a bluff. You can see basically 180 degrees for miles and miles
Great video, Thanks.....
Grew up around there, trying to tackle Kirby thundercloud in high school football was painful!

"G. Drinkwine, father of Miss Lillian Drinkwine, who commited suicide a few days ago, attempted suicide at Sparta. He swallowed a large quantity of cigar stubs."
And then there's the bottom sign at 1:11
😳
Still, it seems like a nice town, I could live there. 😉👍
Thanks Sally! 🤠👍
You’re welcome 😊
This place was not cursed, Sally doesn't tell the whole story. Ppl were eating rye the was getting wet n it was making them go mad /tripping n dong things that they would never do. There is a book n a documentary on it that will explain everything.
I went to a dry wedding there. After that we went to one of the bars in town, the people there were so awesome I got really smashed but we had a blast.
Black river falls does have a vibe to it, I never knew about its history
He believed in the Big Bang theory…
I believe in Marty though…
Check out waushara County. Court house where Ed gein was held it's a museum now worth the stop.
Interesting i live 2 hours from here
Thank you sally 👍very interesting
I live very close to that town
That river looks like a good place to fish 👍
I'm headed there this weekend.. it is.
Lets get sally to 50 thousand views 👍👍👍👍thanks sally
Thanks for this video. I always enjoyed reading "Wisconsin Death Trip"- which I found on my grandmother's book nook. Grandma lived in Eau Claire- just north of Black River Falls. Thanks again for the memories.
I have seen the photographs of three women posing in front of Yep Ah Sing Laundry. I like that photograph. Taken in 1895.
You missed the best part. Now the Sand Creek brewery. One of the buildings that clame to be the first beer Brewery in Wisconsin. The story that I heard was the original brew master fell into the cooking process. Haasa brewery in Bangor has a better story on being the first brewery in Wisconsin.
Sand pillow circle or something like that. It was the street I stayed on when I was little and the house was haunted as hell all I remember from black river falls is my parents had a Medicine man come to the house. We got sent to the park not to far from the house and I remember seeing like a hundred or so white birds come flying from the house. That experience and some creepy stuff I’ve seen in the house I will Remember forever
I wonder if Static X, a rock band, took the title of Wisconsin Death Trip for their album. Great video! I am in WI, not far from Black River Falls. I love all the small towns in this area.
I’ve read that they did use the title from this book
. Thanks Sally.......scary
You’re welcome!
You can feel the despair in this town. I also wanted to see if I see my car at all 🤣 Also this place is full of meth addicts. There is 1,000 people and 500 are on drugs
I have enjoyed several but not every one of your sightseeing videos. Just a suggestion: your productions could benefit by also using a drone camera. The You Tube work of s/v Delos is a good example,
Black River Falls was served by the branch line of the former C&MO RR later UP RR until the final run of the branch line local freight that served the iron ore mine many years ago.
I didn’t know that I live in Wisconsin all my left
HELLO SALLY......
6:04 - Cute I don't know!
I thought the old high school was an insane asylum but it’s a high school. Hoodathunkit?
I’m an expert because I am a graduate of a real Laughing Academy. They tried to tell me it it was an “asylum” but I still have my diploma. It says “Bwahahahahaha!!!”
Nice video! 😂
Even though it would be getting a bit off topic I was hoping she would mention the album by Static X
Mark Grobert of America's Untold Stories said that alcoholism before and after the turn of the century and the rise of the Temprence movement which led to Prohibition of Alcohol in America from 1919 to 1935 led to a decrease in domestic violence, murder and robery nation wide for about 2 years. Then speakeasys arose along with bootlegging and organized crime. Well you get the picture.😮
You could make a rotten banana sound interesting.
Take the sun glasses off.
Best to have them on outside

Idk, I'd say Plainfield and Ed Geen have BLF beat.
