What a great idea for the birds! 🐧🐤 Thank you😊
I love the Norwegian aesthetics and traditions you guys are introducing us to in this series of UA-cam videos. There is a lot or work behind the making of something so charming! 👏😁
Arne your English is so much better than my Norwegian, so I appreciate every word!
You guys are adorable together. We can tell that you love and respect each other but enjoy teasing.
Hi Arne and Carlos, As children, we would string popcorn (unsalted) and raw cranberries to decorate our Christmas tree. Then on Epiphany, January 6, when we took down the tree we took the popcorn strings outside and placed on bushes for the birds.
Your bird seed balls look amazing! You're a pro. Thank you both for speaking English on your UA-cam channel. I know I appreciate it. Yes Arne, your English IS perfect.
Thank you!
@@ARNECARLOS To an English ear, the Norwegian and the English for fat sound so similar that, unless you listen very carefully, the Norwegian sounds English!
There are so many people holding you kindly in their hearts. May your holidays be as blessed as you make ours.
Oh how lovely to see the little birds eating the seeds from the balls!!!
They loved them
Yes! Excellent camera work.
“Bird Balls”!! I’m 61-y-o, but giggle like a teenager again because of you guys!
I was thinking this video would be a good drinking game - but do you drink when Carlos says "balls" or when Arne says "balls"?
@@michelletribble7327 Both!😄
That ‘spoon’ is a scoop!
Just to let you know Teespring’s customer service really did a good job replacing my Christmas mug. The first one arrived in a cardboard box in many pieces as it was not packed properly. After notifying Teespring, and sending pictures of the box/mug I received a new mug, properly packed, in very little time. Nice to know the company that ships your “merch” stands behind your products. Love the mug and Christmas bag. Thanks!!
I'm 63 years old and live in Iowa, and I've eaten raw cookie dough my entire life. I've never had food poisoning. My father used to eat 3 raw eggs a day and they never caused food poisoning. We must just be lucky. The bird balls look wonderful and I hope the little birdies love them!
😀
Seeing the bird eating at the end was perfect!
❤️
Arne your English is wonderful!!!!! I can only speak one language and you now speak 2 that I know of or maybe more. We love you just the way you are.
Thank you!
So much fun. Everyone should have taken a drink every time you said “bird balls”!
Arne is usually so deferential, so it gladdens my heart to see that he, like the rest of us, has control issues. He clearly holds _strong opinions_ as to the correct preparation of birdie snack balls!
Your needle is for when you recover furniture. You need a long needle to tuft a cushion or to do buttons on a cushion. Or... If you want to make suet for the birds. 😀 Love your show. It has been the best entertainment during this time!
So much fun today! And a wonderful gift for the birds. ❣️
Can’t wait till the Nobel Committee notifies you.
🤣
Dolly Parton will sing, with santa Lucia candles’ girls!
This was wonderful! You make us feel like we are there with you and not so lonely locked down at home. Thank you for being so welcoming to all of us.
Thanks for your company. A very thoughtful idea to spend time with fans each day of Advent. Giving Joy and Friendship. 🎄✨🎄✨🎄✨🎄
Thank you Alyson!
Did you know that small 🐧birds loose up to 10% off their own weight after a cold night? So this birdballs will centainly help them survive! Thanx for this lovely video!
Arne, your English is very good! I was an English as a Second Language teacher, and I can tell you English has sooo many words from sooo many origins. At 66 years old, I’m still learning new English words. We also have regional dialects and many, many colloquialisms. I’ve noticed you have a very good learning habit, which is to repeat the word when Carlos supplies the word in English. Keep up the good work! I love hearing the Norwegian when you speak, and I’m surprised how many words I understand. ❄️😘❄️
Oooh, the birds will love those! What a fun video!
Thank you!
What a wonderful episode thank you guys 😘😘
What a great idea for the birds. You are both very creative. Thanks for making us all laugh and smile. Am loving the daily and weekly videos.
Dear Arne and Carlos, My husband passed away in August and I have not been able to laugh like I have while watching your Advent cooking videos. Today I made gingerbread men from last weeks video. Thank you for making life brighter.
You guys do such fun activities together... I’m envious.... one of the comments I particularly loved was when Arne confessed that he had used the scissors for all kinds of things....happens...life happens
OMG...I was laughing so hard. I am the professional here. This is insane!!!! Thanks for cheering my day up... Yes Arne your English is so perfect. LOL. Seriously I love every video you put out. Thanks for all you do.
You are welcome!
Nobel Prize for solving “bird-ball problems”....that’s hilarious 😂!
The needle is a upholstery needle to sew buttons on a couch or pillows or chair that have fancy buttons
I had to stop knitting because I was laughing to hard. Thank you for making our day joyful.
First time ever Carlos is taking orders from Arne. I discovered what makes your partnership so successful: laughter and fun together 😄👍
I want to say an extra thank you for this video. I've enjoyed all of them but today I needed your humor and beautiful scenery. You see, my dad died yesterday from covid related complicarions. He had a wonderful life. He was 92. Today you made me smile and remember life is good. You have a wonderful trlationship that a lot of people wish for. Thank you for bringing smiles to so many.
What kind words to say when you must be so sad. So sorry to hear about your Dad. Let us all be more like you.❤️
This was wonderful! You make us feel like we are there with you and not so lonely locked down at home.
I always melt the suet in a tin can in hot water. My grandmother worried abut the fat catching fire. Then pour over the seed. I am glad to learn to use an upholstery need. Good idea, even for the knitted balls.
Mis amores: watching you made me remember “Nature is full of genius, full of the divinity; so that not a snowflake escapes its fashioning hand.
Henry David Thoreau
Thank you two for getting me into the Christmas spirit. Love all your shows.
Helmer looked so funny with the grain all over his face. So adorable. It was fun to see the cute birds eating from the seed balls at the end. I don't know what kind they were, but they were really pretty. Another job well done.
I think it was a coal tit. They have a distinctive white stripe down the back of their necks.
I'm transfixed by your fabulous hats! The two different styles suit you both very well. In Canada you can buy pasteurized egg whites in a carton, but I use organic, free-range eggs raw for making that royal icing, tiramisu etc and have never ever had a food-borne issue. One thing I have heard, though, it's apparently not a bad idea to rinse your eggshells well before cracking them....
This video is LOVELY! Thank you for the fun laughs - and Helmer trying to eat the wheat made me laugh! Arne should get behind the camera more often!!
We are Wisconsin Synod German Lutherans. Our advent is marked by a wreath of pines branches with four candles. They stand for Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. Weeks 1, 2, and 4 are either purple or dark blue. Week 3 is pink or rose colored. Sometimes we have a 5th white candle, called the Christ Candle, which is lit on Christmas Day. The four candles remind us that in the four weeks of Advent we are preparing for the coming of the Christ Child, who is the light of the world. The wreath of evergreen could also help a person think of everlasting life. Blessings on your Advent preparations, and thank you for sharing your traditions with us!
Arne your English is very good. I have no ear for languages. Carlos your hat suits you very well. You are both so busy. No travels and I still don't know how you fit everything in.
I enjoy the banter between you both.
Take care & Stay safe.
You too!
Thank you for helping the feathered friends out this winter. Keep showing some of the variety that visit the food, if you can.
We always celebrated Advent in my home growing up. My Welsh Grandmothers gave us the tradition. The birds will be so happy having such a nice treat. Hugs
I love everything about this video. So glad there are people like you in the world.
Thank you!
Haha, Helmer playing off camera cracked me up.
🤣
I made suet seed balls Saturday and put one outside my kitchen window yesterday morning. This afternoon, a cardinal accepted the invitation! Thank you guys for showing me how it's done. This made me smile!
In the US, I know most Christians know Advent and celebrate it as you do with the candles. We are preparing for the coming of the (baby ) Jesus. I love your craft project this week. I haven't made suet balls before but often bought them for our wild birds. Where we live now we are not allowed to put seeds, etc. out for birds. Thanks for doing these Advent programs. It's so enjoyable to see you doing things together and teaching each other skills you are proficient in.
Carlos, hat looks great! You've said Arne wears hats well, this one looks great on you -- probably the height of the hat.
How can anybody give your videos a thumbs down?? You guys are adorable and cheer me up every time I watch you!! Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤ love you both!!
Thank you too for doing this in English! I can't imagine speaking a second language - and doing a podcast. You are both brilliant. (just for informations sake - when you can't see that little piece behind you while driving - in America we call that the "blind spot")
You can try to mould the bird-seed-dough around the string. That way you can omit the needle.
Thank you!
My favorite Sit&Knit! Thank you for helping to make the world a better place!
Thank you for watching Laurie and also for the lovely comment.
The birds are very lucky to have you taking care of them through the snowy weather. Thank you for sharing. ❤
I love these (Norse) traditions and I enjoy hearing Norwegian and Swedish words,
More please❣️
Your banter in the kitchen is appreciated,
Sounds like my kitchen, ha!
Your English is better than you might think- it’s good!!🎄
Thank you!
Thank you for bringing fun and laughter to a very wet Scottish Friday afternoon, in these worrying times ❤️
The birds are loving your Christmas gift to them. Wonderful idea!
😀
What a beautiful idea. I will have to make some for my birds.
Love the Advent specials. They are so enjoyable yet so instructive. What makes them so entertaining is your interaction. I had to put my knitting down. "I cannot believe you are telling ME what to do in the kitchen." LOL
It was lovely to see the birds eating from the balls.
What wonderful thoughts for Advent...joy, hope, longing, and peace 💞. We don’t have a candle but an advent calendar. Each day one of the family opens the little door, reads a part of Clement Moore’s “Night Before Christmas,” then eats the chocolate surprise inside. Your birds are lucky to have such thoughtful caretakers.
Lol helmer is having a ball just so adorable. Just so funny love it thank you
He is one of the happiest dogs!
Thank you . I live in Kelseyville.. you just made my day. The vaccine has arrived but I Need to know how many survivors. With lots of love👄
Thank you!
A lot of people celebrate Advent the same way here in Canada. I stopped lighting candles when we ended up with my daughter's rescue cats. They climb all over the place so it's just not safe. I was happy to see that Carlos figured out to put the ribbon through before the balls got hard. We usually take a blob of the seed mixture, lay the ribbon across it, put another blob on top and form the ball around the ribbon. We pull the ribbon back and forth a bit to make sure it's straight, snug the ball up again and leave it to harden. Thanks for another fun video. Love seeing the birds at the end.
How fun was that❣️now I want to make seed bird balls too😀 thank you Arne and Carlos for another great video and all the
laughs🥰👍
Make some!
Arne - please do not apologize for your English skills!! You do amazingly well!
Here’s another idea: Form the balls around a straw, cut it flush when dried, and it will be easier to run the ribbon through! ❤️
Or knead the ball directly around the ribbon?
Haha. Oh you are delightful! Lovely watching the birds eating your bird ball Christmas treats.
Going to make my birds some balls now!
This was one of my favorite episodes from you guys - everything so beautiful in your garden - the fun you have working on your projects together - such a wonderful spirit - its a joy to spend time with you - and the bird balls look like a great project for our backyard birds!
I am just able to watch this 3rd Advent episode tonight.... so marvelous!!! You are so supportive of each other, and have fun together.... So good when you are stuck together 24-7 during this strange time in our World 😂. Thank you!
Always fun to tune in , great comedy as well as a interesting crafting demo
Love you guys so much! You two are so flippin’ cute together and bring such joy to my day. Smiles all around and such neat projects....although I have to pass on the bird balls because of squirrels... the birds wouldn’t get any food because of them. Thank you for sharing your traditions and your culture. It’s all so very interesting and nice during lockdowns to visit you through cyberspace. 💞🎄🎄🎄💞
So much fun. The birds will sing their praise I loved knitting Halling Ball
In New York I used to make ornaments for the birds with peanut butter put on pine cones and rolled in birdseed. We hung on the trees in winter with ribbon and the birds loved it!
I hope Norwegian birds appreciate your heroic efforts!!!
Arne - Your English is a thousand times better than my Norwegian! My family and I travelled to Norway 2 summers ago and we were so thankful most people spoke English. I’m so impressed by people who speak multiple languages (I speak a little French other than English). I would love to go back to Norway in the winter. Your home is so lovely with the lake, garden and snow. The birds looked so excited to have their new seed balls.
So sweet to see the birds pecking at the seed ball. Well done Carlos and Arne.
Thank you!
I enjoy all your podcasts! Every day you two are bringing light in these dark and grey days in the Netherlands. Thank you 🥰
The snow is beautiful. I love chickadee and it was fun to see them enjoying the bird balls. I laughed so hard when Arne said "what else can we do we are in the middle of no where". You both brighten my day so much. Thank you.
Carlos when that ball split and you held it up I could not stop laughing!!! I absolutely love both of your antics....Arne does make you play with some dangerous stuff...lol!
So beautiful to see the birds enjoying the yummy bird balls! Good job 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼
This 3rd advent special was even better than the last 2. I love how you listen to feedback and answer questions that we have about advent and everything christmas that you do. It makes it even more interesting and interactive. Thanks so much for these treasures each day. You have made the Christmas time so enjoyable, what a gift during COVID.
How sweet to see the birds enjoying their balls! Looking forward to your Nobel Prize Award ceremony :D
My first car was a 1971 VW Beetle....I am so envious of yours! I sold it after 10 years as it was too hard to remove my new baby from the back seat. I sold it to a young boy and in a week he crashed it! It was Blue and in perfect condition...it was a Super Beetle with a Stick Shift and an AM Radio. I paid for it with my own money when I was 16 years old. I loved that car!
Today was my saddest day since the passing of my husband and then I watched you and you gave me hope and made me laugh. I love the bird balls and I'm going to purchase the supplies and make them with my 2 Grandkids ages 3 and 5. They will just love them as I!!! Thank you. You two are such an amazing couple. Hugs from Virginia. FYI My husband was Finnish and I am part Swede. My Mom's maiden name was Nordstrom. Love the Scandinavians!!!
What fun! Love the bird balls. And it looks as though the birds do as well!
Beautiful bird balls on the bird rack! You two are so funny. Thanks for taking care of the birds, they bring us a lot of joy.
Here in Canada we feed the birds with seeds in beef suet. Same process but beef fat.
That’s what we do in Tennessee as well.
I put them out all year round but because it's hot here in Houston I buy the ones that are "no melt" and they are great.
I grew up in a Catholic home. We had a ring-shaped advent candle holder with 3 purple candles and one pink. Each Sunday one child would light the appropriate candles, which worked out really well with 3 boys and 1 girl - my week was always the pink candle week. 🙂
So cute. How beautiful! Love both the sweaters! Thank you for sharing your world with us❤️
We gather and light candles for advent in our home here in the states. The first Sunday, a purple candle for HOPE, the second Sunday a purple candle for PEACE, the third Sunday a rose candle for JOY, the fourth Sunday a purple candle for LOVE and on Christmas Day we light a large white candle 🕯 in the center of our advent display to celebrate the coming of Christ Jesus. Every Sunday, as we light the candles we say what they are for and then we have some sort of special treats and drinks afterwards. For my grandchildren it’s cookies, popcorn and apple juice 🧃😄🎄✨
I'd just lay the folded ribbon down, the form the ball around it. Maybe break up the peanuts into smaller pieces? Loved this!
Thank you!
They are so beautiful, the balls and the birds. Lucky birds! You two guys are very special.
Thank you!
The birds are going to love the seed balls. Thank you for feeding them in the winter. Loved watching you make the lard balls.
I love the episode today because you have combined all the things I love through creative measures, nature/the natural world, the outdoors, birds, celebrating, and a spiritual tone all happening in your home. Fun!
Thank you!
Once again I truly enjoyed your podcast. Watching the process of making bird balls was just too much fun. You both work so beautifully together, whether it's giving or receiving instructions. Of course the birds eating the seed/peanut balls was the icing on the cake. Let us know when you win the Nobel prize! Thanks!
I loved this video. You have inspired me to make my own Suet Balls. Going tomorrow to get the ingredients. I know the birds will love Carlos's balls... love you guys.
So glad you shared these advent specials. You both make me laugh. I love the teasing and laughing together.
I love watching you two. You two make my heart happy. And even more so because you care for the animals especially making the suet balls for the birds! I’m going to make some for my birds. I loved seeing the chickadees eating the seeds!
Love that you both are such animal lovers. I'm sure the birds are grateful. 😊🎄❤
Love the beautiful filming of the birds eating!
So much fun! Entertaining yourselves by entertaining us. Thank you so much, the birds feeding on the balls are precious🐦
Thank you!
Love all your cooking. I feel like I know you better now with these home videos.
Glad to hear that!
The birds will be very happy with these delicious balls!
I think I know what kind of needle it is. If it's blund, it's for weaving. But if it's sharp, than it's possibly a needle that is used for making dolls. For ensemble arms and legs, the needle has to go through the whole body, so the needle has to be long.
