All buttons on my psp went completely unresponsive, just entered the recovery menu and all buttons started working again, this is for those who don’t have the same issue as this gentleman
I replaced the shell because it was in a bad condition and replaced the analog because of the drifting problem .. when I finished most of the buttons and the analog itself was not working. I tried to open it multiple times to see what's the problem was but still didn't figure it out 😢 I kept the original buttons in instead of the ones that came with the new shell

My psp dpad and the analog stick don’t work any suggestions I’ve opened it and cleaned the buttons and analog stick and I’m not sure how to mess with the connections to makes sure they are connected to the motherboard or if I should replace them all together
Analog stick you’ll probably have to replace, not sure exactly about the dpad, if you don’t want to diagnose, I’d just get a new one too. Most of these parts are super cheap.

I got a 2nd hand psp that won't get past the opening date and time setup. The X button isn't doing anything for me. Is it just a case of doing what you did and scraping that area to make a new contact? I'm stuck between fixing it or just selling it

Try the same thing. Remove the L button, then remove the rubber padding, and then scratch the metal contacts for that button. Remember, all buttons operate the same!
to help eveyone none of my buttens were working so you have to turn on the power but only slide it to the middle not to the hold butten then might work
That’s how buttons work. Each button has a break in the circuit. When you press down the button, you continue the circuit and that’s how a press is registered. When I touch the needle pliers on the button, I am completing the circuit. Sometimes there is corrosion and debris on the buttons which don’t allow the circuit to complete when you press down.
@@ottiechannel ah I see, now that I realized that this is PSP1000 and mine is PSP2000, so the buttons on PSP2000 are made differently, those can't really be fixed just by scratching the plastic surface. Great video anyway, thank you.
@@robertusreynaldi6672 Remember its not a plastic surface, its metal. Every button in the world operates effectively the same. I would give it a try if you are having that issue.
I just realized my comment is misleading because as I have done in the video, you need to have the battery in place to test the buttons by completing the circuit. I removed that comment since it is not applicable here. Thanks for bringing that up!
bought my psp several years ago and only had it for less than a month and the x button quit working, i tossed it back in the box and put it in the back of my closet until today, for some reason today i feel motivated to get it working. i played it less than 10 times its basically brand new, the thing that had me baffled is it was in a drawer in a protective case nobody touched it and it just broke its self lol, nobody went near it..i was seriously unimpressed with the quality. hardly got to enjoy it.

The rubber pad could be getting sticky. Maybe you spilled some sugary liquid. Try giving that rubber padding a clean.
