Don't marry a divorced woman or man Period! Marriage is hard and so is divorce. Nothing is easy and every "hard" has it's pros and cons because both marriage and divorce are a choice that you make for yourself and own benefit. The Godly/biblical truth is that you cannot marry after divorce unless if you are reuniting with your "ex" husband/wife. It is not that you cannot marry a divorcee if "you are not ready to deal with their baggage", you just cannot marry a divorcee period! Because they belong to their husband/wife for as long as the other partner is still alive. Thoughts of remarrying someone else shouldn't even be a topic with a Pastor. A true man or woman of God should be able to guide and counsel you truthfully and help you face your reality as is according to the Word. God will never contradict Himself. I am not saying people who are divorced don't deserve to be loved. It is a bitter pill to swallow especially to those husbands/wives who were committed to their marriage and did everything they could to make the marriage work. We need to be honest about the consequences of our choices. Yes, every child of God deserves to be loved right and be happy but that shouldn't come with compromising the Word of God because we are called to live a holy life. The are principles in our walk with the Lord that are clearly written in the Bible. I say this with sincerity and pure intentions and not because I am judging any divorcee.
Matthew 5:32 "But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery". Matthew 19:9 "And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery
