I recently realized this too. As a kid the lyrics were too much and prevented me from listening to them but now as an adult I can hear the genius of Wes
If you’re wondering why this song only uses 4 of the strings, it’s because this song was actually recorded on a 4 string tenor guitar. Wes still switches to a tenor for this song to this day.
Ok you said tenor twice so that proves you don't know what you're talking about. It's a four string BARITONE. Also no one that hasnt read this or found out from another source would ever look a at a cover of a nu metal song and go "hey he's only using*x* amount of strings. And don't even say "I did" because you didn't over half the shit you said was wrong
Digging into it he's taking the complete melodic line and removing certain notes (like jazz, it's the notes you're not playing) The way it bounces with Sam rivers bass makes it sound almost played backwards.
I hate people saying shit like that. there's no wrong admiting that u love a bunch of early metal songs and bands. I feel like people have this fear of admiting they enjoyed nu-metal and limp bizkit. Such a sheep mentality. I was like that once but frankly i don't give a fuck anymore. I'm near 30 and i love the first 2 albums of Limp Bizkit, My way,Nookie,Break Stuff,Faith etc etc All these are Nu-metal classics
@@dark3rthanshadows I wasn’t in them back in the day but Nookie came across my UA-cam feed last year and I’m a big fan now. My favorite songs are Nookie and My Generation. Fred talks about Generation X in the latter song, and that’s what I am. I am 3 years older than him and that’s makes me regret not paying attention to them back in the day but on the other hand like them even more. Wes is in his late 40’s and I love his guitar style. Hell, the WHOLE BAND JUST ROCKS!
What make Wes amazing is that he can put out something so simple (I belive everybody with descent guitar skills can replicate this guitar filling), but yet sound so comlementary and perfect when the song come out.. So Simple and yet so impactfull..
from what I can deduce... the tuning from low to high must be... LOW F#, F#, B, E, G#, C#, or at least thats how I'd play it. Also, BEST cover of this song online!
Loved and still love the Song live back then. Don´t judge me, I feel in my guts it´s a tiny bit off the tact in the first verse. Still well done, I couldn´t do it in ages. And man the camera angle is vibrating.
Did you have to modify that guitar to use those strings and put them in that tuning? I remember pretty much ruining my old ESP trying to go bigger and lower than the guitar was clearly meant to go.
It wasn’t really a problem on this guitar, although it’s far from perfect. The intonation, fret buzz and string tension will always be a compromise with this wide range of string sizes.
Great cover. The problem that I always have with videos like this is, it's extremely hard to hear what people are actually playing with their guitars because the backing track still has WES's blaring guitar and how do we know what @STFXLMS is actually playing? However the case, this song is rad. Thanks
thats why i always recommend for cover vidos that you split your audio. have what your playing through the left channel and the backing on the right track. easy to mix and easy to cutout the backing channel ;)
Excellent. Wes is an underated guitarist and this cover is ridiculously satisfying.
yeah, him and otto sort of the cores, they create music not just skills
wes plays custom 4 string guitar not exactly bass .
Wes Borland is and was criminally underrated.
Fact!

@@hassaface5204 Asking the real questions here.
You must be super cool.
It's a baritone guitar.
I never realized how good that clean verse riff is.
I didn't realize myself, before I actually figured it out by watching Wes playing it live. Great riff writer, that guy.
Digging into it he's taking the complete melodic line and removing certain notes (like jazz, it's the notes you're not playing) The way it bounces with Sam rivers bass makes it sound almost played backwards.
I ABSOLUTELY felt the same too!❤
Right??!!
This shit is so classic! Instant nostalgia
I believe this is the best type of cover video. One camera, no edits. Just perform it all the way through. Well done.
This proves it's never too late to post a "best cover on the internet" of any decades-old song.
That was simply awesome
Amazing they could construct a whole song around that riff
Nu metal in a nutshell
When its a riff that good its all you need
influenced from hip hop, using a sample on a loop to create a beat
They literally constructed a song called Nookie around that riff lol
Wes Borland has to be one of the most creative, under rated guitarists/musicians ever.
What a truly unique guitar player Wes is.
"For me personally, Wes Borland is one of the coolest guitarists out there. " _exactly.
I know that song, from a band called Boiler.
Yes, those guys are soooo good!! I didn't know Limp Bizkit did a cover...
I heard your version before Limp Bizkit's cover ... (not fake ahaha)
Whats going on? Nookie is a cover?
@@BiRDiEHere Its not a whoosh because I realize i dont know the joke and I asked for context.

Wes Borland, man... so criative... a true groove machine

Borland is awesome!
Great Riffs!
You did a great job here, Man!
4:10 this might be obvious to some but the higher pitched sliding guitar notes heard here is meant to convey Fred getting the last laugh.
Sick tone!
Thanks! Tried to keep it as close to the original as possible.
its crazy and fu... amazing
@@STFXLMNS what amp are you using for the dirty tone?
@@RuskiMetalhead I don't know about him but Wes always used Dual and Triple Rectifiers
That guitar line is beyond genius
such simple riffs, that sound sooo good
Shit. I didn’t realize how talented Wes is till I saw this cover. Fuckin’ Genius.
Not a fan of Limp Bizkit but Nookie will forever be a Nu-Metal classic.

How was this recommended 4 years after it was uploaded? Either way I’m glad I got to watch this.
Nice cover man! Unic sound and creativity by Wes Borland

i WATCHED THIS THREE TIMES ...i HAD NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS WHAT HE WAS DOING. This is so inspiring , Thanks for this. Guitar from an alien culture.
That doctor who bit wtf!
Best cover in UA-cam very nice
Thanks a lot! Can't go wrong with this song I guess ;)
SUPER sound ! Love to see this live !
Dude 😂 Bizkit goes so hard. This riff is too good, great cover boss!
I remember when Wes came out with this 4 string guitar to play this weird stuff. I was blown away
Like how you get down on the last chorus .. I felt that !!
at last. A decent cover of limp bizkit. Thank you
I'm glad I got this video recommended to my 4 years later
This cover is so perfect. It's so crisp and rocks hard too.
What a beautiful guitar 💜
Damn that sound!! \,,/
Hands down, the best on UA-cam! ❤
BTW I love the Les Paul!
Nice of Wes Borland to teach us this song for us in this vid
delicious... great job, man... wes is a guitar hero, like morello, welch, delson or carpenter... tenebrous and penetrant riffs
What a cool tuning! Going to learn this one
OMG!! Pero que tremendo sonido! Suenas brutal bro!!
Great job on this cover!!
Wes borland make it look simple and won a million heart❤
This is a bad ass guitar riff.
Great playing dude. Keep rocking....
They say 'the Architects tuning' ..
It's definitely 'The Nookie tuning'
Great job.
Love Wes & LB
Masterfully executed man, incredible job!
Te rifas bien perron amigo, Saludos desde mexico. Y que sigan viendo los 90s... LIMP BIZKIT FOREVERRRRR
Thats a great cover right there!
THIS IS FKNG AMAZING!
Best cover
As a kid i always wondered how they got these sounds and how they played it...
same
I didn't even understand the tabs for the song, like what do you mean the 6th string is on F or whatever key from the depths
@@FeelMetalManbasically it's a different guitar tuning than the normal tuning,so wes can play it more convenient for his style
@@rifqoadzkiya2002 oh yeah I meant 20 years ago

from what I can deduce... the tuning from low to high must be...
LOW F#, F#, B, E, G#, C#, or at least thats how I'd play it.

That’s exactly the tuning I used! Thanks.
oh, nevermind my other comment!
I don’t understand. F# is higher than the normal E ???

Great cover man!
Great cover!!
I had no idea what the guitar was doing in the verses. It's such a tiny riff, but it's really bouncy and complements the bassline really well.
Very awesome man! Love limp bizkit ♥
Masterclass
Espectacular...🤯🤘🤘
Oh my God sound is power full❤️❤️😭
Amazing cover my guy, wow. What a weird tuning though, i didn't expect that lol
Well done brother. ❤
Man you really have it all on point. So effortless despite the way that janky intro is shaped in the tabs.
Great work my friend!
That low on a lp.....mad man
Ya extrañaba tus videos hermoso 😍 💕 ♥
It might be tough on 6 string as Wes had played this on 4 string (baritone?) bass...i still like what he does on guitar...sick riffs.
Wes uses a custom 4-string guitar for this song. It’s tuned to low to high: F#, F# (octave higher), B, E.
its amazing that this song is only played on two strings lol
Great job, Wes!!
Wesley H Borland connected to the server
Wesley Snipes just picked up the quad damage
Wesley Crusher left the game with 400 billion frags
Perfect 👍
this what we call a great content
Genius.
Wes is such a beast
This shows how you and Wes were a good guitarist..
Amazing job. Yes he knows a thing or two about fat sound and groovy riffing.
Now this is a freaking solid cover!!! \m/

nice cover.....!!!
F# F# B E G# C# is such a cool tuning, planning to use it on some albums
Architects uses that tuning for some of their low F# songs like Gravedigger, Gone With The Wind, Doomsday, etc.

Great cover! How did you manage to tune a Les Paul guitar to that tuning? What string gauges did you use? Explain xD
Thanks man!
Tuning is in the description! Should be pretty straight forward. I didn’t have any major problems with tuning or intonation…
